SPO that's a brilliant write up intro thingy.

cherin hope you feel better soon. You aren't going to believe this, but the best thing I have ever found to cure a bad cold is a whiskey called (wait for it) Stags Breath Liqueur. I bought some years ago when I was touring round Scotland, and it is gorgeous, whiskey and mead I think, but it is worth trying if you can get your hands on some.

pixie love the caption. I've been trying to think of one while I was putting the kids to bed, and the best I could come up with was "rain in afghan? well that's never gonna bleeding happen" but decided that was crap, so not going to suggest that!!

orphan · 30/11/2014 21:43

Can't top pixie but how about:

With the start of the rutting season and the known devastating effect of CJ stag's pheremones, precautionary measures were taken.

Or :

The costume department went to great lengths to preserve Smurf's deathly Newport complexion.

Ilovelblue · 30/11/2014 21:57

How does this sound? Sorry it's taken me so long. I have kept being interrupted tonight

We at Mumsnet have been completely drawn in by the recent Our Girl series and everything Molly Dawes/Captain James. We felt frustrated at the time lapse between episodes 3 and 4, at which point it was apparent to the viewers that Molly and the Captain had admitted their attraction to each other but had agreed to “wait out”. All we had seen was Captain James resting his forehead against Molly’s in the final scene at the hospital in episode 3. As a group, we agreed there was so much left unsaid on screen that we wanted to try and fill in the missing details between the two.

We have kept within the plot lines so that our two alternative chapters fit neatly (we think) between episodes 3 and 4.

It is our first foray into the world of fanfiction. A few of us have joined forces to write these chapters and if you like them, it may well inspire us to do more.

The characters belong to Tony Grounds and the BBC although we really wish they did belong to us!

Still talking of fanfic, has anyone read this one? Apologies if somebody has already posted the link and I've missed it. It does get better as it goes on in a warm, fluffy, well-written-Mills-and-Boon kind of way. Don't quite get though how she starts off calling CJ's ex wife Sarah and then goes on to Rebecca. Can only assume she started writing it before Rebecca's name was revealed.

cherin lots of colds doing the rounds at the moment. Nice warm bed and a virtual CJ to keep you company! Hope you feel better in the morning.

Just watching episode 4 again and know I quite like Major Morley. I like the way he says to Molly "Nothing's going to happen to you" and then gives a tiny smile. He's not a patch on CJ though and I have only just realised what it is that puts me off. How shallow is this - it's that his tunic top is just baggy. There's no belt, low slung or otherwise, to complete the uniform.

icemist · 30/11/2014 22:16

Did you see the one set in 1917 (I think) was awful to read. One reviewer was quite straight with him

I can upload ours tomorrow evening or does anyone else want to do it?

Ilovelblue · 30/11/2014 22:18

icemist we have appointed you as IT Director. Go and be brilliant please!

apsara03 · 30/11/2014 22:21

monopod - major series -perfect Smile.
so, it's you, richtea, maybe galaxy99 (most of the events are March onwards which gives us 4 months n the blurb says "normal fitness"). It's about team work not getting the fastest time.
Anyone else up for it?
Then we can work our best location. I'd be up for meeting up to train. Reckon DH is just relieved OG wasn't on a year ago or I'd have signed up for the navy reserves (sadly too old now as well as being on cusp of eye sight requirements).
Great intro Ilove -feeling very proud to post alongside you.

icemist · 30/11/2014 22:24

Ok. Will do it tomorrow evening. It's very exciting Grin

Yay thanks icemist, proud to be one of the authors of the CJ Collective! Great blurbs from Ilovelblue and SPO; wonder how the zombie AU will fare in the teeth of the reviewers (if they don't laugh, more fool them Grin)

ooh apsara I hope we find out that we all live reasonably close to one another; might be a bit tough to manage training logistics if not! We'd have to check in remotely via FaceTime or something otherwise...

orphan · 30/11/2014 22:29

Just read the new klipdoctor and loved it. Much prefer his 3rd person narratives to the diary. Thanks smurfing for the heads up; I'm rubbish at keeping track of what's new.

So excited about 'our' (sorry, do you mind if I think of myself as a short of sleeping partner?!) fanfic going up. There should be a standing ovation emoticon which I could award you with! But I'll make do with thisFlowers

Ilovelblue · 30/11/2014 22:32

Since nobody knows who we are, we could maybe review our own stuff! Hahaha.

