Couldn't see a new Eastenders thread, so I thought I'd start one. Apologies if this is a duplication.

Great to hear Christian could be coming back.

I agree - I think Shirley has niggling doubts...

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2015 07:56

Yes I think because he is clinging on to shirley she is accepting (maybe not believing) his story.

VashtaNerada · 21/01/2015 09:48

Yes, I don't think Shirley actually believes him but she desperately wants to.

differentnameforthis · 21/01/2015 09:54

just read some comments on fb that Shirley is doubting Dean, (because he said it happened in the lounge when Linda said the kitchen, so it made her think) but that she wants him to think shd still believes him.

Note: havent seen recent eps yet, just up to where Nick takes baby from Roxie's

SymphonyofShadows · 21/01/2015 10:00

I thought it was really good too. Kellie Bright, who I haven't really been a fan of, was particularly good. I think Shirley has doubts too, and asked for details to see if they differed from what Linda told her.

I know this is shallow but the Pretty Flamingo thing is a bit odd. It's years older than both of them (1966) so it feels like it has been shoe-horned in to make Mick look like a proper cockney geezer

theRotcod · 21/01/2015 10:07

I only saw the end yesterday so will have to watch.

I'm glad EastEnders have done this storyline. I think they've done a brilliant job. I hope Kellie Bright wins the soap award she's been nominated for as I think she's done an excellent job.

bleedingheart · 21/01/2015 10:07

I think Shirley doubts Dean but feels she can't 'abandon' him again.

I'm disappointed in Stan but not surprised.

Southeastdweller · 21/01/2015 10:09

I agree that last night's episode was well done. Dean makes a horribly plausible case for Linda giving her consent.

SpanishFly · 21/01/2015 10:21

I'm disappointed in Stan but not surprised.

I wonder if it's partly his stupid male pride - he has found out that Dean isnt his son and is therefore not supporting him. Also, Linda isnt a blood relative so he's doing what a lot of people would do, and he's sticking with the blood is thicker than water thing.

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2015 10:26

Yeah I think all of that Spanish also he is dying he doesn't want his grandson to be a rapist he wants however long he has left to be fine

SymphonyofShadows · 21/01/2015 10:28

Isn't he also horrible anyway? I can't remember why but Mick left him in a wheelchair at the side of the road once.

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2015 10:31

Yeah he was a vile old man when he first came into it oh just remembered Dean was the only 1 in the family who bothered with him when he lived in his flat nobody else cared

Southeastdweller · 21/01/2015 10:36

With Stan and Shirley, I think guilt also comes into it as they were barely there for Dean when he was growing up.

bleedingheart · 21/01/2015 10:45

I think he was horrible but we've seen some nicer aspects of him recently. A bit of wisdom and calmness. He handled the 'Mick is not his son but actually his grandson' situation with grace and with kindness towards Shirley, which we wouldn't have expected a few months ago.

He wasn't quick to condemn Linda but then suddenly decided she was lying when she wasn't there and Dean was.

Then again he funded Dean's shop and has had a soft spot for him all along.

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2015 10:55

I like stan and it took me --weeks- a while to click it was Timothy West who was playing him

differentnameforthis · 21/01/2015 12:09

I think Shirley doubts Dean but feels she can't 'abandon' him again.

Or is scared as to what Dean will do if she does....

bleedingheart · 21/01/2015 12:30

Maybe different She is very keen to avoid upsetting him even after or because he attacked her previously.

Does anyone think they'll make Dean turn out to be Lucy's killer?

I hope not as it will muddy the waters but would also be a good storyline for Shirley, potentially.

I thought it was Abi for a long time, now I think Jane but I still want it to be Ben and I want him to be arrested so he has to leave the programme.

bleedingheart · 21/01/2015 12:30

Terrible grammar there! I'm sorry!

SymphonyofShadows · 21/01/2015 12:55

I hate what they have done to Ben but I hope it's not him. It will end up being something ridiculous, like previously said.

SpanishFly · 21/01/2015 13:03

whoever ends up being the killer, it'll be a massive disappointment. It'll either be "too obvious" or "too contrived" or there will be plotholes that dont make sense.

bleedingheart · 21/01/2015 13:20

I agree Spanish, unless it is a real wild card that can be justified (like if it was Ian, everyone thinks it won't be because the actor won't be leaving but...), it's likely to be a bit of an anti-climax.

I hope it isn't a real bit part character like Fat Elvis or Cindy Senior's sister! They'll be riots! Grin

VashtaNerada · 21/01/2015 13:24

I really hope it's Fat Elvis now! Or Dagenham Dave. Grin

SymphonyofShadows · 21/01/2015 13:50

Dave was from outta town...

Fakebook · 21/01/2015 14:04

Was anyone listening to radio 1 earlier? Apparently there's going to be a massive clue about the murder during the NTAs. I never watch these awards ceremonies, wondering if I should just this once..they're so bloody boring.

Fakebook · 21/01/2015 14:32

This just came up on my newsfeed. It's starts at 7.30pm tonight if anyone's interested!
----------

This evening's event at London's O2 will see all the suspects attend, with a "major clue" being unveiled during the ceremony.

"EastEnders are keeping their cards close to their chest, not even divulging the information to NTA execs," read a statement.

"The clue will remain under lock and key, guarded by tight security until mid-show, when BBC security will bring the clue on stage, to be revealed live on air."

---------

Seems like a serious clue!
