Anyone watching? I think it's good so far!

Ah!

Shows how much attention I was paying!

limitedperiodonly · 08/05/2014 15:21

The William Tell game was stupid. If you were sure the other bloke was a worse shot than you, why would risk him shooting you in the head?

Why was Dr Molesley faffing around the one-eyed sharpshooter? He outranked him.

And why is everyone desperate to conceal medical conditions that would get them honourably shipped off home to safety?

YY to the poster who compared it to Tenko. There was more action in It Ain't Half Hot Mum.

Gen35 · 09/05/2014 14:20

I know, the only reason I'm still watching is the Scottish doctor/kitty - agree the German officer storyline and her getting so quickly caught is really naff. The writing's just not quite up to it...the evil matron's too obvious as well. It might get better though.

Forgot to thank you diddl for the Testament link. I've never seen it.

It'll take time to get round to. I've loads of things on planner to watch and I like the look of Mr Sloane on Sky and there's something else starting soon.

And I recently found on YouTube Mother Love and a black comedy called In The Red about a serial killer who preys on bankers. I've seen them both but I can't remember what happens.

diddl · 09/05/2014 15:47

Hope you enjoy it when you get around to it.

SirChenjin · 09/05/2014 15:51

I love it. It's Sunday night escapism, pure and simple. Final episode tonight Sad

NigellasGuest · 09/05/2014 16:06

thank you didl I have now watched the whole of TOY. I have also discovered that they are remaking TOY next year..

Ellenora5 · 11/05/2014 23:03

Well that's that everyone, I won't be watching a second series if they make one, it was very disappointing

GypsyFloss · 12/05/2014 07:31

I just felt that over the last 2 episodes they were trying to shoehorn in too many stories. I'm not sure I'd bother with a second series either to be honest.

HarlotOTara · 12/05/2014 08:19

Thanks for finding testament of youth. Loved it when I was young and have read the book several times. I was looking forward to Crimson Fields but it is just another soap really. Sad because there must be so many interesting stories that have come out of WWi. There is an interesting book called 'Roses of No Mans La d' about nurses in WWI if anyone is interested - I bet there would have been loads in that that could have been dramatised.

limitedperiodonly · 12/05/2014 12:51

It was tosh. Why do I watch these things?

SirChenjin · 12/05/2014 13:16

It was lovely Sunday night tosh though Grin. I think they'd tried to cram in too much - if more than one series had been commissioned they would have been able to develop the plotlines and characters.

Gen35 · 12/05/2014 13:41

I thought it had good actors on the whole, the script could have been a bit less predictable. I agree, there were if anything too many plot lines that weren't fleshed out enough and the episode by episode stories weren't that gripping. I'm sure I'd watch the next series though, there isn't that much fabulous drama to watch.

limitedperiodonly · 12/05/2014 14:08

Yes, definitely enjoyable Sunday night tosh. Not as enjoyable as Downton though. Or Mr Selfridge, which is such compelling shit. It's like crack.

Girl Crush Alert: I like Oona Chaplin because I love her face, especially her soft eyes. I know she was the weakest actor on The Hour but I loved looking at her.

I've seen her interviewed on the telly and she seemed quite fun. Not overly burdened with intellect, but I prefer her to Katherine Kelly who takes herself so seriously with such little justification that it makes me laugh.

And she gurns like Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough when trying to emote.

It's not Titus Andronicus, love. It's a crappy ITV production that's second string to Downton. And you were in Corrie.

nipersvest · 12/05/2014 16:24

it was a watchable series but kind of limped along a bit too much with it's storylines. i am another with an oona chaplin girl crush, it's those dark eyes that do it!

vjg13 · 12/05/2014 16:47

It was ok in a Sunday night telly kind of way. Will watch again though if they make a second series Grin

BackforGood · 26/05/2014 21:11

Well - I hadn't read the thread earlier as didn't want any spoilers, as I tend to watch stuff a few days later, on 'Catch Up', but am amazed that the 11th May was the last episode - nothing seems to have been finished! I tuned in last week, and came to the conclusion it wasn't on because the BAFTAs were on, but then it wasn't there yesterday either Sad. What a disappointment, I've really been enjoying this and just feel I've been left hanging now Sad

springbabydays · 29/05/2014 08:37

Glad I found this thread. I too thought I'd missed the last episode, though I couldn't work out how! Not sure this show was worth the effort though. Loved the Scottish doc though Grin

springbabydays · 29/05/2014 08:38

Ooh too many thoughs Blush
