I've got a feeling...that tonight's gonna be a good night

Help yourself to an ADMIT ONE pass if you're a fan of The Musketeers with a clear allegiance to at least one, preferably no more than four.

Oh yes Bads Carcassonne......just looks bloody lovely. Love love love the south of France. Have you been to Gordes?, we always seem to gravitate there, the Luberon and Drome are so beautiful....the light is incredible, you can see why the Impressionists liked it so much

MadamedeChevreuse · 11/01/2015 11:07

Morning! Loving your travel bucket lists - very inspiring. I really should get some enthusiasm for travel - I feel like a freak, but right now I have no burning desire to go anywhere very far afield. Probably just something to do with having a little kid, I hope?

Red Scarlach's review is HILAIRE. Brilliant! Especially: "Rochefort's coat seems to get shinier in every scene. By the end of the series, he'll be able to roast a turkey in it" and "Milady's back, wearing an outfit that the fashion magazines are probably calling Autumnal Outlaw Chic."

Re: Ep 3 - Why is a Moor, with a full-on Arabic name, a general in the Spanish army in 1630? I'm pretty sure this would have been like Germany having a Jewish, Yarmulke-wearing general in their army in 1943. I know it's not supposed to a documentary, but...sigh.

MavisGrind · 11/01/2015 11:12

Morning all.. Some excellent stuff posted today, will go back and catch up properly later.

I'd like to do a bit more travelling - I really want to go to Iceland at some point and travel round Italy.

Right, better get the dcs out of their PJs. Layers

Enormouse · 11/01/2015 11:15

I really want to do a few motorbike tours. Currently planning a uk/Ireland jaunt either this year or the next but I want to do Europe and America eventually.

Travelledtheworld · 11/01/2015 11:15

Hopefully Iceland will be our next trip. Has anyone been there ? With teenagers ?

Travelledtheworld · 11/01/2015 11:19

Good morning Wenches.
Internet has been down since 11pm yesterday. Whole family frantic about not having done homework, on line banking, destroying empires, pointless quizzes etc.
Back on line now. Phew.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 11/01/2015 11:35

Other places I like to travel to are NYC, New Orleans, Ljubljana, Florence, Venice, Verona, Salzburg for example Smile

MadamedeChevreuse · 11/01/2015 11:48

Ive been to Iceland ttw - but when I was a teenager! So a while ago now Hmm. It was lovely, seemed v relaxed and probably an easy place to be with a family. Expensive then. Dont know about now cos it's after their massive economic meltdown...

MiladyBeaWinter · 11/01/2015 11:48

Morning. Had a lovely lie in this morning, kids slept late and then DS came into bed to watch cartoons while I read. It appears to be slushing outside so no plans to go anywhere or do anything.

Madame I think it is to do with the having kids thing. It eases as they get older. Every year DH and I try and have a long weekend sans kids while they stay with my parents. The first couple of years I refused to go anywhere more than a couple of hours drive away and for one night only. We've now built up to European breaks (we did Carcassone trip before last Elk and was amazing) and last time was for 4 nights. I reckon by the time they are teenagers we'll be heading to the Maldives for two weeks at a time .

DH and I used to travel a lot before the kids. We had them late so big holidays were our thing. Always independently. We started out Greek island hopping and went from there. Remember when you had to book your accomodation based on Rough Guides and not Google? We would just turn up somewhere and find accomodation. No way would I do that now, especially with the DC.

MadamedeChevreuse · 11/01/2015 11:57

mrsb I hope so! I think I am a bit of a homebody though - and years living in forrin makes you want to get to know your home country better I think...Id love to travel round the countryside in scotland properly, have only been to edinburgh.

Thinking of going to costa de la luz in spain for this summer hols...we know it well cos lived near-ish. Its just amazing, great beaches, natural, untouristy, not heavily built up like other spanish coasts. Apart from the easy children's parties, it's probably the one thing I really miss!

FancyFancy · 11/01/2015 11:58

Morning everyone.

Thanks for the recap links, they are very good & make me want to go & read her Merlin ones.

Toddlermouse sounds like he has skills that could come in handy in certain situations, like gaining access to a filming set in Prague.

