Anyone watching?

This promoting of the idea that SS want to steal babies makes me very uneasy...

Maybe after Brownies? Wink
or Whities?

I'm off to read. Don't want to be thinking about all of these weird men who never think about the kids rubbing their 'hands' over getting some poor child's pic from the internet.

Kewcumber I hate the I have to WIN at everything' aspect too - every man who I have met with that mentality has had narcissistic or sociopathic tendencies. Horrid.

Sneezecakesmum · 14/01/2014 22:44

I warned you way back ladies and no one listened. This is exactly how @ ...... Wizard (he's name changed) behaved before. He is a bit unhinged!

AnyFucker · 14/01/2014 22:46

No worries, sneeze. The more people see posters like that going off the boil, the better. Enough rope etc

ashtrayheart · 14/01/2014 22:48

He's busy tweeting now. Looking through, he's a fan of Mike Tyson #nuffsaid.

Sneezecakesmum · 14/01/2014 22:48

He always gives everyone a good run for their money, but there's something 'of the night' about him Grin

AnyFucker · 14/01/2014 22:48

Indeed

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 14/01/2014 22:54

Well, thats an unhinged CT twitter feed, if I ever did see one

Kewcumber · 14/01/2014 22:54

Edam, I think teenager mothers in care or recently in care themselves are probably one of the most vulnerable groups and probably one of the groups least able to deal with social services because of their own experiences in care. I'd love to be able to have a decent constructive discussion about what is being done or could be done to improve the outcome in these cases.

But not on this thread. Maybe another time.

Sneezecakesmum · 14/01/2014 22:59

If I remember rightly me @ unhinged would go on and on about social services! It was his hobby horse, but don't expect constructive discussion from that odd quarter!

AnyFucker · 14/01/2014 23:01

I think that when good and normal people are wavering between the reality and the almost-reality, it is helpful to give the unhinged a platform

wizardpc · 14/01/2014 23:03

Not had a drop - been for a quick 15k cycle. I did say.

Did you miss me?

Sneezecakesmum · 14/01/2014 23:03

Keeps him from lurking down dark alleyways!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 14/01/2014 23:04

exercise bike or real bike?

OP posts:
nennypops · 14/01/2014 23:04

Is he tweeting under the Josephs name?

edamsavestheday · 14/01/2014 23:04

Kewcumber, fair point. Would be great to have that discussion some time, though.

So frustrating that for the want of a nail the kingdom is lost. Short-sighted penny pinching doesn't only harm people, it costs far more ruddy money in the long run. Providing proper support and doing things right in the first place is far cheaper!

wizardpc · 14/01/2014 23:06

exercise bike of course at the gym!! Bit wet out I'm afraid. Im glad I have you all talking anyway

wizardpc · 14/01/2014 23:07

will you pls realise I am nothing to do with this Josephs character

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 14/01/2014 23:09

would have been a bit difficult to tweet from a real bike, I guess

you seem to be on a bit of a mission on there!

OP posts:
wizardpc · 14/01/2014 23:17

Really?

bunchoffives · 14/01/2014 23:17

I think possibly what the conspiracists are referring to is the change in Govt policy re adoptions. The Govt has instituted targets for adoption, allocated funds which financially hard pressed LAs can draw down on if they meet those targets, and are exerting pressure to increase adoption.

I can see that LAs will be putting pressure on SWs to meet adoption targets. An unscrupulous SW might be tempted to take a baby into care that they think would be easily adopted in order to meet their target, when they know that the likelihood of older children already in care (the vast majority of DCs in care) being adopted is low.

This IS NOT hard evidence. But it does show that the changes in adoption policies of the last decade or so could set up a system that means an unintentional consequence could be that children who might left with parents for assessment previously are now taken into care and then adopted, in order to meet targets and gain access to extra funds.

The pressure and speed of adoption is likely to increase mistakes happening.

www.gov.uk/government/news/more-children-adopted-than-ever-before

Edward Timpson, Children and Families Minister, said:

“It is hugely encouraging that the number of children adopted from care has risen to the highest level yet ....

“... we have made the £150 million Adoption Reform Grant available for local authorities to spend on recruitment reform, and this summer I gave voluntary adoption agencies a further £16 million to expand and recruit more adoptive parents. I hope to see this funding deliver results."

LoveSewingBee · 14/01/2014 23:18

What saddens me is that there are probably still Sir Roy Meadow types out there. Making lots of easy money as expert witnesses. Virtually being above the law as their identity may not be divulged and no details of the case may be made public due to the family court system. I find it an utter disgrace.

WestmorlandSausage · 14/01/2014 23:22

wizard if any of the families that have fled to other countries to 'escape' social services here as they have had children removed in England then came to the attention of social services in their new country of residence and had their children removed there would you also be arguing that those same children should be repatriated back to the UK?

Because thats kind of what happened in the italian case but the other way around.

Also, for someone who has not been on these boards before you must have spent some time on them to have read the previous debate on the italian case as it is about a days worth of reading?

I don't think we have had this many new posters ever sign up JUST to debate one topic before. Very interesting.

LoveSewingBee · 14/01/2014 23:23

I wonder whether he was ever stripped of his knighthood after willfully destroying so many lives ...

nennypops · 14/01/2014 23:23

Bunchofolives, adoption targets were abolished in 2008. And they were there to deal with the problem of children who had been in care for far too long, not to encourage LAs to take more children into care. In fact, until the Baby P cases LAs were being pressurised to reduce the numbers of children being taken into care, not least by a large rise in the court fees for care proceedings.

bunchoffives · 14/01/2014 23:25

This post really shocked me and illustrates what is wrong with the way in which people regard these cases. I sincerely hope Lilka reviews her understanding of the concept of British justice.

Lilka Tue 14-Jan-14 20:39:09

No, I don't think running abroad is the right thing to do

We have no proof either she or her partner is innocent. Not saying they aren't innocent, but there's no proof
