Tawny needs a tougher teacher

MiddleEarthBarbie · 04/09/2014 21:31

Horrible child!

Sparklingbrook · 04/09/2014 21:31

There has been some serious editing done here I think.

ThursdayLast · 04/09/2014 21:33

Gawd this guy is so far out if his depth

ClashCityRocker · 04/09/2014 21:33

I suspect that too.

Felt sorry for Acacia.

I also feel that, after the success of educating yorkshire, there is a lot of pressure to find 'characters'.

I left the room for a minute there- what did he do, Nerf?

ThursdayLast · 04/09/2014 21:34

Oh yes sparkling, C4 editors are in a league if their own I reckon

Nerf · 04/09/2014 21:35

Just the general rubbishness, nothing outrageous. Can't stand all that making children look at you, making them like apologising, shaking hands, trying to be liked stuff. Way too much like a former English teacher we had.

Sparklingbrook · 04/09/2014 21:36

I think you could pick any High School any day of the week and find some 'characters'. Filming them and them knowing they will play up to the cameras-how is that a good idea? I guess they will have seen the other 'Educating..... series.

But for me what stands out is Mr B and his appalling teaching manner.

Uncomfortable viewing really.

girliefriend · 04/09/2014 21:36

Felt really sorry for Acacia Sad think the school did as well, but would they have not known about her poorly mum and being cared for by an Aunt?

Think the teacher is out of his depth and Tawny is just exploiting that.

ClashCityRocker · 04/09/2014 21:36

I'm fairly confident if someone went to any secondary school and filmed the 'worst' bits it would paint a grim picture.

It doesn't seem to be very well balanced thus far.

Nerf · 04/09/2014 21:36

I suspect Tawny may see it as good exposure.

Lilka · 04/09/2014 21:37

Don't doubt for a second they edit for a particular angle, and cherry pick the children for maximum effect (though to me Tawny's behaviour isn't terrible. I've seen a lot worse). I enjoy it nevertheless, for the children they do focus on.

Feel sorry for the male teacher, really not an easy job

MrsDV how much notice did you get of filming? And choice over taking part?

I bet C4 couldn't believe their luck with the Brit School story.

TheFirstOfHerName · 04/09/2014 21:37

I wonder if Acacia's mum has Crohn's?

FuzzyWizard · 04/09/2014 21:38

I disagree with those saying sack him. I had classes like that as an NQT... Since finishing my NQT year all of my lesson observations have been outstanding and my mixed ability y11 class last year (in a comp) got over 60% A-A* everyone has to start somewhere. He seems enthusiastic, he's clearly planning well etc but those year 9s can just smell the fear. I have a hunch he'll be excellent with some support and time.

HighwayDragon · 04/09/2014 21:38

Aww she didn't get in

BOFster · 04/09/2014 21:39

Really? I think that part of teaching is turning out kids who know how to behave appropriately (ie not being rude to adults). It won't help her achieve her dreams if she can't rein herself in when it's needed. It's a shame she doesn't understand this yet- she will be up against kids who do.

Nerf · 04/09/2014 21:40

I think to be fair the eye contact thing is a private bugbear. Ds has aspergers and more and school has not been easy.

ClashCityRocker · 04/09/2014 21:40

Oh yeah, we used to chew up and spit out NQTs and supplies at that age.

I keep reminding myself of that when I see teenagers nowadays. I'm sure I was equally awful.

BOFster · 04/09/2014 21:40

It's a real shame she missed out; I hope she doesn't get discouraged and disengage even more.

Sparklingbrook · 04/09/2014 21:41

Options night. I have never been so confused in my life.

HighwayDragon · 04/09/2014 21:41

She has such a good mum, my heart breaks for her

Nerf · 04/09/2014 21:42

Acacia is so pretty.
