Here. At one point Quinn appears to be either hugging or killing Salieri - apart from that it tells you very little. But still - Homeland!!!

I reckon (based on nothing except slowly building hype and last year's timings) that we're looking at late September/early October. Can we cope in a world without Brody?

Cats - you're right; any journo would know she's bipolar. Maybe Ambassador-husband is too thick to realise.

I increasingly like the CIA chap who was/is second in command - is he called John? I liked "I'm a spy - I know shit". I think he'll turn out to be a good guy and indispensable in some way, and we'll realise Carrie should have trusted him from the off.

Oh is she ISA? That makes way more sense. I was confused - for some reason I thought she was the woman who originally interviewed Pi when the video was released.

Can you believe that considering he is supposed to be a spy, Saul was very stupid to follow them all into the toilets?

ThisIsntFunnyDean · 09/11/2014 22:14

I thought Saul saw the two men leave and went to check if they'd killed the other guy? But it was a trap and the two men doubled back?

Catsarebastards · 09/11/2014 22:14

Me too! That line was brilliant! Grin i agree i think he will turn out to be
really useful/helpful in this season.

Is it ISA or ISI? Either way yes thats what she is. Are ISI/A the pakistani version of CIA?

RudeBarbandCustard · 09/11/2014 22:17

I was shouting at the TV - Carrie is Station Chief, she would NOT be going undercover to recruit an asset, going awol for over 24 hours. It's just stupid.

So glad Quinn called her out on it. All I could think of when she left the house to talk to him was that she must stink of sex !!! Shock

And now, because she was busy shagging Pi, they've got no chance of finding Saul... aaargh.

Catsarebastards · 09/11/2014 22:19

Yes thisis that is what happened. They played him.

I'm guessing that guy was never going to johannesburg. I think the ISI woman called him when she hears Saul was booked onto a flight for london and planned to make sure Saul saw him there knowing he would call carrie to let her know then once the call was made, lure him to the toilets to kidnap him. Carrie and co think Saul is away to london and other man is away to johannesburg. No suspicion aroused.

TheSpottedZebra · 09/11/2014 22:19

Pakistan being what it is, (IRL), there is more than 1 intelligence agency... But yes, for Homeland, ISI are the equivalent of the CIA.

Catsarebastards · 09/11/2014 22:22

And how stupid is blonde haired carrie coming in and out of a safe house in broad daylight with no headscarf! She would have been spotted and kidnapped in no time IRL. Her face is known.

RudeBarbandCustard · 09/11/2014 22:26

And how stupid is blonde haired carrie coming in and out of a safe house in broad daylight with no headscarf

AND NO BRA!! Put a bloody bra on woman, the whole of Islamabad Cape Town doesn't want to see your nips!

guineapiglet · 09/11/2014 22:28

Is Carrie genuinely falling for Aayan? There seems to be something of Brody about him...or were the tears because she knows she's going to hurt him... I agree there is no way she could go AWOL like that and not respond to Sauls phone calls...The might Quinn was mighty pissed off with her though...Shock

Catsarebastards · 09/11/2014 22:28
Grin
TheSpottedZebra · 09/11/2014 22:29

Bless me MN Homelanders, for I have sinned.

I just read the recap for next week's epidose (as it's already aired in the US) and I must therefore take my leave from this thread, until next week's episode has been on, as I am rubbish with secrets.

This is not adieu, it is au revoir.
Feel free to set me a fitting penance.

In shame, Zebra

Roonerspism · 09/11/2014 22:29

Ooh I enjoyed tonight's episode. Saul kidnapped by Taliban?!

Although what's the Pakistsn Secret Service doing liaising with Taliban leaders? Or is he double bluffing?

Carrie's treatment of Pi is doing my head in though. Totally unrealistic.

Catsarebastards · 09/11/2014 22:32

Yes i think the tears were because she knows how awful she is being but also i thought because the last man she was with was Brody just before he was killed. I dont think she is falling for Aayan at all.

RudeBarbandCustard · 09/11/2014 22:33

You can stay Zebra if you promise not to tell.

I mean really promise not to tell, not Carrie 'I promise not to tell the CIA.. I AM the CIA'

I don't think she's genuinely falling for him, that would be absurd since she's already done that once. I think the tears were guilt, shame and memories of Brody coming back. I very much doubt they were tears that she was going to hurt him, she doesn't care who she hurts.

I'm hoping that the fact that Ambassador's husband left the photo of Carrie and baby Brody out of place will alert Carrie to the fact that there has been an intruder. Or am I just picking at details that will get passed by. I'd make a far better spy than Carrie. I'd never go AWOL to shag an asset.. I'd be too busy trying to shag Quinn instead

Lweji · 09/11/2014 22:33

Whether they will find him depends on where Saul is going.
And if he is good or bad (I have no idea).

And there is much speculation as to which side Pakistan really is on (RL). They seem to be sort of playing both sides and the series seems to address that.

NeedaDiscoNap · 09/11/2014 22:33

OH MY GOD THEY HAVE SAUL!

That is all. I fear I will not be able to sleep now. steps away from google for fear of meeting the same fate as zebra

I agree with the ridiculousness of Carrie. As if the station chief would just swan off for two days and be totally uncontactable.

I am really, really loving this series though - except for Carrie's nonsense with Pi, which makes me want to vomit.

Catsarebastards · 09/11/2014 22:34

Is who double bluffing?

ThisIsntFunnyDean · 09/11/2014 22:37

I'm watching in Ireland so it's on Tuesdays here! Love reading this thread but can't post much as I'm generally an episode ahead!

Cocolepew · 09/11/2014 22:37

Oh Zebra, really you should know better .
I liked this episode. The Americans are really under estimating the Pakistanis, Taliban and ISI.

I was worried for Saul.
I might be thawing on my Saul is a Baddie theory Hmm.

Catsarebastards · 09/11/2014 22:38

Clearly homeland have decided pakistan is in cahoots with the taliban otherwise why would the policeman at the checkpoint have completely ignored the westerner in the boot of a known, supposedly dead, taliban member's car?

Lweji · 09/11/2014 22:38

Cats, a head scarf is not mandatory in Islamabad. She was still stupid to come out virtually in her bed clothes.

Cocolepew · 09/11/2014 22:39

I think the tears were for Brody.

TheSpottedZebra · 09/11/2014 22:39

I can't not tell, I am like a toddler.
Eg if someone were to post 'oh, that's a nice scarf that Carrie is wearing', I'd literally not be able to stop myself from posting NO, WATCH THE HAT. THE HAT! THE HAT MIGHT BE KEY TO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT...*

  • NB hats and scarves are obviously just an illustrative example. I read nothing about them. Probably.
