Not a fucking good Morning

Came down with DC this morning to find water all over the kitchen floor. Boiler has bust a vale. DH claims he didn't see it, yeah right bastard. Had to turn water off, which because house is so old and decrepit involves going out to bottom of drive, digging around in freezing water and sludge to find the connecter and then bursting blood vessels to turn it off. Boiler man (who is lovely but not hot before you ask) coming this afternoon.

So I have no heating or water and am filthy from turning off the mains. Am off out. Today is not a good day. And I can't watch TM tonight FFS.

I have s two splinters in my hand . was trying to close properly the buggy shed at DD's nursery and the bastards got me. One tiny, one not so tiny. Tries to get rid with tweezers but no luck. should I go to a practice nurse or something?

Drink if it was me I'd sterilise a needle with boiling water and pick at the skin until I could get hold of it with the tweezers. Then put something antiseptic like Germolene on it.

Thank goodness it's Friday. DH has gone, boys weekend to europeancityforfootballandbeer so we're all alone until Sunday night. I can't be too grumpy about him having a weekend off given all I've got planned this year but still.

And bloody rugby on Saturday so we're either tied to the house or out all day until the buggers have gone.

Drink I think practice nurse or minor injuries/walk in if you can't get it out. It's just about having the confidence to dig a little bit!

Lyndie I was DH-less last weekend - ended up having a pizza picnic on the living floor on Saturday night with ds1 & ds2 which I enjoyed just as much as them. Hope it is all stress-free.

apricot madame (you freak) badz *lyndie - thanks for the splinter concern . I feel a bit queasy with things like that. Alas I am not splinter less: the tweezers just snapped them in half. I'll keep it till March meet up, maybe someone will help . I do find it most inconvenient that you all are so far away!

I started prodding the skin with the needle in the morning but had to go out so left it. They're on the side of the hand so not much troubble but they're there.

At least you have tweezers drink, mine keep disappearing. I now just brush my fringe over my expanding monobrow.

It might loosen next time you wash up or have a bath. I find I can get splinters out if the kids easier after a bath.

Drink I would rather dig it out myself than have someone else do it. I'm like Madame, I love anything like that.
