I cannot spend the afternoon thinking about CJ's thighs. I can't.

Oops. Too late.

Rhubarb01 · 13/01/2015 12:52

After all the weekend conversations regarding the wrestling couldn't help smiling at the front cover of the Radio Times today which has dear Damian Lewis staring out at us, ginger-bearded and wearing a floppy hat. Methinks Damian could well be gracing Graham's sofa soon! (whispers) Heads down everyone - no more uncoooked sausage comments!

Also, as I was perusing said magazine, which to be fair has gone down in my estimates and disappointed me a little in the autumn by not being the greatest supporter of OG, I noticed Bluestone 42 starts a series 2 re-run on BBC1 from this Friday if you haven't yet caught it, ladies, another chance to do so and I assume it will be on i-player again!

elsie3g · 13/01/2015 13:09

Playing catchup here as I'm still answering questions from last night yes, this is yet another attempt to delay doing my tax return, don't make me feel worse about it, I really must close the MN tab on my computer!

But in reply to outin's question about is it CJ or BA...my response is 55/45 CJ/BA. But one of the main things for me that drew me into the show as a whole was CJ & MD's relationship. I've always be a sucker for the 'will they won't they', 'sexual tension' storylines and I think BA & LT did an amazing job acting it out.

For me it was convincing. Looks-wise they seem well matched and they seem quite natural together - that's why the restaurant scene is so good; it just feels like you are watching a couple who are attracted to each other meeting up. It's got that awkwardness at the start as they try and make conversation, the flirtation and the looks they give each other convey so much more than is said. All these elements just make it so believable, hence why it feels so real. There's no doubting the chemistry. Great casting!

I think it was TG's Q&A on Facebook where he said he'd been persuaded by a couple of the female crew members (maybe one was the producer I can't recall off the top of my head) that women would take quite nicely to BA... and it appears they have.

But for me at least, it's partly down to the excellent playing out of their relationship as it develops. I think people have invested in the relationship to such a degree they can't just leave it where OG ended. Hence the FF to fill in the missing gaps in time not shown on screen (between ep3&4), the internal monologues and all the various FFs describing what happens next (or in an alternative world)....people feel they really know these characters and just don't want to let them go.

Anyway musing over Wink

Ilove I was so excited a couple of weeks ago that my boss had taken on a new guy for one of the other departments. He was ex army. I don't know why, but I assumed he would be a CJ look alike and for some ridiculous reason thought he'd turn up in combats. I made sure I looked my best for the big reveal last Monday and can't tell you how disappointed I was. I think I stood with my mouth open looking DOWN on him. He was short fat and balding. The moral of the story is NOTHING compares to CJ so please don't build your hopes up.

Nickel agree major side step by Outin

cjwoofwoof · 13/01/2015 13:34

Thanks for the tipoff re BS42 Rhubarb I've only seen a couple of episodes and the Xmas special recently but am warming to the dark sense of humour and of course the uniforms are an added incentive. Can't wait for Damian Richmond to start Wolf Hall either. Don't care if he is pink, I wouldn't say no.

ilove I agree on the Mary Berry/Delia type reviews over QS ff. I'm defo in their age bracket for a start. Mary Woofy has a certain ring to it - makes me sound like I know what I'm talking about which is always a bonus Smile

icemistOBE · 13/01/2015 13:37

That is rather funny onefor

Oh no have I missed something? Has outin revealed BA is not one for the ladies? It'll be like George Michael for me in 1988 all over again. I can't take spindly legs AND a limp hand in the space of 24 hours, my nerves are in shreds. Outin spill now, that is an order!

threadNneedle · 13/01/2015 13:45

Just watched First Light which someone helpfully gave the link to vimeo.com/45585260 (thank you!)
I think it's definitely worth a watch - BA is younger and a bit too clean shaven but plenty of brooding looks and authority.

Oneforthegirls · 13/01/2015 13:49

Icemist The funniest thing is, I had to have a quick chat with him. He'd been in the army for 20 years, was quite institutionalised and got the impression he was a bit anti women in the army and assume probably anywhere other than the kitchen sink if you get my meaning. I will have fun though because my boss said I could use him as extra resource when needed. Can't wait to shout, "put some bloody effort in," "what have we just learnt" etc, etc.

cjwoofwoof · 13/01/2015 14:05

Mary Woofy recommends R&R and Beyond ff by bookreader26. Wish they would do a spellcheck and English grammar a bit iffy but story is comfortably readable but very little in the way of soggy bottoms if you get my drift

icemistOBE · 13/01/2015 14:07

Its ok that one, but I find it hard to read with the errors etc

orphan · 13/01/2015 14:34

Phew. Come back and all is well. CJ's legs confirmed as the real deal. Dare we ask for confirmation of the Bulge?

