... well, depending upon how much we talk!

Carrying on from thread one.

OP posts:
OnlyLovers · 28/10/2014 17:27

Doesn't necessarily mean there's nothing going on! If gossip is to be believed, there are Strictly flings every year and some involve break-ups of existing relationships.

Having said that, I don't really get a vibe from Trent or Pixie. They're a bit saccharine and sexless IMO and Trent's a mighty weird-looking cove.

Mrsjayy · 28/10/2014 17:29

Trent has a wifeShock I really thought he was gay

digerd · 28/10/2014 17:29

Wasn't Pixie Lott in a singing contest a few years ago? I have a video memory of her ( or someone like her) singing and swinging on a garland adorned swing. She did not reach the final but was popular and very sweet/cute.
Had an unusual voice.

OnlyLovers · 28/10/2014 17:36

Mrsjayy, again, doesn't necessarily mean anything! Wink

Tanaqui · 28/10/2014 19:36

I think that might have been diana vickers on a swing?

Saker · 28/10/2014 22:39

Sorry I lurk quite often but only get round to popping up occasionally, I hope no-one minds.

I actually think Scott might be verging on the dyspraxic. Bits I've seen of the training videos, he seems to have trouble to copy even simple movements. At least that seems to have finally dawned on Joanne and she made the choreography for the Charleston really simple - half of it sitting on the floor, even doing stuff the music said, like stamp your feet. It was, as Craig said, suitable for a 3 year old. But I do feel sorry for him because he is really struggling and I do think he feels the comments.

Saker · 28/10/2014 22:44

Good dances to watch IMO, are Matt and Flavia's salsa, Jason and Kristina's tango, Erin and Colin's quickstep or American smooth if you can find them, Vincent and Rachel's rumba, Jason and Kristina's argentine tango, some of Alesha's dances with Matthew, cha cha maybe? (cha cha seems to be the new samba this series - it's soooo technical, such a difficult dance everyone keeps saying Smile). Ola and Chris's Charleston wasn't technically great but really enjoyable. Artem and Kara's American smooth also amazing though more like a show dance I think. Talking of show dances, Camilla and Tom's was really good.

Pandora37 · 28/10/2014 23:10

I'm disappointed Thom went. He's a complete himbo bless him but he was improving, especially on the performance aspect. He seems like a really sweet guy as well. On a completely pervy note, he looked damn hot on Saturday and I'll miss seeing that tight, peachy bum of his Sad.

I'm not surprised Simon was in the bottom 2 again, his VW was very skippy. He doesn't come across as very likeable, him and Kristina look like they're taking it a bit too seriously. I laughed my arse off when Simon said he'd always wanted to do ballroom but couldn't where he was from and Claudia butted in "where are you from?" Absolutely classic Claudia Grin. I'm sure if Simon really wanted to dance ballroom that badly he could have afforded a few lessons by now.

I thought Mark and Pixie were the best, but that may be because I was mesmerised by her hair. Mark's samba wasn't the most technical but he did a really good job with a lot of content and it was good fun. I liked Sunetra as well and Steve is just so adorable, I love him. I normally like Jake but felt underwhelmed by him this week and he didn't look very comfortable. Maybe the nerves had kicked in by going first.

I agree that Joanne is rather odd but her and Scott do make a very funny pairing. And I was pissing myself at Judy and Anton so I'm not surprised they're still in.

I've shocked myself by thinking this but I think Mark may be my favourite at the moment. Shock

FrankelandFilly · 29/10/2014 07:23

Don't forget the two must watch dances:

Jill & Darren's Jive from series 2
Mark Ramprakash & Karen's Argentine Tango

Tensmumym · 29/10/2014 09:06

Can anyone tell me who danced to the song Mamma Told Me Not to Come this series? It's driving me mad! Thanks.

Pandora37 · 29/10/2014 15:37

Craig Kelly was hilarious! He was the epitome of middle aged dad at a wedding dancing (I seem to remember the judges saying something similar). I can still remember his tango where he kept opening his mouth really wide on the staccato bits, odd but very funny.

ThursdayOfTheLivingDead · 29/10/2014 15:48

I totally agree with saker about Tom and Camillas show dance.
It was so out of the ordinary then, no sequined leotards in sight, and actually played to his strengths.

FrankelandFilly · 29/10/2014 17:39

This week's dances:

Alison and Aljaz will be performing the American Smooth to ‘Wuthering Heights’ by Kate Bush.
Caroline and Pasha will be performing the Samba to ‘Le Freak’ by Chic.
Frankie and Kevin will be performing the Tango to ‘Defying Gravity’ from the musical Wicked.
Jake and Janette will be performing the Paso Doble to ‘Black Betty’ by Ram Jam.
Judy and Anton will be performing the American Smooth to ‘Cruella De Vil’ from the movie 101 Dalmations.
Mark and Karen will be performing the Jive to ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ from the musical of the same name.
Pixie and Trent will be performing the Paso Doble to ‘Danger! High Voltage’ by Electric Six.
Scott and Joanne will be performing the Foxtrot to The Addams Family Theme.
Simon and Kristina will be performing the Paso Doble to ‘Poison’ by Alice Cooper.
Steve and Ola will be performing the Charleston to ‘Dem Bones Dem Bones’ by Kay Starr.
Sunetra and Brendan will be performing the Jive to ‘Tainted Love’ by Gloria Jones.

Prepare for the assault in your ears as the Strictly singers attempt Defying a Gravity Wink

GraveyardPlotsAndDoomedScreams · 29/10/2014 18:25

I feel Scott perhaps isn't being helped by the song choices he's had. I know he's a bit a lot hopeless, but even so.

GrouchyKiwi · 29/10/2014 18:44

I cannot imagine a tango to Defying Gravity. Their song choices are odd.

Thought Pixie was also doing a tango?

JuanPotatoTwo · 29/10/2014 18:51

I'm getting into Scd for the first time this year so watching it on BBC2 at mo. Zoe's really annoying me - she keeps talking over everyone.

I can't dance at all. I mean At All. But I would love it if they did a version of this with plain old members of the public (ie, me:)) and the pros. And I'll have Kevin or Alijaz (sp) please :)

JuanPotatoTwo · 29/10/2014 19:09

For long term watchers - who turned out to be the best sleb (who didn't have previous dance training)? I'm feeling a long session on YouTube coming up :)

FrankelandFilly · 29/10/2014 19:13

I'd say Jill Halfpenny was probably the best Sleb, though I can't remember if she had any stage school training or not. Mark Ramprakash ended up very good, though he took a while to get going IIRC.

JuanPotatoTwo · 29/10/2014 20:00

Thanks Frank, will go and search :)

OnlyLovers · 30/10/2014 15:58

I think Jill H had had training. How about Colin Jackson? He was terrific; his rumba and quickstep were sublime.

Clayhead · 30/10/2014 17:03

Colin Jackson was AMAZING, Mark Ramprakash started by being a bit self conscious but his Argentine tango and his salsa were fabulous.

digerd · 30/10/2014 18:16

Tanaqui

You are right. Now I remember! (getting on a bit now)Confused

Clayhead
Agree, I remember them both well. They were both sports/athletics men. Don't think either had been trained in any form of dance.

digerd · 30/10/2014 18:27

Jill Halfpenny definitely was trained in dance at stage school and was/is very talented.

digerd · 30/10/2014 18:51

Also, I feel that Simon has been given difficult dances. The Paso is not one for which the male celebs get high marks The spanish body shaping is very difficult to achieve and he will be judged against Jake's Paso and hope he will not be in the bottom 2 again. Sad
