It was the picnic on the beach that got me. They were wrapped up in coats & it was obviously v windy. Just like north UK. I get the feeling he is prone to fads (like DH) - magic this month, model building next month, emigrating to Oz month after that......once the novelty has worn off or difficulties pointed out he loses interest.

Liked this family. I knew some Sth African who lived in UK and have since moved to Perth. I get the impression Australia (esp. Perth) is a lot like Sth Africa.
Felt sorry for the mum - didn't seem as bubbly and happy as she was previously. Hopefully that'll change once she gets a decent job and settles.

People with a genuine reason to want to live in Oz - and prepared to follow it through. Noticed how she did all the talking though. He seemed the strong silent type.

Yes Sparkling - seems like growing up in South Africa he was used to a lot of outdoors & open spaces that weren't available or accessible in UK.

I missed the reason why he wants to move to NZ but I did catch the bit where they would be leaving her mum behind, who is her only other family. He is the driving force and she and the kid are unsure.

He lost his brother suddenly - not sure about other reasons. She has great clothes and looks fab.

His brother died a couple of years before. He said he realised life was short.
