Trundles to bed.....

FancyFancy · 08/01/2015 22:37

thanks for the book rec anne - I can never have too many of them

good to hear the cough is improving helen, even if it is slow progress. Keeping fingers crossed for the all clear on your water.

Think I'll follow you with your virtuous examples and log off now. I need to get a few things done before going to bed & if I finish in time I'll reward myself with a few chapters of my book.

Night all

JessCate · 09/01/2015 09:35

Morning all!! Ugh I've been away for days being ill Sad better now though, just in time for tonight!!!

BloodyElkFire · 09/01/2015 09:49

Morning folks, how are we all?

Mave if that sticker doesn't say HOT there's something amiss.

I was a huge fan of Murray Gold's soundtrack - lots of cello bits, and wasn't keen on the ravine music to start with, it sounded too much like a theme from a western, which is a genre i'm not overly fond of.....but then I started thinking about more modern westerns...the remake of True Grit, 3.10 to Yuma, Tombstone...and I realised what I don't like is Laramie, and being made to watch it on a Sunday afternoon bored out of my 8 year old brain. So, I've talked myself round full circle and, Paul Englishby's tunes have grown on me. Plus I liked his jumper....looked like his gran had knitted it Grin

'Making of' vids are fascinating, I love knowing how things are put together. The CGI was excellent, so believable....although I wasn't thinking 'don't fall'......more 'wheeeeeeeee'! That looks ace, the lucky bastards....I want a go! Can you imagine if the director suggested doing it for real, Tom would have his phone out of his pants and be onto his agent quicker than you could swish a sword.

Flopsy, nearly the weekend...how's your first week back been?

Woo hoo...my new phone is coming today.

Right, back to the midden....Made a fair amount of progress yesterday. The bedroom looks quite boudoir-ish, although MrE did want to know what I'd done with his nuts and bolts, random screws, old receipts and loose change pile he likes to keep next to the bed Hmm

BloodyElkFire · 09/01/2015 09:53

Oh and Anne, Master and Margarita is one I keeping opening, reading a line, then falling asleep. Maybe you can spur me along with it, that and the 100 years of solitude.

who am I kidding, I still haven't finished the one I took in with me when I had BabyElk.....hmm, I suspect there's a link Hmm

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/01/2015 09:54

Hell Elk are we married to the same man? Or maybe they are all the same. DH builds up a pile of that crap next to his bed, which I sweep into his drawer on the morning our cleaner comes - he then says, every week without fail - Alibaba have you seen xyz gadgety-widgety thing? There are an increasing number of boxes in the garage full of this kind of stuff, he just will not be arsed to sort it out. Drives me batshit.

Shopping is here, must to do laundry and some baking ready for friend coming to stay tomorrow.

11 hours wenches, 11 hours!

BloodyElkFire · 09/01/2015 10:20

Alibabs yep, that's exactly what happens in our house. I occasionally have a moan about the pile of spanners, monkey wrenches, 5L tubs of PVA, knackered old Caterpillar boots, angle grinders, carburettors etc as he thinks just behind the back door is the appropriate place to keep them and I can't get the pram in and out. I've had to stop seeing the pile by the bed...you've just got to pick your battles or you'll drive yourself mad!

however, team Tom...Bottom right has done it again I'm never going to get anything done at this rate!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/01/2015 10:44

OMFG Elk - that bottom right one! I just thought 'I could climb right on'. Good God what is wrong with me Blush

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/01/2015 11:23

Also, Athos IS Grumpy Cat Grin

Alibabs there is NOTHING wrong with you. It's the rest of the world...
Elk you'll def. enjoy top right

ApricotCrush · 09/01/2015 11:37

Morning wenchi! Beautiful day here, quite spring-like.

It’s a man thing with all the gadgets and stuff isn’t it? DH not only has a drawer in the bedroom, he also has a shed and a workshop which are full to the brim with drills, chain-saws, routers, sanders, planers, decorating stuff, plumbing stuff, electrical stuff, you name it. I never venture.

9½ hours and counting! Grin

BloodyElkFire · 09/01/2015 11:39

Alibabs it's the look on his face isn't it....in my head it's saying "go on then...I dare you"

and thank you Helen, I'd also thought I was a shoulders and upper back girl, but Tom Burke's Arse (

BloodyElkFire · 09/01/2015 11:45

Oh dear you too Apes Hmm

MrElk has 2 sheds, 3 garages, a bedside drawer and the spot behind the back door....yet for years months I lived with an engine block on my dining table. I'm either the most tolerant person in the world I'm really not or I've been gradually brainwashed over the years.

When we move...which may be in a couple of weeks - squeeee!!!! - MrElk will acquire another double garage, another she,d a warty little carbuncle of a bungalow and he's got designs on the 4th bedroom. I need to get in there first and mark my territory somehow.....what says girl cave to you?

FurFoxAke · 09/01/2015 11:46

It's like that here too.

I'd get in there and out up loads of musketeer stuff on the wall.

BloodyElkFire · 09/01/2015 11:50

I think this deserves a place here.....I think that might be our chaise, does it look wipe clean to you?

Swagger Inn. The Morning after the Night Before. BBC Musketeers (Thread 75)
BloodyElkFire · 09/01/2015 11:50

Good idea foxy....wall to wall Muskies....never a bad thing

alsmutko · 09/01/2015 11:54

Yup. My DP has boxes of crap on his side of the bed. And piles of paperwork. Every so often I go round there and accidentally kick a pile over in the hope that it might get sorted.
Mind you I filed over a year's worth of paperwork myself partly in an attempt to work out if I had actually done last year's tax return. But at least my piles are in a filing tray on top of the filing cabinet not on the floor next to the bed.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 09/01/2015 12:08

He's such a luvvie though Grin.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/01/2015 12:42

DH is a complete squirrel for hording things that might be useful. But then again, so am I, so can't really complain about the fecking piles of random coins, receipts, junk etc essential ManStuff he accumulates in random piles.

Elk The Bunglow is yours, all yours. Unless you'd rather have the spare room so you don't need to leave the house.

Oh cr@p Smut tax return - oh yes. What can't HMRC realise I'm too busy working to sort out tax stuff?
