I'm sure after the Christmas special they said a new series would be starting in the New Year. So where is it?? [impatient]

OP posts:

It's definitely starting to catch up with my memories too grimble now we're into the new series. Some of those street scenes and town halls looked very familiar - from a long time ago! In fact with community halls it's amazing how they go on looking the same for years isn't it, a couple of village and church halls around here where I took the DC to toddler groups looked just like the CTM ante-natal clinic.

Well if it's a contest I'm just 63 Grin so I remember MOST of the things you mention glimmer !! I remember my poor friend who had lovely dark thick long hair going to V.S saloon and they cut it all off into a twiggy ! She was mortified!

I had too many natural curls so my dsis and I ironed our hair (literally)!! I don't remember the Jean Seberg but I think my DM had a Doris Day haircut do you remember those? I was tiny at the time so it's in a photo.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 29/01/2014 10:44

Gosh (suitable word from the era there?!) ppeat I thought all this modern hair straightening was bad enough (my DNiece wouldn't go to school unless she'd straightened out all her lovely natural curls every morning) but ironing your hair ? That sounds very dangerous?

BertieBottsJustGotMarried · 29/01/2014 10:56

I suppose it isn't dangerous if it's long enough Grin

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2014 10:56

Well we put brown paper over and under it Grin and we were careful we used the ironing board! I think the proper hair straighteners were either too expensive or didn't exist then actually. The chemical straighteners they used then really were dangerous Grin.

grimbletart · 29/01/2014 12:07

ppeatfruit - no definitely not a contest Grin. Just a surge of long laid-aside memories when I saw the posts. Yes, I do remember Doris Day haircuts. Never had one though. Also the hair-ironing thing. Kind of went along with the net petticoats soaked in sugar to make them stand out……

I think we are in danger of derailing the thread here ppeafruit…I'll be talking about playing on bomb sites soon…Grin

MarthasHarbour · 29/01/2014 12:25

loving how ppeat has namechanged grimble to glimmer Grin

dont worry about derailing ladies - i am loving the memories!

ppeatfruit · 29/01/2014 15:21

Grin glimmer is much nicer isn't it Marthas? How about glimmergateau ? To continue with the memories (not too many honest Grin I remember net petticoats and desperately wanting one or 2 but not being allowed. This 'not being allowed' is sooo silly because it just makes you want one more!!

At least they weren't mini skirts which we loved; I was lucky with slim thighs so those must 've looked a bit shocking Grin by then i was old enough to buy my own and 2 fingers to my parents!!

Dh remembers his sister ironing her hair. I remember my mum putting hers in huge rollers and then backcombing it!

OodlesofOodles · 02/02/2014 20:19

Wonder where the pregnancy test story is going.

Sleepyhoglet · 02/02/2014 20:32

Redrosesarethebest · 02/02/2014 20:34

EirikurNoromaour · 02/02/2014 20:35

ICanTuckMyBoobsInMyPockets · 02/02/2014 20:36

What has the blonde one been in before? Was she in Eastenders?

OodlesofOodles · 02/02/2014 20:38

Was the woman in prison in Eastenders?

OodlesofOodles · 02/02/2014 20:40
