Oh and Luisa bitching about Jim clapping afyer Ollie's speech - actually it was Dappy who started the clapping!!

TortillasAndChocolate · 24/01/2014 10:41

Clappy dappy

AnneEyhtMeyer · 24/01/2014 10:53

Luisa has out-manoeuvred BB at every turn in this series.

I agree (again) with limited. Ollie is being manipulative. It isn't bullying to take the piss out someone getting annoyed because they have been nominated, because lets face it, that is why he gave his little speech. If you can't face being nominated you deserve ridicule.

Anyway, his little dramatic performance seems to have done the trick The betting odds now suggest he is second favourite to win, behind Teflon-Jim.

I knew we couldn't all agree on things forever!

I do agree that Ollie's speech was a bit much in parts. But I can never agree with piss taking and laughing at someone behind their back like that. It did feel like bullying behaviour to me. If someone did that to me I would be really upset.

SpanishFly · 24/01/2014 11:06

Yes he may deserve ridicule for the speech but not behind his back, very loudly. That's horrible behaviour. If my kids did something embarrassing/OTT then their peers laughed and sang about them within earshot, I'mpretty sure I wouldnt think "ah well he deserved the piss taken out of him"

RedToothBrush · 24/01/2014 11:11

TBH I think Ollie, did something that we think is very odd in this country, but if he did it in the US no one would bat an eyelid. I think it speaks volumes for this country. He came out and said something confident. We take this as aggrogance and there is a real sense of anytime someone does this, people have a tendency not to say "Good for you" but to try and attack them and take them down a peg or three. There's nothing wrong with it. In fact I think there's a lot to be said for doing that. We are too used to being like Luisa and being an utter bastard or bitch about those who achieve rather than congratulate them.

Thats why I don't think its manipulative. I think its something we are not used to, something we should encourage more to improve people's self worth and confidence and something that actually shows up people who behaviour in a piss poor way.

SpanishFly · 24/01/2014 11:47

and if it was Jim behaving like that to Liz, I'm sure that the opinion would be that she didnt deserve ridicule.

Ollie was picked at for never having an opinion or saying what he thought. Then when he finally does stand up for himself, he gets the piss taken out of him, and the opinion is that he deserves that? Confused

Theonlyoneiknow · 24/01/2014 12:02

I think it would be so wrong if Jim won. He would be so smug and think that yes, he can be the way he is and it's acceptable to say/think what he does. ARGJHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGH

SpanishFly · 24/01/2014 12:26

Also, people like Luisa made me nervous about speaking out when I was younger - it was clear that if you didnt say exactly what they thought you should say, then you'd have the piss taken out of you. I'm still baffled as to why anyone thinks this is ok?

LiberalLibertine · 24/01/2014 12:29

Only just watching as fell asleep at 9.15 (lame)

Oh fuck off Lee.

LiberalLibertine · 24/01/2014 12:30

Grrrrr Jim's smug smile as Liz leaves. He CAN'T win!!

LiberalLibertine · 24/01/2014 12:34

This really isn't the same on your own!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 24/01/2014 12:36

He wasn't "saying something confident", he was saying that he doesn't argue, which is in fact an argument in itself. It is saying "I can say what I like and if you have a different opinion you are wrong and starting an argument". That is manipulating the situation and is very arrogant.

Anyway, at least we can all let out a huge sigh of relief that the argument didn't get so bad that someone had to start shouting their GCSE results.

Hahaha, that made me laugh. I can't believe I'm not watching right now but still thinking about it.

I was supposed to be going out tonight but DS isn't well bless him. The only plus side is I get to watch tonight!

ProfondoRosso · 24/01/2014 12:49

Totally agree, SpanishFly. Ollie might be manipulative, I haven't made my mind up yet, but Luisa and Linda are out and out arseholes.

I'm very conflict-averse, hate fighting and know too many people who seem to love it (they think they're debating, but they're just dragging out an argument for no good reason). Sounds wanky, but I read a lot of stuff about Buddhist meditation and beliefs and I always try to keep the peace and discourage people from being dicks to each other. Obviously it doesn't always work, and I'll stand up and say it if I think something's out of order, but I HATE people who accuse you of 'having no opinion' just because you're not bolshy and don't court drama.

LiberalLibertine · 24/01/2014 12:51

Why don't they punish luisa for rule breaking? I mean really punish...like the jail! So she gets no airtime, she does what she likes!

LiberalLibertine · 24/01/2014 13:01

Luisas a bitch. I do think Ollie is a bit of a knob, but there's no need for that.

SpanishFly · 24/01/2014 13:08

profondo it's along the same lines as "I'm just being honest" when they're being downright rude without considering the other person's feelings at all

Theonlyoneiknow · 24/01/2014 13:21

can you imagine Luisa's ego if she actually won!

TortillasAndChocolate · 24/01/2014 13:24

At least in the last series of big bro, I knew I really liked Charlotte and wanted her to win. There's no one I want to win this time. In a way I'd say sam or Casey just because they offend me the least and don't seem like they will be totally unbearable if they do win. But neither of them are amazingly entertaining. They're just nice girls.

Piscivorus · 24/01/2014 13:24

Just as an interesting point though. I have heard people say Jim shouldn't win because he is a sexist, racist homophobe but he hasn't overtly done anything like that in the house, in fact he has, so far, been relatively pleasant and has admitted awareness of being a knob at times. Are we just judging him more harshly because he stands for a lot of things most educated women dislike, rather than for the housemate he is iyswim?

I think Luisa has crossed the line from being entertaining into being a thoroughly unpleasant bully and we could see a lot more personality from the others without her as they are probably afraid to be themselves

SpanishFly · 24/01/2014 13:36

Jim has been manipulative and starts a lot of arguments in the house. He talks about wife-beating in his autobiography and has admitted many times in the house that he is sexist. He has actually said many sexist things in the house too.
He was thrown off Hells Kitchen for homophobic and aggressive behaviour.
So no, that isn't someone who "deserves" public votes imo.

SpanishFly · 24/01/2014 13:40

On BOTS the other night, did any of you pick up on the comment from Linda Lusardi (jims friend) that "he acted so calmly because he's in the house - if that had happened outside the house he'd have gone nuts" or something alon those. In other words his friend even says he's putting on a front because he's on BB!!

limitedperiodonly · 24/01/2014 13:55

I agree about Jim spanishfly.

I am grudgingly impressed by his act. And I believe it is an act. He jokingly referred to it in Luisa's task when he said it was killing him to agree with her. I think it might be why he takes himself off to the garden and goes to bed early.

I wonder what kind of person could make him crack in the house. There must be someone. Perhaps a middle-aged alpha male who disagreed with him - probably have to be straight and working class too or Jim would subtly undermine him as a dilettante.

I imagine that kind of opponent would cause an explosive confrontation. I'd like to see it though.

Stila · 24/01/2014 14:03

I think we'd have got a totally different Jim had he done the BB he was supposed to with Rylan , Heidi and Spencer .

I think Dappy is another who is killing himself to keep the Mr lovable act going , hence the beating himself up about anything he thinks might show him in a bad light .
