Episode written by Oliver Brown

1/2

The first episode of this latest ITV1 two-parter is very promising indeed, particularly if you like your TV dramas eerie and just a little bit scary. Tensions build very nicely as happy family - mum and dad Neil and Elizabeth (Ben Miles and Rachael Blake) and their two children - embark on a camping holiday in rural France. On their first camp-site stop they meet a friendly (perhaps even too friendly?) couple with a camper van, Simon and Linda (Daniel Ryan and Fay Ripley). But relations between the two couples become uneasy when there are strong hints that Simon and Linda are not all they seem. And when a child goes missing, the suspense ratchets up quite a few notches. Occasionally reminiscent of the early Steven Spielberg classic Duel, this is a pretty good attempt at injecting a few thrills into a good old-fashioned cat-and-mouse story. Unfortunately, as with an awful lot of these two-night tales, tomorrow's concluding episode disappoints.

zippitippitoes · 25/10/2006 22:47

that's all right then at least it was a happy ending for them

cerys · 25/10/2006 22:49

blimey, what happened at the end? Didn't see it tonight but need to know now!

incy · 26/10/2006 08:20

Yes my DS started crying so had to pop upstairs and missed the end ! What happened ?

zippitippitoes · 26/10/2006 08:28

the woman let the girl and boy go
the bloke drove off and buried the frenchman well put him in a shallow hole with a blanket over

the parents drove to the place where the man was burying the frenchman in the hole

the man told her to stay there and he went to find the man

he found the frenchman and then the man hit him over the head with a shovel and he fell in the hole

the woman tried to start the old car

the man came and tried to get her out and chased her to the river and tried to drown her

the dad came and got the man and they had a fight in the river

he implaed the man on a sharp stake and he floated off down the river after coughing blood out rather graphically

the children appeared on the bridge and the parents waved and said come over here

they all had a big family cuddle in the river grinning their heads off at the wonderful happy ending

incy · 26/10/2006 08:33

Thanks zippitippitoes

HumphreysCoroner · 26/10/2006 10:42

I thought it was brill and it is the first time in ages that I stayed awake and didn't need to record it

Still don't know how they will explain running Toby down. They will still be 'Wanted' people-surely?

UnquietDad · 26/10/2006 10:53

Load of rubbish. Stupid ending.

themoon666 · 26/10/2006 11:10

Stupid ending. Felt they cut it short. I mean... who was Toby? Where were his parents? So much unanswered.

zippitippitoes · 26/10/2006 11:13

Yes just killed a couple of people themselves and the body of the French man to explain away

Zippetydoodahzippetyday · 26/10/2006 11:15

Sooooo annoyed

DD (6) slept at my sister's house last night with her cousin who is 8. They watched this programme with my sister and DD said she was very scared and wanted to come home. I AM NOT FRIGGIN SURPRISED. I asked to speak to my sister to see why she let DD watch this (bearing in mind it didn't finish until 10.30) to which DD replied she was still in bed at 11.00!!!! and

Really cannot believe my sister was so irresponsible. DD will have nightmares for weeks now.

DP won't let her sleep there again which is a shame as DD loves staying with her cousin.

zippitippitoes · 26/10/2006 19:49

well it might have been rubbish butstill not at all suitable for small children {shock] How upsetting for you and dd...people have no sense do they?

VermiciousKnid · 26/10/2006 19:51

zippety

and [confused emoticon] zippi and zippety - that's going to cause no end of bother

zippety are you new?
