Wizard, I agree with Speros comment earlier that you seem the most balanced person we have spoken to so far, who is looking at it from "the other side", so to speak. But your recent posts about the dd thing, seem a little less considered. Are you drinking tonight, perhaps?

there was a very sad case in Nottingham, IIRC, where the judge was extremely critical of social workers for seizing a baby from the delivery unit - immediately after birth - without actually having the legal power to do so. And for ignoring the fact that they had a duty of care to the mother, who had been in care herself. They were entirely focused on 'we have to take this baby immediately' not on 'how can we support this care leaver'.

IIRC, the child was eventually adopted anyway. But you wonder whether, if Nottingham had recognised their duty to support the mother, rather than going in all guns blazing and causing considerable trauma to her and her baby, there could have been a happier outcome.