Both DCs are trying to arrange meeting with friends later in that typically disorganised teen way of people making suggestions with no idea how it'll actually happen. Because no-one has spoken to their parents about little details like whether the parents have other plans, or how the fuck am I going to get to said town unless mum or dad can drive me there.

ChaiseLounger · 11/01/2015 12:07

Loving hearing all this travelling talk. Remembers too when you just turned up ala MrsB.
I have never been to Las Vegas or St Barts/St Kits.

Everywhere else I ever wanted to go to, I have been.
Would like to go back to NYC with dh.

Do you remember we talked about the lovely Adam Richman, man v food, played with santi football. Best diners in the usa. That kind of thing.
When I win the lottery, I'm just going round the world, with a schedule - which county we go to, ONLY based on best places to eat!!!!!!

ChaiseLounger · 11/01/2015 12:09

Dreams of somewhere like Madame's Costa de la Luiz - I need sun. I want sun. I'm fed up of glamping in the shit British weather.

MadamedeChevreuse · 11/01/2015 12:13

Let's all go on a wenchy summer holiday!

MadamedeChevreuse · 11/01/2015 12:16

Mentally at least.

Punta Paloma - Im just popping here now. See you in a bit...

Ds2 is watching Minecraft videos on youtube
Dh is doing something with wood and drills in the conservatory
Just got back from seeing mum.
Off to pils later for dinner.
Really must have a bath.
One load in dryer.

MavisGrind · 11/01/2015 12:23

The beauty of being a LP with a co-operative XH is that you get loads of time to yourself where you could feasibly go travelling. The downside to being a LP is that you've got fuck all cash with which to go travelling with Hmm.

Some winter sun sounds inviting although when it comes down to it I hate it when it's really sunny.

We've done fuck all today except watch Tom and Jerry and Despicable Me. The dcs are still in their jammies and I cba to get them dressed. It's one of those days I think.

LaComtess · 11/01/2015 12:24

Afternoon wenchi

Well, I've been cracking on this morning sorting meals for the week. In 2 hrs I have made; 2 lasagnes, I chicken casserole, I chicken curry, 2 containers of chili con carne, 2 cottage pies and a tray of flapjacks. I've also just chopped all the leftover veg for a big pan of morrocan chicken and veg soup , plus prepared the salmon for lunch.

Ha! Take that Jamie.

Love the Red Scarlach stuff. Except why oh why do people insist on injecting homoerotic undertones? (Actually New Year's Eve poll with gay friends suggested they ALL watch it hahahaha, 100% of invited gay friends watch (m and f))

MiladyBeaWinter · 11/01/2015 12:29

The only place I really want to go to and haven't is Africa. I want to do the whole cliche Treetops safari thing. DH is adamant that he really doesn't want to Hmm

Oh and New York. He doesn't fancy that either but it's my sisters 40th this year and we are planning a weekend away to celebrate it and she's mentioned NYC. She's also mentioned Prague Shock.

Awww Mouse bet that's frustrating (and worrying) to live with day in day out. In a few years you'll be looking back and be amazed how things have changed but right now that's not what you want to hear eh? Like all of us would you just want it fixed now. If you ever need a good rant and to flail about a bit then you get right in here and do so. Well even get virtually pissed with you Wine and eat Cake.

LaComtess · 11/01/2015 12:34

Mr c and I did a lot of travelling on the v cheap when we were younger, lots of rough guiding and sleeping on the roof (Istanbul), in someone's garage (Romania) and last time I was in Prague which wasn't long after it had just had the revolution we slept in the front parlour of a flat where the lady renting to us therefore slept in her tiny kitchen. She did a cracking breakfast tbf.

Travelling: we used to have friends living in Figueres Grin , have stayed there many times. They're now in Toulouse so Carcasonne trip quite feasible next time we see them.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 11/01/2015 12:55

Bads which airport?

Comtess I'm impressed, sounds delicious! Smile

MrsB how about a weekend in Stockholm? Then we can meet Smile

SparklesRedHotChileLeather · 11/01/2015 13:00

Who's rewatching tonight? Mavis did you say you were?

MiladyBeaWinter · 11/01/2015 13:07

We did Oslo for her 30th WW so it's a possibility! She has a friend living in Stockholm .

I'm hoping to Sparks but DH is in a right arse today, so he may wish to redeem himself later Hmm or watch a film or something.