Re the fanfic link I posted, there are some phrases on there we used and I wonder if it's coincidence or whether the author has been on our thread, lurking if not actually breaking cover.

firegirl · 30/11/2014 22:43

Both of the fanfic intros are really good. You really are a talented bunch. I can't come up with even one caption for the picture although have had a pretty full on weekend and brain is functioning on minimal setting.
Major Morley - there are worse people to be holed up with I guess - not a patch on CJ obviously. I did quite like Matthew McNulty, the corporal in the pilot, it would have been nice to have seen a bit of him in the series. I liked him in Jamaica Inn too. But I'm not being unfaithful, CJ still holds top position in my heart!

SPOfficer · 30/11/2014 22:43

ilove very happy with your intro!

icemist sorry, will you do the zombie one as well? Only alteration required to the intro is the bit about it being the property of TG/BBC I think, although we may also just want to add there is more to come (part way through chapter 4 at the moment!). Thanks!

icemist · 01/12/2014 06:10

Yep, I'll do it SPO

Lovely photos, I love the hands grabbing hold of vest shots! I tried to have an early night last night but ended up watching Ep2 in bed. I haven't watched it for so long and just loved the duet scene... Slept like a baby afterwards!

So proud of CJ Collective FanFic. Even though I didn't contribute, it is like our baby. Such clever talented group.

Major Morley really doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

Bath at Christmas.... I bet that big scary staircase is dressed in fresh pine and tasteful decorations. I can just dream!

cherin · 01/12/2014 07:43

I still hope (faintly) the BBC will grant us a Xmas wish and give us at least a clip of our heroes SNOGGING properly under the tree in that magical house...;-)

orphan · 01/12/2014 07:54

Morning! Lovely photos icemist. Great legs akimbo shot with distinct Operation Bulge.

Wish I had a CJ advent calendar though : imagine the excitement of opening the windows... And what would be behind the last double window??Shock

SPOfficer · 01/12/2014 08:03

Cheers icemist

Now OG Office of Statistics digest for week 6. I only have the number of posts so far. Individual stats to follow later this week!

Total no of posts since all threads began 4591.

Total posts since end of the series is 4279 that's an average of 713 per week.

Total posts last week 691. That's more than the week before (688) and the first increase in the weekly total since week three. That has the effect of reversing the classic bell curve distribution (which I am renaming the bell end distribution in honour of you lot) we were seeing in the weekly total graph (which will follow presently)

Profile for last week showed a very strong Monday to Friday but then a slow weekend which I am putting down to the Christmas shopping effect.

Now you have had your stat fix for the day I am off to put Christmas decorations up whilst the boys are at school. Catch you later.

pixieg1rl · 01/12/2014 08:36

Ladies (and gent), we all hold a special place in our hearts for those came first. Those who have been with us on this journey the longest. And so I hope you will indulge me here.
The first for me was Harrison Ford (well, Han Solo). Yesterday, I was flicking through pintrest and came across this photo. So deranged taken with it, I have even come up with a lovely fantasy back story to fit. The lovely Mr Ford has just done my washing up (exhibit a one full plate rack), and is now fixing me a G&T (exhibit b & c, he's been slicing lemons and is holding a glass).

We're very busy people, and these fantasy figures have to pull their weight. So, our challenge for today is to come up with a domestic chore you would would like your fantasy figure to carry out for you. Would you like Brad Pitt to do your ironing, Jonny Depp to do the hoovering, Gillian Anderson to tidy away the kids toys?

cherin · 01/12/2014 09:20

Johnny Depp is VERY good at doing the ironing, have you seen him in Benny&Joon? (Decades ago- he was ironing a toast, btw. Hilarious)
But there's a recurring theme of sexiness in man-and-ironing board, I would not know which one to choose...Depp or Kostner in Bull Durham!

Ok ok, I think I know. He's (was) far too short for me, but my vote goes to Paul Newman making the beds. And I have a picture to prove why you should all consider employing him (virtually) as a domestic helper....
(He's holding a pillow)

cherin · 01/12/2014 09:25

Oh, btw again, this is for pixie. A former colleague of mine has a more than striking resemblance to Ford in the picture you just posted. If anything, he's even more good looking. If I didn't have a tiny bit of conscience left, I'd nick one of his pictures on FB and post here to show you. (Unfortunately, he's also a bit silly in RL and most likely gay. That goes to prove that virtual crushes are actually much healthier than RL crushes!!)
(Not that I ever had a crush in him. But he was more than easy on the eye, and that's alway a pleasant thing in our grey and often overcast winter days!!)
