Thread number one.

So are we all still watching, despite the mumbling, bad writing and inaccuracies?

I'm not sure what ClaireGwen is up to, but they've written her to like kinky sex which in telly land means she's a bad un.

Last night's highlight for me was DH's genuine confusion over whether subtitles were for the hearing impaired or vision impaired (he may have had a couple of beers). Also sweaty Lee hammering in fence posts.

Has that junior solicitor fella been in something on CBBC?

When does The Missing season 2 start?

Yeah, that didn't sit right with me either. Vicars should be neutral - so visiting their parishioners in prison but also supporting the victim's family is perfectly OK. But he should not be called by the defence.

Pooseyfrumpture · 04/02/2015 12:13

You know, I think it's reached the point of complete obsurdity now, and I'm loving it Grin

I haven't a clue what's going on - the accents are getting more awwwwwwful; DT is passing out then running up hills; OC is solving things, wearing the same clothes for days and not feeding or changing the miraculously undrowned disappearing-when-convienient child; everyone else is changing their stories Hmm

How many weeks left now?

atticusclaw · 04/02/2015 12:16

Whether or not a hundred people were trotted out to say "yeah he's a good bloke" is completely irrelevant to the issue of whether he did it. Hence character witnesses are pointless and a waste of the court's time. Stupid storyline.

Fiderer · 04/02/2015 12:16

Becca and Rory is the most unlikely romance. I remember thinking "Eh?" at the end of S1 when they had the beacon/fires along the coast that Rory organised and Becca lit the one Rory and I assume most Broadchurchers were at.

That aside, don't get his angst about visiting Joe in prison and why that could be a plus for the defence. Hope he has the sense to tell Mark and Beth first and point out he was going as he believed Joe to be repentant but more importantly, because it's his job.

More of CR was good but could do without the details of MJB and her son. One story line where I'd have have been happy with a bit of mystery/back story only ever alluded to cryptically.

Enjoyed the music and moody standing on the cliffs shots. Did worry about the doll Mark was holding tightly to his chest, she seemed to have no face at times Grin

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 04/02/2015 13:15

DT's illness is getting a bit annoying now - every time he looks like he is going to have a funny turn I'm just like 'oh not now Alec'! I was another who thought at the time that going for a walk along a cliff top isn't the best idea if you could keep over at any moment!

MissM · 04/02/2015 13:34

I reckon they're all guilty, except the new baby. Was clearly a total shagfest down in Sandbrook. I was questioning how the Sandbrook dad could have a hope of beating up Lee, until I realised it was just an excuse for Lee to get his kit off again. Which was nice.

FoxyMcFox · 04/02/2015 13:36

Yes it was essential to the plot that Lee removed his tshirt to check out his bruises Grin

MissM · 04/02/2015 13:43

I did wonder how he was going to wash them though, living in that folly on the hill.

Awks · 04/02/2015 13:46

I live by the sea and can walk on the cliffs too. I'm also about the same age as Millah, but I never get up at 5am to walk on the headland and phone other people who are also up at 5am. Though the sunrise shots ARE stunning Grin

Am loving this completely absurd nonsense though and Lee's top off shots

APlaceInTheWinter · 04/02/2015 13:49

Mmm, in that case perhaps Lee and the Rev Rory could come to blows too Grin

I was going to type I can't quite believe all the affairs going on in Sandbrook but then I remembered one of our neighbours did have an affair with a married neighbour . . .maybe all cul de sacs are just a bottle of rohypnol away from wild wife swapping parties Confused

MissM · 04/02/2015 13:51

Oh, and the paedo group bit was weird - why would pedophiles all gather together in a church for everyone to see? Surely the whole point of being a pedophile is that you don't want people to know who you are?

Awks · 04/02/2015 13:51

Phwoor

Broadchurch thread 2- the one where everyone in MNPD requests a transfer to the traffic division
MissM · 04/02/2015 14:03

Ooo! (Do you think the writers read this thread then re-write next week's episode with a semi-naked Lee shot to keep us happy?)

Fiderer · 04/02/2015 14:04

Agree the church scene with the group was awful and so unbelievable. I wonder if that's Rory's secret and why he is so keen to get Beth involved, as some sort of atonement.

The hip-flask ref was just a Big Clue to the Rohypnol I reckon. Which makes me think that it had something to do with the night the girls disappeared. Maybe Lee wanted to use it on Lisa but Pippa got hold of it/drank her drink and it killed her/incapacitated her and she fell.

Thought maybe the dad was in on it as the bridesmaid said he was heading to the car park but he wouldn't have gone back to Sandbrook and risked his daughter seeing him.

seaoflove · 04/02/2015 14:45

I didn't understand the church scene either. I mean, if Beth really did want to put Danny's name behind a charity that works to rehabilitate sex offenders (I think that's how it was described to her last week) then surely she only had to meet representatives from the organisation, not an actual church full of paedophiles!

MissM · 04/02/2015 15:14

Grin at 'church full of paedophiles'!

seaoflove · 04/02/2015 15:16
Grin

It was a bit ludicrous though.

chaiselounger · 04/02/2015 15:33

Why should the new baby be the only one who is not guilty? She's probably guilty of masterminding it all!!

OnlyLovers · 04/02/2015 15:52

Well, she's got her ad he's not her dad, the vicar is wrapped round her little newborn finger, hasn't she? Grin

OnlyLovers · 04/02/2015 15:52

dad. FFS.

MissM · 04/02/2015 16:23

Only because she didn't physically exist. Mind you, in this series anything seems possible so go on then, add her to the list.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/02/2015 17:05

havnt a clue about anything, apart from claire seems to sleep with everyone Grin

and did the hipflask have drugged drink in it?

much prefer DT clean shaven

would a mum PK really try and get her son NC banged up for a murder he didnt comitt?

would two lawyers go out and have a fag break together

love this thread,as you lot explain it all, though blondes is still confused- Grin

APlaceInTheWinter · 04/02/2015 18:48

Yy the implication was that taking a hipflask to a wedding meant you were going to drug a bridesmaid Hmm as a PP said the writers obviously haven't been to enough weddings.

eddiemairswife · 04/02/2015 18:59

rather confused about the Sandbrook side of the story. Lee and Claire lived next-door to Pippa(murdered, body found). Older cousin who was baby-sitting has disappeared (last phone signal Portsmouth). Is Rick Pippa's or cousin's father? Who was at the wedding? Lee? Claire? Pippa's parents? Cousin's parents? All of them? Have we met the mothers of Pippa and cousin? Why was Lee accused? who has slept with who? I know Claire claimed to have been drugged and woke to find Lee cleaning the house. Do we know any more about the pendant that DT's wife lost?

katese11 · 04/02/2015 19:04

A really stupid question about Sandbrook...Was Pippa def murdered? She was in the river so could she not have drowned accidentally?
