Southeastdweller · 16/02/2015 21:41

Getting mixed up with the actor who is definitely Iranian. Don't recall any explanation about the origins of the character.

Mrsjayy · 16/02/2015 21:50

Will be a mystery Smile the Actor who plays Aleks is German playing latvian he is quite famous in Germany apparently

RedCrayons · 16/02/2015 21:52

Kush is Iranian. He told Shabnam at Tamwars birthday when he was cooking curry.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 16/02/2015 22:00

Just watched the first episode. It was great, wish I could watch the next one.

SoleSource · 16/02/2015 22:10

Which channel was that on Anne, please?

temporaryusername · 16/02/2015 22:16

Since Lucy was killed, I've been noticing characters' reactions (like Peter's when he was told by Ian outside the Vic) and drawing conclusions....then I remember that we can't read anything into them presumably, if the actors don't know who did it. That seems like a bit of a problem, taking away the acting element of a major plot. I feel like whatever happens might seem a bit disjointed and fake because of that (I mean I know it's all fiction, but..). I hope the episodes this week turn out to be good after all this.

SabsFabulous · 16/02/2015 22:23

The first ever episode of Eastenders is available on iplayer, but it's the last episode in the list

RedCrayons · 16/02/2015 22:26

Just watching it now, the square looks enormous. Wonder if they filmed in an actual square at the beginning.

Fakebook · 16/02/2015 22:33

I just watched the first episode and am shocked at the use of the word p*. It's amazing how much meanings of words change over the decades.

Also shocked at why Pauline was shouted at for having a baby at her age Shock. She wasn't even that old! Probably late 30's.

If they're going to copy the first scene properly then the people to kick down the door should be Martin, Kush and...(our favourite demon child) Denny!

15mins for graham norton.

Fakebook · 16/02/2015 22:35

I thought the fruit stall looked massive compared to now. Surely that family owned market stall should be even bigger now and be selling all sorts of exotic fruit and veg. Instead it's shrunk. Hmm

Fakebook · 16/02/2015 22:38

Also, Jane looks and definitely sounds just like Kathy! It's like Ian's marrying his own mother Hmm...Confused

RedCrayons · 16/02/2015 22:40

I nearly choked when Nick Cotton said the P* word! Was that really used in mainstream TV in the 80s?

I don't remember the Asian couple running the shop.

Justmuddlingalong · 16/02/2015 22:53

You know you're getting old, when not only have you watched EE from the beginning, but you remember Linda looking like this in The Upper Hand. Shock

AnneEyhtMeyer · 16/02/2015 22:55

Did you find it, Sole? There was a link on here earlier.

The door should be kicked down by Martin, the pub landlord (name escapes me) and Ian as owner of the cafe.

buddhasbelly · 16/02/2015 22:56

anyone watching Graham Norton?

SoleSource · 16/02/2015 22:57

Anybody watching Graham Norton right now?

Yeah, thanks Anne :)
Lucy in audience, she not dead!! Confused

SoleSource · 16/02/2015 22:57

Me Budd :) looks good tonight

buddhasbelly · 16/02/2015 22:57

snap sole!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 16/02/2015 22:58

Oh my God Justmuddling - I had no idea that was who she was! Shock

AnneEyhtMeyer · 16/02/2015 22:59

Yes, watching now, Sole. Missed first 15 minutes as was watching Stone Age.

buddhasbelly · 16/02/2015 22:59

loved that clip and the way it had been filmed. That pic of the woman's wall as she's tried to solve the murder - we could easily do that with the EE thread!

SoleSource · 16/02/2015 22:59

Haha Budd Grin

God Justmuddling!! Wow!

RJnomore · 16/02/2015 22:59

I have just had a sudden flashback memory of the radio times printing a short story one Christmas about lofty and Michelle and Sharon.

My mum didn't really like me watching it in the 80s because she thought it was too grown up themes for me Grin

SoleSource · 16/02/2015 23:00

Ooh great clip with jane and Dot's narrative.
