TUESDAY 24 OCTOBER

Drama

Bon Voyage

9:00pm - 10:30pm

ITV1 London

Episode written by Oliver Brown

1/2

The first episode of this latest ITV1 two-parter is very promising indeed, particularly if you like your TV dramas eerie and just a little bit scary. Tensions build very nicely as happy family - mum and dad Neil and Elizabeth (Ben Miles and Rachael Blake) and their two children - embark on a camping holiday in rural France. On their first camp-site stop they meet a friendly (perhaps even too friendly?) couple with a camper van, Simon and Linda (Daniel Ryan and Fay Ripley). But relations between the two couples become uneasy when there are strong hints that Simon and Linda are not all they seem. And when a child goes missing, the suspense ratchets up quite a few notches. Occasionally reminiscent of the early Steven Spielberg classic Duel, this is a pretty good attempt at injecting a few thrills into a good old-fashioned cat-and-mouse story. Unfortunately, as with an awful lot of these two-night tales, tomorrow's concluding episode disappoints.

RT reviewer - Alison Graham

Linda Holder - Fay Ripley

Neil Aldred - Ben Miles

Elizabeth Aldred - Rachael Blake

Rachel Aldred - Emily Beecham

RTKangaMummy · 24/10/2006 22:57

I thought it was really scarey and good

I didn't see any children belonging to the campervan couple did you?

I mean real children not on TV

I knew she did something to the car when she bent down next to it, didn't you?

But the review says tomorrow disappoints

zippitippitoes · 25/10/2006 13:18

well I was hoping this was going to be a good chilling feel good drama but it sucks

and why do they show you the entire edits of the next part at the end don't need to watch now

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 25/10/2006 13:24

found it rather disappointing, not sure I'll watch tonight

UCM · 25/10/2006 14:21

Thought it was slow but it had me on the edge of the bed a few times. In the adverts I kept wondering if RTK had listed this and she did... . I can't wait to watch tonights bit.

As for the Campervan Couple, they gave the impression that they had kids with them, but when I thought about it, didn't actually see them. Twas scary when the girl went for a wee.

TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 25/10/2006 15:05

I found the supposedly scary french cafe hilarious actually
cliches anyone?

zippitippitoes · 25/10/2006 15:10

it' one of those try not to thinkl about it or you will see the gaping holes in the plot

RTKangaMummy · 25/10/2006 17:41

The bit with the boy run over was

OP posts:
TheDivineLiliLaTigresse · 25/10/2006 17:43

yes that was horrible
having seen the trailer for today, I don't think I want to watch kidnapped children, etc, I really struggle with that kind of stuff now....

Tutter · 25/10/2006 17:43

was torn between fiding it gripping and cringeworthily bad

but i shall watch again tonight

zippitippitoes · 25/10/2006 17:43

and how did he find his phone after she chucked it? in about 5 mins

and how do these people in the white camper van know where they are to pop up in the bushes

are they psychic?

collision · 25/10/2006 17:43

I thought it was going to be panned by the critics but was wrong.

I thought the nice couple totally over reacted to the weird couple. When you analyse it what did the weird couple actually do wrong apart from having dodgy wine?

I thought there was so much coincidence about the whole thing....tho I will tape it tonight!!

RTKangaMummy · 25/10/2006 17:45

They know cos the dad told him the route they were going to the house of SIL

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 25/10/2006 17:46

but they changed their minds didn't they and went a different way

RTKangaMummy · 25/10/2006 17:47

I don't think it is supposed to be thought about too much iyswim

But I said to DH to make sure I didn't fall asleep - so we recorded it to make sure

There was no chance of me falling asleep though

OP posts:
7up · 25/10/2006 17:47

i thought it was brilliant, cant wait for tonight

Tutter · 25/10/2006 17:48

might they have put a tracking device on their car?
