MrsV - disagreeing with me about how Djok played does not offend at all - I like having tennis discussions with other keen fans. I'm not a big Djok fan but still think he played very, very well even though his opponent was like a rabbit in the headlights!

I'd love to see someone new win - Grigor??

Would also love to meet you all, but don't see how we can all get tickets for the same day. Isn't it either luck of the draw (literally) or camping out the night before? Mind you, if we had a big tent we could have a great time the night before!!

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 12:05

That's what I had in mind,magi !

Glad I didn't offend...in the past a couple of threads got very nasty very quickly, I have a long memory !

Ooh, Stan is on. Are we expecting great things from him ?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/06/2014 12:06

I think ground passes for some days are easier than for others. Might not necessarily mean camping out the night before.

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 12:07

Don't think Grigor is quite there for the big win yet. I shall perhaps have to revise my opinion next week, lets see who is there for week 2 !

magimedi · 24/06/2014 12:09

So glad we agree!

I don't think that Stan will do that well - he's never gone that far at Wimby, has he?

I've pulled a calf muscle (not too bad) & just had a session of physio. Physio says that I must rest my leg - perfect excuse to sit in front of the box for the next 2 weeks!

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 12:11

Don't know if this helps...I always register for Wimby ticket ballot in December.

The other day, for the first time, I had an email inviting me to get tickets via Ticketmaster. Never seen that before ?

I stand to be corrected, maybe ticket sales haven't been as good as expected ?

Just wondered if that may be a way to ensure we all get in ?

Or, I am up for camping and getting in !

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 12:12

Oooh, Lleyton has the first set, 6-2 !

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 12:15

Oh, perfect magi.

I have no scruples. In the Vamos house everyone knows the tv is MINE from May to July !

Do you think Stans win at Aussie was a fluke, then ?

Raahh · 24/06/2014 12:34

Smile @ MrsV wittering to herself. Makes a change form it being me.

I love Stan. But although he played some amazing tennis at the Aussie, he hasn't played that well, either before it or since really. And he did benefit at the Aussie from 2 matches where opponents retired/didn't play- so although I wouldn't say his win was a fluke, I don't know if he would have beaten a fully fit Rafa. Though I could be wrong. He certainly didn't trouble RG, and went out in the first round at Wimby last year. He looks set to do better than that here though.

If Rafa doesn't win the tournament (though I BELIEVE he willGrin), then it's Djok's year.

Stan has ironed his shirtGrin

Talking of physio, I have a steroid injection tomorrow. Can't come soon enough. Then, hopefully, I can have some heavy duty physio on it, and get it back to normal. After nearly a year, it's getting annoying.

And WELCOME to all the new tennis posters. We all have our favourite players, affectionately (usuallyGrin) disparage others, but in the main rub along nicely apart from Juan and magi, and their Potato-love .

Personally, I support players, and am not swayed by nationality and patriotism. IYSWIM. in other words, no, I'm not a Murray fan.

Ahh, yes, Soderling. Such a shame. I always wonder just how good he could have been. He was certainly up there- and the only one to beat Rafa at RG.

Raahh · 24/06/2014 12:50

And the all white thing-(I'll shut up in a minute)Grin - not so much the men, but the women- am glad that we will be spared that godawful floral number that Azarenka(?) wore to RG- it was awful. And hopefully, Serena and Venus will be penalised for flaunting the rules by wearing fluorescent underwear and headbandsGrin

Oh lovely touch to honour Bally. Such a loss. And I am glad that she is being honoured so much throughout the tournaments. Wine for Bally.

The clips about Elena are making me cry. So soon after wedding.

OP posts:
Raahh · 24/06/2014 12:57

her poor husband. Sad

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 12:57

Soderling doesn't count, same as Stan winning at Aussie. Neither of them would have beaten a FIT Rafa.

Biased, much ?!

I guess time will tell if Stans win was a fluke. I don't think he is strong enough against the big guns.

Stan is playing really well.

I don't think Novak is going to win. He always starts well, but like RG, I just don't think he 'looks' right. There is something going on there.
Just can't quite put my finger on it.

Hope injection works for you, Raahh.

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 12:58

Bally, RIP.

Feel so much for Nino, he looks so broken without her.

Raahh · 24/06/2014 12:58

Sue Barker, however, is wearing an awful blouseGrin

I love Marion- and she did exactly the right thing retiring, as she knew she would never top her win.

I can't say what I want to about Serena, its too rude. Blush

I like white only. Its tradition. Which is good.

Keep wittering, lovely ! Makes me feel less mad !

Raahh · 24/06/2014 13:02

Bless the little Ellie.! What a moment.

Nino looks really lonely in the crowd. You just want to give him a hug.

OP posts:
MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 13:04

Agree re Bartoli.

Sue looks awful this year. Bit plasticky.

Maybe its the light. Grin

MrsVamos · 24/06/2014 13:05

Exactly, mate. ((((hugs)))) for Nino.

Aww, little Ellie !

Raahh · 24/06/2014 13:06

Well, I've been feeling a bit hormonal, so that has given me a good excuse for a sob.

here we go, with whingy Melzer. Is it light enough for him, now? Grin
