Couldn't see a new Eastenders thread, so I thought I'd start one. Apologies if this is a duplication.

Great to hear Christian could be coming back.

why the hell is Richard Blackwood coming into it????

In the '80s he described himself as UK's answer to Will Smith. What was the question, I wonder?

Mrsjayy · 20/01/2015 19:37

Oh Dean gives me the creeps he looks so seedy

Mrsjayy · 20/01/2015 19:39

Im sure Richard Blackwood modelled himself on chris Rock too but that went flat

fixedit · 20/01/2015 19:44

What do we think shabnams secret is?

Katiekins90 · 20/01/2015 20:19

I noticed the Richard Blackwood posters outsides Phils' house Grin

Mrsjayy · 20/01/2015 20:24

Thank god for that thought it was just me who saw it it is like enders are dropping in clues

VashtaNerada · 20/01/2015 22:38

Thought tonight's episode was excellent - the way they juxtaposed the two 'versions' worked really well. Linda was so believable. As was Dean actually, the whole thing felt very 'real'.

badRoly · 20/01/2015 22:44

I thought it was very well written and acted too Vashta.

Harverina · 20/01/2015 22:59

Yes agree it was excellent. Dean is very believable too because he probably has convinced himself that he didn't do anything wrong.

Excellent acting by Linda. I feel so bad for them. Can't wait for Thursdays episode now!

In real life how long would it realistically take for someone to be arrested and questioned? Will it be this week or will it take a while.

Do I need to get a life?? Blush

Pyjamaramadrama · 20/01/2015 23:11

Brilliant acting by Linda and Dean, especially Linda. It was so realistic for once. Eastenders are doing a brilliant job.

Not looking for sympathy but just to answer pp question, a very similar thing happened to me and I reported it months later after confiding in someone. He was arrested a few days later, bailed and then I later received a letter from the CPS saying that the case would be dropped due to lack of evidence.

I expect that is the way it will go with the storyline as that's life unfortunately. It's hard enough to prove rape even if it's reported immediately as there's still the question of consent.

I can sort of see now why they did the pregnancy storyline as it all points towards Linda lying, because she got in a mess, didn't know who the babies dad was. In rl the woman's name often gets dragged through the mud.

Pyjamaramadrama · 20/01/2015 23:16

I've actually got a great deal of comfort from the storyline and I'm embarrassed to say that as it's just a soap but Kellie Bright has been amazing.

I hope that EE continue to make it real and not do a fairytale ending.

Harverina · 20/01/2015 23:30

I do hope that they keep Linda and Mick together. The writers never seem able to leave couple alone. There is never any longevity anymore! I have been with dh since school so it does still happen!

Pyjama - sorry to hear you had a similar experience. I think you are probably right about the outcome with this. EE bosses did say not to expect Dean to get prosecuted etc but hopefully Dean will pay for his behaviour in other ways in terms of the family not believing him
And backing Linda.

Deans scenes were well acted too.

LeprechaunsAndUnicorns · 20/01/2015 23:32

But do you remember the dress she wore during the rape? She took it off and hid it in the wardrobe. So I assume that may play a part as evidence?

LucyBabs · 20/01/2015 23:41

Oh leprechaun [Sherlock]
Yes makes so much sense now

jimmycrackcornbutidontcare · 20/01/2015 23:53

She put the dress in the bin a couple of weeks later. Maybe somebody took it out - Cora for the charity shop? Doesn't prove consent though.

Cuddledaroundacat · 21/01/2015 00:18

I found lindas account very harrowing, it brought back memories of when I was raped many years ago by someone I considered to be a friend. It was in my own home and my children were asleep upstairs so I couldn't scream. Very similar circumstances, I never reported it as it was my word against his and he had been welcomed in my house. I think things have changed a lot in recent years but I do think that many rapes go unreported just because of these reasons.

VashtaNerada · 21/01/2015 05:47

So sorry for those of you who this has happened to Flowers I hope they do get a conviction - even if it rarely happens in RL - as it might encourage others to come forward.

SpanishFly · 21/01/2015 06:27

I think Dean's acting is superb. And I think EE have handled it so well - he's the cure, cocky, loveable chap - why on earth would he rape someone? And actually, when you think back to the rape scene, I'm sure there are some/many(?) males who wouldnt actually think he did much wrong.

Linda was superb last night.

Actually, I was impressed at the filming style last night too - when they were both giving their accounts of what happened at the same time.

Pyjamaramadrama · 21/01/2015 07:21

I agree there Spanish I bet there are some people watching saying "well it wasn't really rape, she didn't fight back, he didn't hurt her, I'd have fought him off if I was that bothered". Even what Stan said about he can't have seen Linda complaining at the time, I suppose because Deans the good looking young cheeky chappy.

But if it challenges even a few people's thought process that can only be a good thing.

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2015 07:37

Though t the 2 accounts were superbly done it was very intense and dean just creeped me out do you think Linda really believes him?

SpanishFly · 21/01/2015 07:38

*cute

Yes, absolutely - I really hope it provokes some kind of discussion in some households, at least. If one person explains to their son why it WAS rape, then they've achieved something.

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2015 07:39

I shuddered at the bit when Dean said well she was fiery like she enjoyed the chase.

SpanishFly · 21/01/2015 07:49

yep, brilliantly done - he thought she was playing hard to get.

Fakebook · 21/01/2015 07:50

Agree was a good episode. I think Shirley slightly doubts Dean though but he's guilt tripped her into believing him. Horrible man.

Mrsjayy · 21/01/2015 07:53

Och I meant Shirley not Linda
