OP posts:
Batmam · 10/02/2015 11:58

Just caught up, despite ming hair and man cave the husband seemed like a nice guy...what the hell did he see in her? Completely hen pecked

SamanthaClaire · 10/02/2015 12:18

I think being in jobs dedicated to little folk, they were both a bit banal and squirly. Over the top enthusing and serious faced dedication. But hy, that's no bad thing. Just because I treat my job with contempt and sarcasm, doesn't mean everyone should! Wink.
I've just re watched lots of recent WDU and WDU revisited. Everyone seems to love their uk job. And they're all desperately attached to their four walls. And most seem to love their extended family without measure. So why are they going at all?

Batmam · 10/02/2015 12:22

That Debbie seemed possessed, it was in her eyes. We WILL goAngry And she was trying to drag her brother along too, her poor parents.

Imagine the fall out when the visa didn't come through!

SamanthaClaire · 10/02/2015 12:38

A one woman crusade. I'm not sure of the stats, but I'm sure when one is so for it and one very indifferent, it may happen, but not for long. I often wonder how many relationships break up on the back of these differences of opinion. If one wants and the other doesn't, someone is always dissatisfied, and that has to be a recipe for, if not disaster, certainly long term resentment.

Bakeoffcakes · 10/02/2015 13:36

I haven't watched today's- but have loved all your comments, very funny!
I'm going to watch on catch up so I can see demon Debbie.Grin

forago · 10/02/2015 14:27

also just catching up, actually had to do some work this morning

I think this one may have overdone things back in the 90s, all that gesticulating and gurning!

if I hear the word "lifestyle" one more time - did she not hear the teacher saying we only teach outside in the summer months - Australia does have a winter! surely you'd be better off somewhere like Florida for that year round outdoor thing?

aphrodites · 10/02/2015 14:49

I agree on the lifestyle front, why is that on the activities day they always take them to a zoo or a beach to be followed by comments such as oh we could never do this at home. I beg your pardon? Last time I checked, we live on an island and we have plenty of zoos in the UK.

you can sum up the entire premise on the show on pure fantasy of a place never visited before, (frankly, I don't think many of the people on the show have left their county before) follow by a largely mediocre potential improvement in 'quality of life'. What is with the pool obsession? when you factor in the cost of moving they could easily build one in the UK or buy lifetime membership to their local one.

SamanthaClaire · 10/02/2015 14:54

It was the same old same old...lifestyle, outdoors, time as a family, pool, work life balance, etc. Which is all well and good, but it would be nice for once...just once, if someone could go for completely different reasons.
Say,...I hate my family and can't wait to live 10,000 miles away from them.
Um,...I want to live in the outback in a station because I want to get out of the rat race and earn less than I do now.
Or,...I need to live in a big city and earn a mint whilst partying hard and shagging all the birds.
Just for a change, you understand.

SamanthaClaire · 10/02/2015 14:57

And I'd love to see a revisited where one party decided to go and the other stayed. Not that I want to see divorce, but sometimes the differences in marriages are so great you gotta wonder how they stay together.

Hillingdon · 10/02/2015 20:17

It sounds like they mucked up the visa application!

Cherrypie32 · 11/02/2015 09:23

Morning! Can't think why these would go. Daughters too old now surely. House they are staying in is vile, that blue leather suite!

Vagndidit · 11/02/2015 09:24

Anyone watching this morning?

Vagndidit · 11/02/2015 09:25

Why are the families from Wales the most out of touch?

sailorsgal · 11/02/2015 09:27

yes I am here. Made it back through a road closure. Grin

northender · 11/02/2015 09:28

WDU bingo, WOW walk in wardrobe, WOW hot tub blah blah

Cherrypie32 · 11/02/2015 09:28

Walk in wardrobe obsession again, shoot me now.

Vagndidit · 11/02/2015 09:30

Well done sailor!

Batmam · 11/02/2015 09:31

How do they vet the applicants for this show? Surely 99% just want the holiday

northender · 11/02/2015 09:32

Is it just me, could you not rent a massive place here for £1200+ and what mortgage could you get for that money?

Vagndidit · 11/02/2015 09:32

They seem to have a healthy rental budget despite their current home looking a bit...uh...under budget.

Cherrypie32 · 11/02/2015 09:33

Actually looking at the picture on the website I'd say they do go.

sailorsgal · 11/02/2015 09:33

I think they will be going.

Vagndidit · 11/02/2015 09:35

I'd go for that salary!

northender · 11/02/2015 09:36

Sorry being v negative today, how is that salary £20000 more than in the UK, doesn't sound right

Batmam · 11/02/2015 09:37

That's cheating Cherry!Wink
