I think it did well because it was the first smutty book for women that made it ok to read. Yes it could have been Better written and did get a bit boring after a while.

Read the article, not the best written stuff - yours truly is QS jen

OP posts:
Rhubarb01 · 14/02/2015 17:31

I saw that article too and agree with Icemist comments.

Whajeb interesting to hear the view of someone who has seen the film. I saw some reviews which didn't sound particularly enthusiastic.

Nickel45 · 14/02/2015 17:32

Just read the article and link. Made me appreciate even more what fabulous writers we have on here. I don't know how you write such amazing stuff, but you do!

I did think the woman who wrote the article was unnecessarily harsh though (but this line in their story, after they've had sex, "Clive then ... went and turned the TV on." did make me laugh!!!!).

Hope you've all had a good day. I made my lot go for a long walk in the hope of tiring them out (seems to be a recurring theme) but I think I'm more tired than them! Both ate a full size adult lunch (age 5&8) and an hour later were moaning about being starving! How?!?!? Off to feed them again ... !

Nickel45 · 14/02/2015 17:36

whajeb was JD at all fanciable in 50 shades? I read the book fairly recently after finding it in the charity shop, well some of it ... wasn't that impressed, the QS ff here is much better. I'll probably watch on DVD sometime, especially if you don't really rate it. Glad you've been to view it on our behalf, I don't think I'd live it down if I told DH I wanted to see it!!

Ilovelblue · 14/02/2015 17:54

Waited in all afternoon for CJ/BA to deliver my Valentine card but one of you lovely ladies in the south must have delayed him! We need icemist and all her screens and technology to work out when he's going to come up north!

WHAJEB1 · 14/02/2015 18:17

jen with hindsight I would wait till it came out on dvd but I know there are people out there who enjoyed it. I went with a good friend and we had a couple of glasses of wine and dinner beforehand so I thought tipsy me would just find everything funny but I was actually cringing at the end. I didn't mind the books as can forgive bad writing (you can tell with my ff) I have enough death and rubbish to deal with in my job to get annoyed about clumsy prose. I think I enjoyed the good old love story but that didn't come across in the film and I didn't find JD attractive. not that I think he isn't but I don't think you could with the part he was given. DJ did come across well as Ana at times. Saying that the closest to porn I've ever seen has been true blood so I am definately not the best to review. All I'm saying is there was more sexual chemistry over a bowl of coco pops than scenes in the red room! I did tweet that last night but thankfully drunken me did have a bit of sense and removed it xx

Richtea19 · 14/02/2015 18:38

Interesting getting your review whajeb, like most of you I didn't enjoy the book and only read it because all my friends were! jens QS is a whole lot better. I did mention to the friend I met today about going and she said good idea but for a laugh.

My special arrangements I made with the postman didn't pan out. No bunches of flowers or gifts or cards arrived from BA/CJ. I do think if we actually all ever met him and he new what die hard fans we are, he might take pitty on us and send us a card or a tweet??! DH bought be some flowers which actually were lovely! Dine in for 2 from M&S, although DS is going to a party tonight and all his friends are coming to our house for beforehand! Not so romantic.

Mini marathon trials, were fab, best time ever, so fingers crossed for the next trial! 17mins 38 for a hilly 5k.

Shopping was actually fun with my friends daughters, I just wish i could wear some of the clothes they tried on, age appropriate sprung to mind!

Really I could do with a CJ OG episode tonight, but i fear that would be a step too far, maybe a covert FF read Wink

Paintedcherryblossoms · 14/02/2015 20:39

Had to share my lovely evening my 11 year old one and only DS got my DH to help him cook a meal, DS then laid the table complete with candles and flowers and then dressed himself in a shirt and waistcoat to play waiter for our romantic meal...so cute Smile

icemistOBE · 14/02/2015 20:56

I'm out with hubby, he's gone for a smoke so I'm on here....

What a lovely thing to do painted

I got nothing in post either.., how cool would it have been to get a valentine card from CJ my autograph today

Very sweet Painted. What did you have to eat?

Watched Graham Norton properly this evening. It was very funny, made even more so by GN's clear distaste at some of the descriptions in the film! Prefer Jamie Dornan without a beard. Am not into beards in the slightest and I think it was Rhubarb who said how stupid the youngsters look with beards. Old before their time.

Also watched Bluestone 42. I can see what you mean now! It was good. I surprised myself how many times I chortled to myself!!

Friend coming up from Manchester tomorrow. (No, it's not icemist). I think we are going to do a snowdrop walk at an old hall locally if the weather stays fine.

pixieg1rl · 14/02/2015 22:39

On the wine and ff while OH watches the rugby.

The ff is going very slowly. The wine isn't. Ooops.

apsara03 · 14/02/2015 22:45

Watched bluestone 42 tonight -really enjoyed it then read the broad church fanfic -v funny lola

Richtea19 · 14/02/2015 22:48

painted how lovely, what a cute family. Can't say my valentines Eve has been rocking! DH fell asleep, but amazing how he wakes up to the iconic MoTD music.... They say romance is dead!

But on a plus side I got to watch what I wanted on the TV and caught up on some FF. I watched GNorton from last night with JD. I did think he looked rather nice withough the beard all cleanly shaven in the 50SoG clip. He has a cute up turned smile, a bit like a dolphin. :)

Ilovelblue · 14/02/2015 22:53

SPO has posted again! He may not be on here but he's definitely been keeping up with our ramblings - swivel chairs and QFs! I hope he appreciates that he appears in our "How to Talk CJ Collective". Nickel has tinkered very successfully with my spreadsheet now so hopefully will post it soon.

Nickel45 · 14/02/2015 22:55

Valentines day treat. spo is back! Yeehaw!!!
spo you have excelled yourself again ... QSCF (and the rest), love it! So pleased you are back (and paying close attention!)GrinGrin

Nickel45 · 14/02/2015 22:56

icemistOBE · 14/02/2015 23:00

No!! I'm still out with hubby and can't possibly read SPO now! A trip to the toilet I think Grin

God ilove would be fab to visit we could drool over CJ watch OG together Smile

Richtea looks like not only have we got The Sausage and The Raisin but now we've also got The Dolphin. You know the way WWF wrestlers have nicknames is it possible that our wrestlers will also need 'names' so that they can be introduced by Mark Strong wearing various outfits which they will of course whip off when they get down to business - having a cjwoof moment there.

Richtea19 · 14/02/2015 23:20

I've just read SPOs latest. Brilliant, and a swivel chair with a "launch for Orphan". I love it.

rhubarb oh yes nicknames for the contestants. They could have their names sewn on their satin capes, before the wrestling match. Another job up for grabs... The dis-robing of the wrestling contestant... Form an orderly queue. Wink

icemistOBE · 14/02/2015 23:28

Hubby gone for smoke ... Majorettes... Literally trying to stop my sides from splitting

OP posts:
Nickel45 · 14/02/2015 23:30

Just reread SPO, I was laughing so much the first time, I missed half of it. So brilliant, I don't know how you manage to get so much of what we rabbit about into your story. Very clever indeed .... But who are these mysterious intelligent, sophisticated and erudite fans, sometimes prone to a degree of silliness?!? :) silliness?!!, ok you can have that, but intelligent ... Hee hee hee (ok just me not recognising myself then!!)

pixieg1rl · 14/02/2015 23:33

I'm printing up a line of t shirts with 'majorette' across the chest (various sizes available to accommodate a range of icebergs) to sell at the AGM....