Friends of mine had drinks at the cocktail bar at the Shard ( think it's called Gong) at night. They said it was amazing but vv expensive.

Off to read the ff recommendations.

Ilovelblue · 13/01/2015 15:10

Onefor I have confessed on previous threads here that I used to work in an organisation that dealt with the RAF on a regular basis. We had a number of ex-RAF officers in the department and I have to say, my impression of them did vary. I worked for an ex Wing Commander who was lovely and also a Squadron Leader who was utterly charming. I had dealings with others though who were, as you suggest, completely chauvinistic. I also worked for an ex-Army Major. He was so horrible that I asked for a move and totally blocked him from my memory - only recalled his existence when a retired work friend and I were chatting about previous bosses just before Christmas. Chauvinistic, yes, expected you to jump to attention when he demanded something and had even said once that if we were all in the army, he would have had us on parade every morning! I raised a complaint about him in the end and even went to work on a different site for a while.

I also confessed a few weeks ago that I had been on a flight from RAF Valley (where Prince William was based though it was long before he was there). The pilots were GORGEOUS without exception, but then again, it was the uniform and the fact that the majority of them were nearly a foot taller than me. Definitely something I have never forgotten!

Ilovelblue · 13/01/2015 15:12

cjwoof and icemist must say that the ff with serious spelling errors/bad grammar etc do turn me off a bit. They don't really get the Ilove seal of approval.

Richtea19 · 13/01/2015 15:55

Gosh more FF recommendations, it's going to be a busy night, I haven't watched Broadchurch from last night yet.

Inevitably I put off the housework this afternoon, and did some sewing whilst watching Ep1 from the beginning without fast forwarding to CJ bits! I have made two cushions for the boys den which of course encompass the "Stag". (Poor kids they have duvet covers too!! I've probably marked them for life.

Great handiwork Richtea!

orphan · 13/01/2015 16:56

richtea those are the nuts! I'm sure with your needlework skills you could make a duvet cover with a life sized appliquéd CJ adorning it. (Up to you whether he was combats on or offWink)

Onlygirljen · 13/01/2015 17:00

Have just finished a really crappy day at work, feeling really sorry for myself today. Zero job satisfaction at the moment Sad

Don't tell me there's been an outing by outin to make the day even worse?

Just read some ff to cheer me up -
Persuading Charles is getting really interesting! And judging by the mention of soft tape measures we may have another incognito author in our midst? Fess up ladies! (or spo?!)

orphan · 13/01/2015 17:00

Enjoyed reading the Jpcrafty ff this afternoon although it did seem rather illicit as I had to sneak off to read it in private cos we've got workmen in at the moment. Fortunately for them, neither look remotely like CJ or any of the wrestling contingent - about 30 years too old (so roughly my age then, considering my cougar tendencies!!)

Onlygirljen · 13/01/2015 17:04

orphan the jpcrafty one is excellent, put a spring in my step this morning, I must say! Blush

orphan · 13/01/2015 17:16

Don't worry onlygirl it's been a shock free day I think. outinpopped in to verify the deliciousness of CJ's legs, so panic over!

Hope you have a better day at work tomorrow. Smile

Richtea19 · 13/01/2015 17:17

I've just read JPCrafty, rather lovely afternoon reading!

orphan I think you can get duvet covers and cushions printed with a picture of your choice through some companies. I do think judging by DH response to my ringtone and general moody responses when I mention OG or CJ it's best to avoid a kingsizee duvet cover with CJ in combats.

Oneforthegirls · 13/01/2015 17:17

onlygirl
Are we taking a silent sidestep as from Outin as an outing or have I missed something?

As for FF, afraid I have to switch off if really bad punctuation etc. Loving persuading Charles, and the smutty one from this morning.

pixieg1rl · 13/01/2015 17:18

Jen beat me to it, come in which one of you is channeling Jane Austen?

Onlygirljen · 13/01/2015 17:24

Sorry, onefor I may have jumped the gun whilst skim reading and seeing references to George Michael! Blush. Am I alone in not being that bothered? Not like it's going to happen in RL anyway!! Obviously just cos of the husband and sprogs, nothing to do with the complete gulf in looks and extra 2 stone of residual baby weight...
