in the coaches box...Grin

So Federer V Djokovic, 2014.

Gutted it isn't Nadal, or Grigor. Glad it isn't Murray, we might get more balanced commentary. Grin

I think Federer may have it- and will be able to play a better game than against the big serving Raonic.

But Djok is hurting from the number of GS losses
He has only played Fed on grass once. At Wimbledon. He lost.
If the roof goes on, Fed is better indoors too.

I want a 5 set thriller, because I don't care who wins really. I am refusing to move form the sofa. My children will go to school Monday wearing pyjamas, and with a bag of crisps for lunch.

I am sticking with Virgin Pimms (a.k.a Peppermint tea)BrewWine

Yes, short and sweet.

Well so long ladies, it's always fun, but my battery is on 3%

(Sadly, I haven't got sky so the US is a pain)

And Rafa will be back!

Raahh · 06/07/2014 19:49

So, it's Kvitova and Djok again at the Champion's dinner- 3 years later. That's nice.

OP posts:
Raahh · 06/07/2014 19:51

Rafa will indeed be back.

He's got a tough couple of months and a lot to defend- but WE BELIEVE ! Grin

Yes, Novak- all the ones without the tickets are the real tennis fans.

BillnTedsMostFeministAdventure · 06/07/2014 20:03

Raah, I quite fancy Novak, but you are right re Mr Spock!

Raahh · 06/07/2014 20:04

Our discussions are extremely important that's why!

Wonderful tournament. I'll be back

Raahh · 06/07/2014 20:05

And we are ending on a terrible easy listening version of 'Eye of the Tiger' Hmm

Awful, version of a real favourite, but now I must return to RL.

  1. It's all over for another year.
  1. Federer didn't win.

I was with you all, all the way, but 'puter is upstairs & TV is downstairs....

Thank heavens I am off to see DS & DIL in a couple of days so have lots to do before we go as have sat on my lardy arse for 2 weeks!

Tennis
noddyholder · 06/07/2014 20:35

So gutted fed didn't win. I absolutely love his game and think he was way more entertaining but in the end djikovic just too good

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/07/2014 21:38

Just realised I have no clean work uniform for tomorrow. Should have done more laundry rather than sat watching the tennis. I'm going to have to do it now and hope they dry

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/07/2014 22:16

There's a thread about Federer's 2 sets of twins in chat. Some people obviously haven't spent 2 weeks listening to AC Grin

Raahh · 06/07/2014 22:17

Rafa - i was tempted to post

'Is that you, Andrew?' but no-one would have got the jokeSadGrin

OP posts:
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 06/07/2014 22:24

I looked at the thread title and my first thought was that someone was taking the piss out of AC's commentary. Then I opened it and remembered there are people who haven't spent the last 2 weeks watching Wimbledon.

Raahh · 06/07/2014 22:32

It's shocking isn't it- that there are people who didn't know Mirka was pg? Or that Rog could have missed the French Open.?Grin

It is all ever so serious about twins and stuff. No-one has even mentioned the fact they are called

Leo and Lenny.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/07/2014 22:41

If our baby is a boy he'll be called Leo (or Alexander, if DH gets his way, which he won't).

Er.

This Wimbledon thing was fun. Thanks for making it so. Grin

Raahh · 06/07/2014 22:53

Leo is a great name on it's own, but most Lenny is often a short form of Leonard. So it's like they have got the same name, iyswim

It has been a good tournament- lots of surprises.

Maybe in Swiss it's short for something else?

DramaAlpaca · 06/07/2014 23:08

What an amazing match that was today.

I've loved following Wimbledon with you guys this year. It's been great fun.

See you all soon Smile

Raahh · 06/07/2014 23:16

Well, Stan is playing in Gstaad, and Grigor in Washington from the 21st- so I'm getting my scores refreshing finger limbered upGrin

Provencalroseparadox · 07/07/2014 05:32

Thanks for the memories ladies. It's been a blast.

Cantdothisagain · 07/07/2014 07:58

Sad it's over but was a great Men's final ( unlike Saturday) and though I did really want Federer to win, Djok deserved his victory. And the speeches were lovely.

Till the next time all!

LaVolcan · 07/07/2014 08:47

Not all Ladies finals are as rubbish as that one was.

All this talk of 'Changing of the guard' nonsense: 2 champions and 1 runner up were all previous winners.

And then 'up and coming young players giving them a run for their money: hardly - Nadal was literally just turned 20 when he won his first Grand Slam, Federer 21, Sharapova 17, Kitova 3 years ago, 21.

Compare this with this year's results: Dimitrov 23 - best result so far in GS - Semi-final, Roanic 23 Semi-final, Halep 22, Final this year and SF, Bouchard 20 - OK a bit better, 2 SF and a final this year (but I think she was lucky, I am not sure she would have got through if Halep hadn't twisted her ankle in the 2nd set.)
