...before the previous thread here rolls off a cliff.

Someone wanted a character list. I have, with a bit of help from Wiki, come up with:
The Mighty Carrie
Quinn aka Woopert. Most of us definitely would, despite the resemblance to a ferret.
Lockhart - once hated, now we have some grudging respect.
Saul - all that is right and good in the world, with a passing resemblance to Life of Brian man who hasn't spoken in years.
Dar Adul aka Salieri - what's happened to him?
Fara - once an IT fraud geek, now an intrepid hands-on agent who doesn't keep enough of an eye on her bin bags.
Martha, the nice ambassador
Denis, her nefarious husband
John, second in command at CIA Lahore HQ, we're warming to him
Aayan aka Pi, now sailing the heavenly oceans with a tiger
Sandy, former CIA chief, now pushing up the daisies
Aasar Khan, aka Raza, aka Hot Spooks Guy
Bunran Latif, the General, aka Art Malik
Haqqani, the craggy Taliban leader who prefers to shag next to a bearded man chained to a radiator
Tasleen, aka one of the Kardashians.

Have I missed anyone?

And yes carrie looked so clumsy holding that gun Grin

WhyYouGottaBeSoRude · 15/12/2014 09:39

Listening to the news this morning where they are reporting on a building being taken over in Australia and a black ? Islamic militant flag being flown, it makes this story arc a little close to reality

Yes i thought that too. It was quite surreal having watched homeland and then i went on FB afterwards and a very similar scenario being played out in RL. I forget how much HL is based on reality sometimes. Really hope the siege ends with no death.

Chandon · 15/12/2014 09:47

I am worried they will kill everyone off .... I don't trust the makers of this programme. At all. If Quinn dies I am out!

Nancy66 · 15/12/2014 10:09

The nice Pakistani guy in the military uninform (Khan?) is so going to die isn't he?

GypsyFloss · 15/12/2014 10:55

He'd better die in a blaze of redeeming glory in that case!

Chandon · 15/12/2014 12:24

yes, he let carrie down. why?

WhyYouGottaBeSoRude · 15/12/2014 12:47

I wonder what authority or hold tasneem has imover him?

I suppose it wouldnt be well received that he 'betrayed' his own country by helping the CIA. I guess he knows he would be killed if he went against tasneem as she is buddies with haqaani.

Nancy66 · 15/12/2014 12:51

is she his superior?

WhyYouGottaBeSoRude · 15/12/2014 13:02

I dont think so. He is military and she is intelligence i think.

Lagoonablue · 15/12/2014 13:12

Yes I agree. If Quinn goes I do too!

They would be mad to get rid of him though. He is a good contrast to Carrie and comes from the dark side of the CIA. I would love him and Carrie to get it together, even if just for a one off. I think she would break his heart though.

OneSkinnyChip · 15/12/2014 13:24

I think he will die happy if he gets it on with Carrie just once Thanks Thanks Thanks

GypsyFloss · 15/12/2014 15:59

I want their love to be unconsummated. She's shit at relationships and it would end very badly for Quinn. Someone upthread mentioned the landlady being an agent. I'd love her to appear and be his right hand woman, kicking some Taliban ass.

Hassled · 15/12/2014 16:04

Oh I like that theory about the phones - there's a pleasing logic to it.

I wonder if it was significant that they've shown Carrie to be a lousy shot? Is there going to be some future moment where her lousy shooting will be important?

Roonerspism · 15/12/2014 16:20

Some crazy theories here... But I guess most series end with some twist so why should this be different?!

deadwitchproject · 15/12/2014 16:24

OMG Fara no! Carrie/Saul hurrah. John RIP. I haaaate Lockheart even more now. Denis still a snivelling monkey bum coward. Tasneem so cold. Stupid Zaf. Quinn....

deadwitchproject · 15/12/2014 16:33

re: the phones, this is my theory: Saul told Quinn that he couldn't identify what the phone looked like or what make it was but he said Haqqani's group use new burner phones everyday.

Quinn is thinking that these are the burner phones for that day, so if he can bug one of them he can listen in and track Haqqani.

BingoBonkers · 15/12/2014 16:51

Chandler Bing how I've missed you! Such a resemblance between Max and Chandler.

WhyYouGottaBeSoRude · 15/12/2014 16:57

Why is Virgil not with max? Was that explained?

GypsyFloss · 15/12/2014 17:00

Have we seen much of Virgil this series? I can't remember .

guineapiglet · 15/12/2014 17:19

Hi all, just caught up.... What a roller coaster of an episode Like us all was very shocked by Fara's death, horrible of Haqqani to single her out in such a way, but entirely credible. With everything going on in Sydney and other similar events previously, everything is alarmingly true to life, US-Pakistan relations must hang by a thread....
I really did not believe however that a major US embassy, in a volatile and hostile city had no more than 50 marines to defend it. Martha said there had been 36 US casualties, so a combination of Intel CIA types us marines, surely such a sensitive city would warrant more back up of their own personnel and not external forces?Shock
Also why would you keep all your special intel in one black briefcase?!?!? Making it an easy and vulnerable target. Surely such classified stuff would be encrypted somewhere inaccessible? Seems a bit Mickey Mouse to me.Surely burning stuff is very primitive?!!
Are they really leaving Carrie on her own there despite an edict from the President???
Quinn was magnificent and very very hot in his black gear.

deadwitchproject · 15/12/2014 17:26

I don't think Denis is the only ISI tool and agree that another character may be a turncoat. Could definitely be Lockheart but I think he's just a moron. There's a remote possibility that Saul has "done a Brody" and turned at the last minute.

WhyYouGottaBeSoRude · 15/12/2014 17:32

Surely burning stuff is very primitive?!!

What else would they do with paperwork in an emergency situation? They cant all queue up for the shredder. Incineration is quick and does the job. The computers were also supposed to have been cleared but the physical paperwork is harder to destroy insantly and also far easier for terrorists to steal. (No hacking required)

Not sure about virgil- i dont recall seeing him this series.

I was just thinking today that the actors must all be wondering how long they'll be in the show for when they get the job as the death rate is so high. You'd really want to be giving your A game Grin

guineapiglet · 15/12/2014 17:43

I suppose I find all the paperwork somewhat superfluous really, I thought technology had resulted in the introduction of the paperless office!!!
I agree there would be classified documents and paperwork as works in progress, I guess shoving this in an incinerator is the only option, but with terrorists armed with sub machine guns en route, I just thought their secure lockdown position, to burn stuff and then disappear to a vault, which actually opened surprisingly easily, seemed a bit Mickey Mouse = therefore vault becomes target and all the terrorists wait outsideConfused....

Roonerspism · 15/12/2014 17:57

The major flaw for me was that there would be a drain leading the way into the US embassy that was only padlocked.

I mean - if I was in charge of security for the place, you just wouldn't let that happen, would you?

But as soon as you look for flaws, it spoils it so I'm context not to and fantasise about hero Quinn instead.

WhyYouGottaBeSoRude · 15/12/2014 18:08

Yes i did giggle at the tiny padlock. I also wonder how carrie et all got in and out if it was padlocked? I dont remember either her or sandy using that small tunnel bit when they were sneaking out.
