It's back on Thursday! here. No details of contestants yet. How many men this time? Any?

Ten sewers, six weeks, can't wait!

(Can't think of another word for sewers at the moment, wish I could!)

Aww, nice lady. But right decision.

Roussette · 05/02/2015 20:56

Awww, do think she was a bit out of her depth

Annie seems lovely.

Roussette · 05/02/2015 20:57

SoupDragon · 05/02/2015 20:58

Oooh - child's waistcoat. I made one of those out of a Primark net curtain and no pattern!

I like that they don't do GBBO-style dramatics on this. It's very gentle, isn't it?

Roussette · 05/02/2015 21:00

Yes BOF, it is just plain nice. And everyone always seems to like each other and genuinely sad when one of them leaves.

I loved it. Standard seems v high. Wish Patrick would grow his beard back. He's just that bit less perfect looking without it imo. Also didn't get the raving over the pink tutu. The bit of shirt left in it seemed wonky to me but obviously not. Army Man my favourite so far. Have nicknamed him Action Man. I thought Claudia was a bit too shouty at times.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 05/02/2015 21:31

Not convinced by the tutu...

RigglinJigglin · 05/02/2015 21:58

Blatant place mark....

Loves the colourful bird print dress. Am tracking down fabric now for a dungaree making for DD.

SoupDragon · 05/02/2015 22:30

The tutu was a rubbish "alteration"

bluelamp · 05/02/2015 22:32

.

bluelamp · 05/02/2015 22:37

Sorry about that. DC v excited since Amanda is a teacher at their school, lots of squealing when they saw their friends.

Agreeabout rubbish tutu, thought some of the other skirts were fab though. I thinkit's between army man and older lady based on this week.

SoupDragon · 05/02/2015 22:40

I think younger dyed red haired woman could be one to watch.

ToBeeOrNot · 05/02/2015 22:49

I loved it. Standard seems v high

Do you think? I'm always amazed by just how inexperienced a lot of them seem to be.

Instituteofstudies · 05/02/2015 22:55

ToBee I suppose it's relative. I can't sew to save my life, so it looks very high to me :)

Icimoi · 06/02/2015 00:16

In the initial blurb I thought Alex was going to have a problem when she said she was perfectionist and would keep redoing things till she got them right. As she doesn't have time to do that with the Sewing Bee I thought she was bound to struggle, and so it proved.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2015 06:26

Wrt the inexperience, I think we need to bear in mind it's edited to provide entertainment and more drama is produced by struggles than calm competence. I think the time constraints make a difference too and also the fact that they may be used to making the same sort of things at home.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 06/02/2015 06:57

Last year I think the first two men to go had been obviously picked just because they were men for the sake of good telly or a better mix of people, and they really weren't up to standard. This year you could perhaps say the same again of some (most?) of the men, but obviously Action Man is there on merit and a real contender. I'd be surprised if he actually won though - you need real design flair to do that and it's not been evidenced so far.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2015 07:04

I not sure last year's winner showed design flair until that final gown though.

SoupDragon · 06/02/2015 07:05

Although I would agree he is being set up having "military precision". Being his main skill.
