I agree, MrsV. Although I was impressed with how well Dimitrov played yesterday.

Raahh · 24/06/2014 10:10

MrsV- I am very nervous re-Rafa. It's almost as though, where we usually expect the big guns to ease through the first few rounds, we now have come to expect Rafa will fail. He really does have the toughest draw (though no doubt some random Murray fan will disagree). Last year was just horrible.

I feel, watching him, the way i used to feel watching Stefan, towards the end.He was a sublime player- but there was never the feeling he would automatically win, the way Sampras would at Wimbledon, for example. he was always vulnerable-serve/volleyers always are. I have never cried over a tennis match, the way I cried over Edberg's final loss in 1989Blush.

Rafa knows he can play on grass- you don't get to 5 finals and win it twice without doing something right. And the 2008 final will always be one of the absolute matches of all time.

I believe!!

(I hope he isn't wearing limon coloured pants.)Grin

magi-

Mick Jagger????!Shock oh dear.

I'm assuming you mean a young version, and not the seedy, wrinkly bloke he is now? Grin

I have tried in vain to find naked pics of Nadal. Lots of pictures of him fishing . Grin My internet history is now bluer than the sky. Grin.

I agree, Grigor played well. I would like to see him do well, I am quite taken with him. Blush

I don't worry about 'tough' draws, I have faith. I believe that it is wrong that it always seems to be 'arranged' so that the top 2 meet in the Final - why not have the No.1 v No.2 in an earlier round ? That would shake things up a bit !

No risk of Rafa wearing limon, ice/baby blue seems to be the colour of choice for Rafa this year, a la RG. Although, I did hear yesterday that the AELTC had confirmed that players are not even allowed to wear coloured head bands or wrist bands this year. White only, in keeping with Wimby tradition. Rafa wears white, so I expect his head/wrist bands will have a blue Nike tick on !

I BELIEVE

Have faith, Raahh !

I'll try to be around for the match, we can agonise together, then VAMOS loudly and madly when he wins !

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 10:26

I love the pics of Rafa shirtless.

Its such a shame about his face. Blush

Then he speaks and I forget he looks like a capybara. Grin

Merrylegs · 24/06/2014 10:31

Hello Wimblies. I was there yesterday but am enjoying it from home today. Saw lots of lovely tennis players . Glad I saw most of Verdasco's match before we had to wave him goodbye. He is rather special close up....

Had fab seats on Centre Court so saw Muzzer and Jokeyvich cruise through (although Muzzer looked a bit frustrated at times).

Also Fognini match was v entertaining as was Brown/Bagh.

Lovely busy day. Even managed to fit in afternoon tea.

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 10:37

Oooh, Merrylegs.

Very Envy.

We must make plans, lovelies.

Start planning tents and picnics etc...Smile

Everard · 24/06/2014 10:41

Hi can I join in here?

Massive tennis fan, though not a fan of Rafa which I see is heresy here. Grin

As a true Brit, I support Andy, though would not be interested in seeing him nekkid! Shock I don't think he will win this year though. I have a feeling this is Djokovic's year which is ok by me (if it can't be Andy).

Is there room here for someone who supports Djokovic over Nadal?!

Either way, I have a busy day today so will probably not catch much tennis but I watched several hours of it yesterday and plan to watch as much as I can in the next fortnight and would like to be able to discuss it with people.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/06/2014 10:45

It is quite possible that we might not get any showers today, they look like they will probably be fairly isolated - hooray!

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:01

Yay, indeed, OYBBK !

Welcome, Everard.

We are just tennis nuts, really. The Rafa thing is an mn myth. Grin

Just don't expect lots of support for Novak, especially they play one another !

I'd like to think we are grown up enough to natter about all players and matches in a respectful manner, and we do, for the most part. Wink

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:02

especially if*...

Alopogies !

JuanPotatoTwo · 24/06/2014 11:04

Morning all. Thanks for the nice words about dd. I am like this > Grin.

Love the idea of meeting up but what about making it at Queens rather than Wimbledon? Seems easier to get in and you can really get up close and personal at the practice courts? I can post some of my pics again as proof of how close if required? :)

I think Rafa will be fine, fingers crossed. Did you read about Ernie and the vampires/umpires misunderstanding?! I see Djok faces Radek now which is such a shame. I really like Radek, he seems lovely but I don't fancy his chances against Djok at all. Although, he did put Andy out of Queens so never say never.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/06/2014 11:12

There's room for everyone, Everard. There are a few Djok supporters on here but not nearly enough Fed supporters. Pretty much anything goes as long as you don't start needlessly slagging off other posters favourites.

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:13

I have photographic evidence of getting VERY close to players at Wimby, somewhere...

Lovely smiley snap of Rafa, and others.

Saw a bloke yesterday get a selfie with Novak after his match !

For me, it would have to be Wimby. Sorry. Blush

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:16

Oi, Rafa !

I support Roger. In awe really. He's amazing.

But when he goes out in early/ish rounds I feel so sorry for him these days.

I hope he becomes a commentator when he retires. I would hate him to be just gone. Sad

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/06/2014 11:18

I think I have as well MrsV, although it was the Williams sisters rather than Rafa. I think it would be Wimby for me as well, but would be happy with Queens too.

The long lingering overhead hots of Wimbledon on the BBC coverage did make me miss it a bit yesterday.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/06/2014 11:19

I think that's you, me and Irene then, MrsV.

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:22

Excellent ! Raahh will come too, l know she will.

I kept thinking yesterday how much nicer it is to watch Wimby than RG. Some of their coverage is so frustrating !

JuanPotatoTwo · 24/06/2014 11:25

No no, I'll come to Wimbledon too. Just thought it might be easier to get into Queens. Everard, hi. Think, between us all, we like loads of players - we don’t want to leave any of those poor men out now do we?! Hooray for no showers.

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:25

I have the red button on already ! Its repeating itself but that's by the by !

If you re-tune your tvs you should get 4 extra channels (red buttons) so you can watch matches other than what bbc1 or 2 are showing. So nice to have a choice sometimes !

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:30

Oooh, Juan a Wimby party ! Brilliant !

I vote we aim to go men's semi finals day !

I am so excited at the prospect of actually going, I don't mind when really !

TV now on bbc 2.

Day 2 here we go !

( Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa, Rafa)

Oh, and gooooo Heather !

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:38

I think Roger will get through fine.

Would love to see Serena go out.

Aww, bless Lleyton.

I don't mind if we go to Wimby and only sit on the hill.

I have a tendency to get very excited and I would probably pee you all off with my whoops and cheering !

Got very carried away at 1D - but my DD thinks she has a very cool Mum cos I danced, screamed and whistled along with her !

I would imagine at Wimby I would have to restrain myself, no ?!

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:42

SIOB !

I really want Rafa to win !

Hes just such a lovely bloke.

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:43

< will just keep wittering away on my own >

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 11:44

I concur, Mr. Henman.

I am beside myself !
