Just wondering if I am alone in feeling irrationally annoyed by some of the tv programmes DS loves to watch? Dora makes me want to throw bricks at my telly, similar feelings arise whenever Boj or Everything's Rosie come on. What does it for you?

I'm with you on Dora. I absolutely HATE Dora, on a personal level. And her parents. Shitty parenting going on there, if you ask me.

But what I hate more at the moment is that the toddler actually interacts with Dora in a way she doesn't with other TV shows, what with all the sodding counting and shouting and spotting bloody Swiper, so it feels like the least bad option if I put the telly on for a while.

Fireman f'ing Sam! Conceited, interfering, know all, busy body. Grrrrrrr

dukesy68 · 22/09/2014 17:02

Did see this today.. Made me smile (as a dad of a peppa pig obsessed 3 yr old DS)

Caption was Peppa Pig Jigsaw for sale : £10 ono

Granny Murray- the whole lot on that programme.

The guy from kerwizz.

Carrie from carrie and David and her wailing.

anything on the Disney channel.

Loretta, Jason Mason and grampa.

waybulloo things.

loads!

DC loves them though (except Granny Murray and waybulloo) so cant really say anything!

PastaBow · 22/09/2014 17:19

YY to Mike. It's soooo sexist in addition to being generally shite.

Luckily the DCs have taken against Mike.

stumpweasel · 22/09/2014 17:26

I'm with Labrat on the Disney Channel's output - I hate pretty much everything, it's mindless drivel in my book.

This thread made me realise how much kids TV I really hate:
Dora the Explorer (and her brother)
Ruby and Max (I'd get Glenn Close to boil her, she's such an insufferable prig of a rabbit)
Barney the Dinosaur
Mr Tumble (and I know that's controversial, but I just loathe him)
Peppa Pig
Rainbow (kids were obsessed with the re-runs on Nick Jr, still hate it)
King Rollo
LazyTown my boys loved it but why did no-one just guess from the off that Robbie Rotten was behind each and every plot.
Mr Maker
Big Cook, Little Cook (what a pile of patronising s**t)
The Tweenies especially that whiny brat Jake (played by Justin Fletcher)
The Fimbles

Oh I could go on and on.

There is good TV for kids out there. Both DS loved Thomas the Tank Engine, Balamory though frightfully PC at times was bearable. We loved re-runs of Bagpuss, Mr Benn, The Clangers. The Koala Brothers and 64 Zoo Lane were lovely too.

dannydyerismydad · 22/09/2014 17:44

I cannot bear Mr Maker. I'd like to push his stupid maker mobile off a big cliff.

NuzzleandScratch · 22/09/2014 17:44

Agree Fatballerina, they could at least have Topsy & Tim have a tantrum occasionally! Everyone's just so reasonable! Also, they're clearly way older than the age they're playing (I know most TV children are), so it just seemed stupid when they kept talking about nursery school when they're clearly about 7! Also hate the bit "and that's when mummy said ...."

MadMaddox · 22/09/2014 17:50

Barney the fucking purple bastard dinosaur (I have a 'list' ... and he's on it, oh yeah!)
Big Cook Little Cook - seriously? Weird!
Bala-fucking-mory - I can't tell you what twitches when that shit comes on.

Weelass83 · 22/09/2014 18:10

My son is 4 - gone are the lovely old days of Curious George, Handy Manny etc.....Now it's Horrid Henry (clue is in the title - vicious little bint of a child) and The Aquabats Super show - I watch it and feel like I'm tripping on LSD. It's like.....what the actual fuck. He's gone off Power Rangers thank God, that was beyond awful. "let's pick the most annoying, young Americans, stick them in lycra and we'll film then kicking a rubber monster"
Must admit, secretly loving Ben and Holly month [wink

CuppaSarah · 22/09/2014 18:25

Mike the fucking Knight does my head in. I even have my own version of the theme song I sing in my head
'Mike the Knight he's a real fucking dick head'

Then there's Tree fucking Foo Tom. Look at the way he jumps over the bicycle, like he's some big shot. When all he does is ruin peoples days then fix them again and even though he always causes the problem they all act like he's the big man for saving them.

frankie80 · 22/09/2014 18:58

Spongebob.

I totally share squidward's irritation.

Ktay · 22/09/2014 19:15

I love Me Too, it's so bad it's good! I love how incompetent they all are at their jobs, eg taking an entire 9-hour shift to make a single coffee in the buffet car and then having to buy someone's spare kettle because he can't operate his espresso machine.

Topsy and Tim grate on me but I watch it because it was filmed locally and now they have finally let them leave the house after 30 episodes I like trying to spot familiar sights. But the cheery parents do my head in.

TheTravellingLemon · 22/09/2014 19:16

Totally agree that Fireman Sam is a smug that.

'I think that this Santa is for garden display only Norman'

Fuck you Sam, fuck you.

Fuck

rookiemater · 22/09/2014 19:17

weelass83 - it wasn't Horrid Henry I minded, it was his witless, incompetent parents. STOP favouring your younger child, try to parent your older one slightly more effectively and just being general blithering idiots.

Mind you I spent most of Home Alone 1 & 2 which we watched again at Christmas, shouting at the TV that his parents needed to be reported to Social Services for complete inability to look after a child.

I miss Peppa Pig though, I blimmin loved Peppa and poor hapless Daddy Pig.

dansmum · 22/09/2014 19:17

Relentlessly cheerful b#stard dinosaur and his smug prepubescent child attendant hell spawn. On the endless reruns of several dvd's the only thing keeping DH and I sane was inventing quietly horrible deaths or awful lives for them.
" See that one with the plaits ?" " yeah, with the annoying mustard yellow dungarees ? " " Yeah, she grew up to be a crack wh&re apparently" " What about the one in the stonewashed denim shorts" " Snuff movie " etc etc. The day the last Barney DVD left our home we actually had a party. But I am no longer in that bad place. I am calm and zen once again.

PragmaticWench · 22/09/2014 19:24

Upsy fucking Daisy makes me grit my teeth and seethe at her vapid, moronic, airy-fairy crap. She's either dancing around with her skirt up way above her knickers, or prancing around kissing everyone and everything in the garden. Behaviour I'd just love my daughter to emulate.

Notsoyummymummy1 · 22/09/2014 20:14

I actually had a nightmare about baby Jake. I shit you not.

softlysoftly · 22/09/2014 20:17

Barbie as anything

I want to melt her.

And Care Bears. What was wrong with the old care bears just wandering around being, well, caring? Why do they now have to have adventures and excitement?

They are fluffy round things with pictures on their tummies. Noone is buying the heroism bears, jack it in.

Lottielottielooloo · 22/09/2014 23:26

Make the most of peppa and crew while you can! It only gets worse! I am now plagued by almost naked animals, which has the most irritating theme tune and character voices I've ever come across! And flea bag monkey face! Like getting a boy to bath isn't challanging enough, they promote bad hygiene with a flea ridden, grease covered abomination as a role model for boys everywhere! Long gone are the topsy and tim's of the world who try to do right by others!

HoneyMum21 · 23/09/2014 19:48

Doc Mc-bloody-stuffins. She has serious issues.

Chudley84 · 23/09/2014 21:26
