Notebooks at the ready Grin We should have enough information at the end of the first episode to start cooking up some slightly implausible theories.

OP posts:

Oh nooooo, I really want this to be good! Sad

David Tenant's character is like a man who is pretending to be a cop, with the meeting and the amateur bugging, the whole thing is just ridiculous.

They should have left the sub plot out, it's crap.

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 12/01/2015 22:18

Also, didnt DT run right past the two women into the field to look for them - surely they would have gone the opposite way?!

Nerf · 12/01/2015 22:19

Yes! Like someone you'd met on POF who was trying to convince you he was a police officer but kept getting details wrong.

chubbychipmonk · 12/01/2015 22:21

Yep gutted too! Series 1 was brilliant & so far this is crap! Episode 3 has a lot of making up to do!!

songbird · 12/01/2015 22:28

I agree - so much about this is crap. The list is endless, but the worst for me is that for all his faults I simply cannot believe that wosisname would send Ellie back to her house :-(

MadameJulienBaptiste · 12/01/2015 22:32

I think I said last week that it wasn't very good in a 'trying too hard' kind of way. So I sat down to watch it hoping tonight would be better.
well as they say 'that's an hour of my life I won't get back'.
Barristers meeting up in all sorts of places with all the witnesses. Think the scriptwriters read a dummies guide to law that mentioned 'building a wall of defence'...
and how quickly was that trial arranged? ??

Ludicrous and crap.
at least I'd got my knitting out by the first adverts so 45 mins of it wasn't a total waste of time (quite fancy the stalker husband though).

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 12/01/2015 22:33

I am still quite interested in the main 'Joe Miller' plot though. Surely it must be significant that the Latimer dad is meeting with Tom in such similar circumstances as Joe met with Danny?

The vicar looks well dodgy again this series as well.

Whenever that big cliff comes up I always get goosebumps!

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 12/01/2015 22:35

Oh yes, they keep going on about 'the wall of evidence' Hmm

Agree that the stalker husband is quite hot!

homebythesea · 12/01/2015 22:41

Clearly the court scenes were not given the once over by a lawyer- witnesses listening to others' evidence, legal argument (incrediblyhttp brief) in front of the jury, instant decision by judge without consideration., 2 female QC's and a female judge just sends it over the edge in terms of plausibility

AWholeLottaNosy · 12/01/2015 22:41

Watching it an hour later. So many more bloody legal innacuracies! But hey let's not let the truth get in the way of a good ( crap ) drama eh? Angry

AWholeLottaNosy · 12/01/2015 22:43

Meera Syall as a judge? Love herbut keep expecting her to make a joke..!

AWholeLottaNosy · 12/01/2015 22:46

FFS! The legal argument about the confession would have happened before the trial itself and not in front of a jury!

Oh well think my main pleasure in watching this will be picking out all the bloody legal inaccuracies...

Willferrellisactuallykindahot · 12/01/2015 23:03

Having now RTFT, I would also like to add that I know absolutely fuck all about the legal system, and I'm totally unobservant and crap at spotting anything in TV dramas: but last week even i said to DH - 'it's the cps Not the family who get the lawyer isn't it?'. It's a huge inaccuracy!

cerealqueen · 12/01/2015 23:08

I'm quite hooked, despite the twists and turns.

is Claire the District Nurse actress that had a show all about her and she used to dance in her living room and go beyond the call of duty for her patients?

PartTimePunk · 12/01/2015 23:20

Goodness, that was a bit crap. Apart from shouting at the tv about all the legal inaccuracies, I spent the last few minutes of it thinking about how annoying Beth is and how tempting it would be to give her a good slap Blush. Im worried about my levels of empathy.

AgathaF · 12/01/2015 23:20

FFS that was ridiculous. Escaping through a window, in full view of the copper stood out there. It must mean they were in it together somehow though, or else why wouldn't she have shouted out? Bloody good job the windows weren't locked, what with the house being empty and all Confused.

I think this series does need the sub plot though. There just isn't enough in the trial alone to keep the series going.

Oh, and was that a SOCO dusting for prints etc in DTs hut (wasn't concentrating at that bit)? If so, how did that happen?

PartTimePunk · 12/01/2015 23:22

Agatha - it was, and I think he was doing it unofficially as a favour to Ellie.

cococandyfloss · 12/01/2015 23:30

Ellie's photos and unit tops had not a smidgeon of dust on them -impressive!

rollonthesummer · 12/01/2015 23:55

Poor Ellie-would people really treat her so appallingly? She's lost her job there, her home, her husband, her son. It wasn't her fault :( Beth is pissing me off now.

What possessed Alec to think doing the meeting in Ellie's old house was a good idea?! Gwen must be in control of that whole situation with the ex husband though- otherwise she'd have called out. I wonder what the hidden cameras will show!?

Norfolkandchance1234 · 13/01/2015 00:07

Joe is covering for Tom who is covering for someone else which is probably why he had Danny's phone.

Actor playing Tom was in silent witness last week which is a big clue IMHO for what is in store here.

Norfolkandchance1234 · 13/01/2015 00:09

Who sent the bluebell and why doesn't DT ask Claire. Is the girl in hiding not dead and if so why. Is DT involved, did the girl kill her cousin/ niece by accident.

eddiemairswife · 13/01/2015 00:10

I have always found Beth irritating.

Norfolkandchance1234 · 13/01/2015 00:11

Actor playing Tom was in silent witness last week which is a big clue IMHO for what is in store here. Because he is a very good actor so will come into his own soon.

katese11 · 13/01/2015 07:13

Beth blames Ellie for not knowing about the secret meetings but...errrr...She didn't know either! is she taking out her own sense of guilt on Ellie? Or is she just really annoying?

fuzzpig · 13/01/2015 07:25

DH reckons the bluebell is because the other girl's body is buried in the bluebell field.
