Notebooks at the ready Grin We should have enough information at the end of the first episode to start cooking up some slightly implausible theories.

Oh, and Charlotte Rampling - I acknowledge that she's a really good actress, but she was in Dexter when that turned really sh*t, too, so it doesn't bode well...

I'm worrying now that theym going to do a who shot J.R/ it was all a dream.

Apparently Ellie uncovers a important clue in mon night episode but don't know if it's about Danny's case or Sandbrook!Smile

OnlyLovers · 16/01/2015 15:19

I think CR might be blind or losing her sight, too. Presumably it'll be significant either to this case or at least to her past?

I do wonder if the characters who were introduced and then quickly got rid of, like Pauline Quirke, will turn out to be significant. I was convinced in S1 that Danny's dad was dodgy (as well as being a philanderer), and I wonder now if it'll turn out that he is.

APlaceInTheWinter · 16/01/2015 16:09

Claire is allowed into the court - the public are permitted to enter courtrooms

yy I meant it wasn't plausible for someone in a pretend witness protection scheme to think it was wise to break her cover at a high-profile hearing where she could be spotted by the person she was hiding from, by the media, etc.

MmeMorrible · 16/01/2015 19:28

OK, have given in and starting watching series one today and am three episodes in. So far I just don't buy that it was OCs husband. How could he hide it so well, keep smiling etc?!

MmeMorrible · 16/01/2015 19:29

Also abut freaked out that Danny's duvet cover is identical to DS's. When his Mum sat sobbing on his bed, it was gut wrenching.

MissBattleaxe · 16/01/2015 20:45

Mme Morrible- You would have to watch the whole of series one and especially the last episode to know that it SO was him. And he would keep smiling because he doesn't want people to know he's a murderer!

Rollergirl1 · 16/01/2015 21:50

MmeMorrible: Also bear in mind that apparently none of the actors knew which character was the killer during filming right until the very last minute.

LillianGish · 16/01/2015 22:10

It's interesting isn't it. First series was brilliant, but the conclusion disappointing. Now it turns out the conclusion may in fact have been inaccurate so it wasn't really the conclusion, which would have been fine if we hadn't had to wait this long to find out thus forgetting all the important clues, details and theories from before. Never mind notebooks at the ready, we need to find our old notebooks!

ArsenicFaceCream · 16/01/2015 22:22

From memory, the wikipedia entry for Broadchurch says the writer wrote the first draft in something like 2003. So he had a decade to refine and polish it and it would have been a complete entity by the time it was bought (even if the production company did make some changes).

Contrast to that, a timescale of months to dash out the 2nd series, on commission, with a full array of excited senior production staff in on it from the beginning, all with their own 'vision'.

I think that's what we are witnessing Sad

What is Olivia wearing on Graham Norton it's not doing anything for her

BOFster · 16/01/2015 23:05

She looks radiant though. I do love her.

Quenelle · 17/01/2015 07:32

Heard a trailer for today's PM on R4, they're going to discuss the legal inaccuracies thing today.

Rollergirl1 · 17/01/2015 08:23

DH and I watched an old episode of Peep Show last night (God it's funny!). OC has always been brilliant but she has definitely blossomed and grown in to her looks I think.

Has anyone seen the film Tyrannosaur? Probably one of the most bleak and depressing films I have ever seen. But OC is outstanding in it and it just goes to show what a stellar actress she is.

LIZS · 17/01/2015 08:59

Apparently the one person who did know during filming of series 1 was OC!

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 17/01/2015 09:35

I don't get the whole 'not telling the actors who the killer is' thing - they did it in Eastenders as well with the 'who killed Archie' whodunit. Surely they should just tell the actor who is playing the killer and no one else and then it would be exactl like real life?!

Angelto5 · 17/01/2015 11:06

In the soaps don't they film numerous conclusion scenes with the different possible murderers so no one knows who it is till it's aired?

MissBattleaxe · 17/01/2015 11:59

Angelto5- I don't think they did that with Broadchurch. It was an 8 hour whodunnit.

Angelto5 · 17/01/2015 12:06

It was in reply to will's post about eastenders Smile
Filming multiple endings is another way to prolong the who done it question.

Anyone else feel they over analyse every prog & film on tv?Wink

wowfudge · 17/01/2015 16:04

Yes LIZS! On Graham Norton last night did she say she guessed and the producers confirmed it or that they just told her it was her character's husband? I wasn't paying full attention.

LIZS · 17/01/2015 16:43

I think they told her , then called to tell her to keep it quiet!

ChaiseLounger · 17/01/2015 21:04

I am very confused ATM. I still don't think its OC's dh. but then don't know who : they all seem guilty: dad, vicar, all of them!

MissBattleaxe · 17/01/2015 23:44

Can I just ask if the posters who don't think its was Joe watched the first series?
