BBC2, 8.30pm. Monica is back. Michel is back. Sadly, Greg is also back, but we can't have everything. This is my favourite Masterchef variant, so I am a happy bunny.

OP posts:

I thought that too, Grace. Who doesn't leave the shaped loaves to do another rise?

Gracelo · 21/11/2013 12:30

I have never seen it done the Monica-way before teeardis and I'm from a long line of bakers.
I shall go and ponder a Dr Who namechange now. Tardis

Please do and join the thread in Site Stuff upon which a competition might be happening.

I have seen bread made with only one rising: I think it might have been a 'Doris Grant loaf' or some such. That's fine if you are in a hurry and need to knock up a batch of loaves quickly, but for Masterchef and fine dining? No, IMO.

Pegfreak · 21/11/2013 17:10

I agree, Jax, I thought Ryan was far too up himself from the start. That's taken him down a peg or two! Grin

I can't wait for tonight! The critics is my favourite one of the week! Though I don't like Mr Thumb much - you know, the grossly fat one.

I love watching MRJ doing his classics, he makes it looks so easy and delicious! That pork pie... Mmm!

Jux · 21/11/2013 18:22

I love the critics night too. I do like Mr Thumb (is that his real name?! Shows how much attention I pay!).

I have made bread with only one rising quite often, but I would expect two risings for Masterchef!

TEEARDIS · 21/11/2013 19:52

Mr Thumb? Is that the Evening Standard guy? With the glasses?

I really should go to bed as I'm not well.

But I want to watch Belfast Boy!

TEEARDIS · 21/11/2013 20:02

So tired of the phrase 'utterly gutted'.

TEEARDIS · 21/11/2013 20:20

Another woman bites the dust.

NotAnotherPackedLunch · 21/11/2013 20:23

Looks like Belfast boy will be through to the critics so it's no early night for you TEE.

SignoraStronza · 21/11/2013 20:26

Nooo! I thought James was really good compared to Marcel. Sad

colleysmill · 21/11/2013 20:29

Dh is back tonight (all week I've been watching in peace!) and is muttering about "ageism" .........

TEEARDIS · 21/11/2013 20:29

Ageism and sexism!

Except that she was horrid.

Yes, no early night! Grin

pootlebug · 21/11/2013 20:33

WTF with doing not-tried-yet dishes? FFS, it doesn't make you look daring and interesting, it makes you look a twat.

Stinkyminkymoo · 21/11/2013 20:35

Cannot believe they sent Army James home over Marcel! Do they not think about the previous dishes they've cooked? So annoyed!

Stinkyminkymoo · 21/11/2013 20:37

Me and DH call him Mr Thumb because his head looks like a thumb, no neck-to-head definition! Urgh!

Stinkyminkymoo · 21/11/2013 20:38

Me and DH call him Mr Thumb because there's no head-to-neck definition so just looks like a thumb. Urgh!

Stinkyminkymoo · 21/11/2013 20:39

Sorry, didn't think the first post posted! Smile

colleysmill · 21/11/2013 20:39

Do the critics just sit and eat all day? I could quite fancy that job

SontaranForADestructiveStroll · 21/11/2013 20:41

Sooo David is still going with his tasting plate schtick then?

SontaranForADestructiveStroll · 21/11/2013 20:44

Well that was a bit of a disaster.

TEEARDIS · 21/11/2013 20:44

I cannot believe they kept Marcel over Army James.

Huge mistake.

My James did not do well. Confused

Also, just because I can: Tardis

colleysmill · 21/11/2013 20:45

Monica looks frustrated with Marcel

SontaranForADestructiveStroll · 21/11/2013 20:47

Is it like GBBO where they seem to ignore previous episodes when judging?

I think Marcel could have done with a Tardis
