Custardo · 13/01/2014 22:12

Rhubs - A.G.RA? if anyone knows you do

PacificDogwood · 13/01/2014 22:12

A.G.RA may be a reference to The Sign of the Four.
Maybe.

The third brother, Sherringford, is actually Q.
There, you heard it here first Grin.

PacificDogwood · 13/01/2014 22:13

"No sister of mine would accept such a position" said by SH more than once.

THERhubarb · 13/01/2014 22:16

It was actually Watson's brother that Holmes deduced from examining the pocket watch. It had belonged to Watson's father who had given it to his eldest son, an alcoholic, before it was passed onto Watson who was none too impressed with Holmes for his acute deductions and insight into his private life.

But of course they will turn it into his sister.

THERhubarb · 13/01/2014 22:19

Yes, the Sign of Four. The treasure of Agra which is what got Mary Morstan's father into trouble.

THERhubarb · 13/01/2014 22:21

Oh and Watson WAS a womaniser. Holmes teased him about it on more than one occasion and in the Sign of Four Watson boasted that he had experience of women over four continents or something like that.

The Private Life of Holmes did play a lot on his womanising ways.

I see they haven't touched on that in the BBC series. Nothing else is known of Watson really.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 13/01/2014 22:22

Sherlock
Mycroft
Sherringford

Shoulda gone to Babynames.

I liked this one. I liked how Mary turned out to be both a baddy and a goodie Grin

Moln · 13/01/2014 22:23

Do you know what REALLY bothered me. It was Christmas Day, yet all the leaves were on the trees.

That's poor filming timing imo

THERhubarb · 13/01/2014 22:25

And we all know that it pissed it down on Christmas Day.

GatoradeMeBitch · 13/01/2014 22:31

It annoyed me that Sherlock wished CAM a 'Merry Christmas' just before shooting him, it seemed so crass and out of character.

If he had to stay anything how about informing CAM that Redbeard was the family dog, not a salacious blackmail-worthy secret?

And if CAM was trying to get to Mycroft through Sherlock, surely that meant he didn't have anything on him yet, so why did Mycroft warn him off so vehemently?

Did anyone enjoy this series as much as the last two? I will watch it again, but I just feel like this series has damaged most of the characters.

AndiMac · 13/01/2014 22:32

Sherlock deduced Watson's sister (thought it was brother) from Watson's mobile phone in the very first episode, a Study in Pink.

winterkills · 13/01/2014 22:48

I wondered if it was originally scheduled for Christmas but clashed too much with Dr Who?

Why the heck would Watson just chuck the memory stick in the woodburner as if it was a piece of paper and why the heck would the crack assassin just leave it there Confused

tom2468tom · 13/01/2014 23:01

A bit of a disappointing ending? Was that really a whole series?
hmmmmm

I am not sure that it lived up to my expectations

FuckingWankwings · 13/01/2014 23:11

John chucked Mary's incriminating memory stock away because, as he said, events in her past were her business not his. And I guess she didn't retrieve it because she wants her old life to be destroyed and forgotten.
I came on to say that we found out about John's sister in episode 1, but AndiMac beat me to it Smile.

And there is an episode in series 2 with a brief montage of John and several women. I can't recall much detail but he does things like forgetting what they do and their dogs' names. The implication is that there's a bit of a parade of women.

FuckingWankwings · 13/01/2014 23:11

Memory stick not stock!

winterkills · 13/01/2014 23:23

I know why he threw it away but who the hell would just throw it in the fire? And even if he's daft enough to, surely she isn't going to just leave it there - a memory stick supposedly containing all the details of her nefarious former life. Really daft.

LittleBearPad · 13/01/2014 23:27

Well the memory sticks not going to be much use after it's spent a few minutes in the fire

FuckingWankwings · 13/01/2014 23:27

Wouldn't the fire destroy it? I mean, I suppose he also threw it in the fire for dramatic effect, but I'd have thought that was a good way of getting rid of it.

winterkills · 13/01/2014 23:33

Not necessarily - it was in a metal casing and they are just in the family living room so anyone could come along and spot it and retrieve it - Mycroft, the druggy guy, Sherlock. Just daft - probably deliberate so that it can be brought up again in the next series but still daft.

Jux · 13/01/2014 23:41

Agree with THERhubarb vis a vis SH and Dr Who. Stop changing them into ordinary people - they are not ordinary people; that's the whole point of them.

FuckingWankwings · 13/01/2014 23:47

Either brought up again next series, or just thrown in the fire for effect! I do think it'd be a pity if this was the last we heard of Mary's dodgy past; would seem to have been dealt with pretty perfunctorily.

winterkills · 13/01/2014 23:55

Well I'm still waiting for Mary to be killed off

I just can't see how babies and domestic life is going to fit in but I suppose this is the new-style Sherlock. Maybe they should rename it '221b' and just keep recycling all the relationships like in Corry or Eastenders.

VenusOfWillendorf · 14/01/2014 00:45

Hasn't the story so far been pretty much in 'real time'? Sherlock was 'dead' from 2011-2013 in our time and CAMs analysis showed him 'officially deceased 2011-13'. If they keep to that, then if its not on for another two years, Mary will have had the baby when its back on.
I really don't think they are going to have a baby in it, and I don't think they would kill off Mary and baby between shows. So hopefully the Christmas shown was 2014 and they will pick it up again early next year to continue with Mary still pregnant.

TheDoctrineOf2014 · 14/01/2014 07:30

This is the first series I've watched, really good.
