It's back on Thursday! here. No details of contestants yet. How many men this time? Any?

Ten sewers, six weeks, can't wait!

(Can't think of another word for sewers at the moment, wish I could!)

I always thought Patrick was gay - is that not the case?

PigeonPie · 08/02/2015 20:38

Sew Today emailed me last week with the patterns which were featured - I subscribe to the magazine but you can also find it here.

By the way, when I was a tailor on Saville Row, I was the only girl (and I was a girl at the time only early 20s) in a very male orientated sewing room.

SoupDragon · 08/02/2015 21:04

Patrick is either married or has a long term female partner I believe.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 08/02/2015 22:27

I'm surprised at that, Soup.

SoupDragon · 08/02/2015 22:28

Since 2007 his girlfriend has been Katie Hillier, who is the creative director at Marc Jacobs

According to Wiki.

JeanneDeMontbaston · 08/02/2015 22:29

I could be wrong, but I think he made a reference to his partner, in a context that indicated she was a she? I'm now doubting myself.

No doubt in any case, rous will tell me I was wrong about the false lashes! Grin

I just couldn't take my eyes off them. Between him and Paul Hollywood on Bake Off, fluttering at the camera ...!

JeanneDeMontbaston · 08/02/2015 22:30

Ah, cross post.

GutsyMcMuffin · 08/02/2015 22:52

Thank you PigeyPie that's reall useful. I can't see the one I wanted, but I've probably remembered it wrong I think I'll have to re watch it (shame).

BOFster · 08/02/2015 23:05

What a wonderful career, Pigeon- I bet you've got some stories?

Roussette · 09/02/2015 09:35

Wow Pigeon you can be our very own 'Creative Director' or our 'Resident Expert' on this thread! I love sewing, I used to sew but I am lapsed and clueless!

I shall be looking into Patrick's eyes closely on Thursday --to check for falsies- but dammit I have a meeting I have to go to on Thursday night so I will have to do it on iPlayer which is a bit of a bummer, but will leave this thread in capable hands I'm sure and can come back and read all your comments. Smile

I agree about beardless Patrick. Bring it back! I'm tempted to tweet him to ask, but would that be rude?

The woman in the short-sleeved blouse with the 9-foot shoulder pads –it makes her look more like a female impersonator than the ACTUAL female impersonator.

The 6ft very glamorous ex-trolley dolly has some great 60s gossip, I'd wager. She'll go far and may even win. Army Man is deeply impressive but I wonder if he'll show enough creative flair?

Alex takes it all very seriously. I can imagine her stropping off when things don't go her way.

I love Claudia.

PigeonPie · 09/02/2015 17:01

Hank you Rousette Smile. Been a long time since I did any proper sewing sadly. Still do mending, curtains and making the DSs dressing things and one day I'll get on and make myself clothes too.

Quenelle · 12/02/2015 10:23

I came here to look for patterns too. I also like Other Man's Wife's Favourite Dress. PigeonPie I can't find it on your link, does it have a name or reference number?

Would it be simple enough for a complete beginner to make? I've only ever made upholstery for our campervan before and not sure the boxy look really suits me.

Sewing Bee is my new third favourite programme. Such easy, uncontroversial viewing which is so refreshing.

mineallmine · 12/02/2015 12:17

Quenelle, I have to ask. What are numbers one and two?

Quenelle · 12/02/2015 12:38

Wolf Hall and The Good Wife.

Now that The Jump has finished Blush

SoupDragon · 12/02/2015 14:06

Army Man is deeply impressive but I wonder if he'll show enough creative flair?

I didn't think Heather had the creative flair to win last time until she pulled it out of the bag with that final dress. I think in both series the contestants have either been superb at the technical side or superb at the creative side but not both. Some were good at both but not superb.

SoupDragon · 12/02/2015 14:07

From Season 1, if you had combined Anne's technical skills with Tilly's creative ones you would have had an absolutely fantastic sewer.

dillite · 12/02/2015 19:58

Anyone watching tonight? I am watching with one eye as the other one is busy concentrating on sewing.

This is just by the by, but why oh why do all patterns get shown using such garish and hideous fabrics? Where do they even find such ugly patterns? It makes it impossible to see what the pattern is actually supposed to look like once sewn.

SunnyL · 12/02/2015 20:04

I'm on the sofa with a bag of felt and a needle and thread with every intention of making some valentines badges. let's see if I can pelmet eyes away from the TV long enough

Halsall · 12/02/2015 20:07

Hmmmmm, Patrick looks as though the beard might be making a stealthy reappearance.....

SoupDragon · 12/02/2015 20:08

I was just about to say the same about 5 o clock shadow!

dillite · 12/02/2015 20:10

Alex is awfully unattentive for someone who claims to be so crazy about attention to detail.

Halsall · 12/02/2015 20:11

Let's hope he's seen sense Grin

BOFster · 12/02/2015 20:19

I'm late! I've looked forward to this all week.
