I like the idea of someone else being on the stairs. It would have to be Cindy.
It makes sense to me that it would be Jane though - bring back an old character to write them out again sort of thing.

And Kathy?? Erm..why? I think the script writers were a bit scared it was going to be a massive let down after building up the 'who done it' and brought Kathy in at the last minute for the shock factor.

Jane has to be protecting Cindy, Bobby, or Peter, whether she killed lucy to protect them or she's still covering for them. The only way she'd let harm come to of those kids is to protect another otherwise it's so out of character it's ridiculous.
