This is a thread for all fans of the daytime soap 'Doctors', BBC1, 1.45pm. All welcome, newbies, lurkers and regulars.

Quick New Year Resolutions:

  • Mrs T will wear her flirty wig more often.
  • Heston will develop a deep and lasting love for a woman in a flirty wig whose name begins with W.
  • Howard will pursue his fishing interest so we see him in fishing gear and getting wet at every opportunity.
  • 6tl will resolve to burn her shit blouses and perish in the fire.

I am sure you can all think of more.

Let the WTF commence! Grin

It was the running joke about helicopters having it in for him that made #2 good. Plus as an accident so many potential victims skimmed past in favour of Romano

toldmywrath · 26/01/2014 13:08

Was he the one who had his arm coptered off? I loved ER & Dr Green.
I loved St Elsewhere- Dr Ehrlich played by Ed Begley jnr is one I always remember. But the ending has completely gone out of my head-someone please refresh my memory of it?
I used to watch Sons & Daughters plus Young Doctors (both Aussie daytime soaps, I believe) Now that shows my age!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/01/2014 13:17

Yes, then he got killed by another helicopter a few seasons later, a bit unbelievable. Was it Archie who said "he must have done something really mean to a helicopter in a former life?".

Never watched Sons and Daughters or Young Doctors, although I do remember them being on.

OodlesofOodles · 26/01/2014 13:24

Lol at 'a bit unbelievable' from a Doctors fan Grin Gangster clowns anyone?

cinnamongreyhound · 26/01/2014 13:25

I watched shorthand street but I lived at home with my parents then and my mum watches everything! I'm sure at elsewhere seems familiar too. I loved ER!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/01/2014 13:31

I had different criteria for my enjoyment of ER!

Raahh · 26/01/2014 17:03

told- the ending of St Elsewhere, iirc (and it's ages since i saw it), made out that the whole series had been in the imagination of Tommy - the autistic son of the Doctor whose name I forget. Weston? Anyway, he had a snow globe, and in the snow globe was a replica of the hospital, so we were meant to think everything that had happened had been in his head. I

Or something.

it was on a list of some of the most truly WTF series endings of all time. I'm not sure, but I think the series was axed, and the writers were pissed off.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/01/2014 17:38

My mum watched sons and daughters too :)

toldmywrath · 26/01/2014 18:15

Thanks Raahh I have a vague memory of it now. I used to love watching it-had a lot going on & I can still visualise some of the characters. Iirc there was a rapist who turned out to be a doctor. It would probably seem dated now, but I'd watch it all again.
(I'm sure that a lot of people get their medical knowledge from all these TV shows)

curlyclaz13 · 26/01/2014 18:52

I remember sons and daughters and young doctors, mum watched them so if we were off school we used to watch too.

tilliebob · 26/01/2014 19:52

Was Young Doctors the one which included the vet with the wombat as a pet? That's one of those shows that I mention and everyone else looks blankly at me.

leezl · 26/01/2014 21:01

Right who remembers Children's Ward?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/01/2014 21:07

Don't remember Children's Ward, however I do remember Angels.

Raahh · 26/01/2014 21:15

Country Practice was the one with Fatso the Wombat.Grin

I remember Children's Ward- I'm sure the girl who went on to marry Steve MacDonald in Corrie was in it.

Young doctors was amazing, they uniforms were ridiculously short- and there were never any patients, unless the doctors/nurses were illGrin

tilliebob · 26/01/2014 21:17

Children's Ward on Citv or whatever it was then? I remember that! Kevin Le Wotsits name off Corries (ex?) missus used to be in that! Smile

curlyclaz13 · 26/01/2014 21:36

I loved children's ward ! I used to watch casualty and play 'guess who has the fatal minor injury', holby and cardiac arrest. I also liked real hospital stuff, does anyone remember Jimmy's ? And we watch 24 hours in A&E now. I watch a lot of medical stuff ! the term medical used in a very loose sense

leezl · 26/01/2014 21:48

This is going to sound like I'm joking, but I genuinely loved Jimmy's! Grin

curlyclaz13 · 26/01/2014 21:51

It was fantastic, I think it was quiet ahead of its time thinking back now. Quite graphic too ?

cinnamongreyhound · 26/01/2014 21:58

I almost touched Paul Nichols today!! He looked really grumpy and was smoking but I seriously considered brushing past him in an almost empty street!

leezl · 26/01/2014 22:01

PAUL NICHOLLS ShockShockShock Heartthrob and a half!

tilliebob · 26/01/2014 22:02

LOL that reminds me of the Blackadder sketch where Percy says " I nearly touched her once!" and Blackadder says "Touched her what?!"

Sorry forgot to mention, am a huge huge huge Blackadder geek.

Must go look for a thread about that too.......

MsNobodyAgain · 27/01/2014 13:43

Weathergirl looks ok today Raahh. Maroon jacket and black dress combo.
