I've watched the latest episode now twice

I am that they didn't show Rick talking to Daryl.

I am also that we're supposed to believe that Glenn would survive after his lungs filling with blood like that. I'm not sure what intubating him would achieve. His lungs were full of blood ffs. It's just not believable.

I also sincerely hope that the bag they used was attached to a fresh tube not the one from the zombie

Herschel usually annoys me a bit, but I was quite touched by his struggle to retain his faith in the face of the continuing zombie apocalypse / flu outbreak.

Hopefully the Rick/Daryl showdown will be next week. Although it looks as if they may be distracted by an unwelcome visitor then.

Have you noticed how the zombies are continuing to decompose over time? A lot of them just have skulls for heads now. There must come a point when they are so decomposed they can't move anymore. If the newly dead are dealt with immediately, that means the zombie swarms will gradually die out, won't they?

Tallaween - Yes, they showed Hershall opening a fresh tube - it's bags they seem short of. I did wonder about the fluid too - surely you'd have to suck all that crap out before using the bag? Clearly we are of the battlefield doctor course and not of Alabama Vet School!

As far as the decomposition goes - I was a bit annoyed by that, can't remember who it was - but someone sliced into one of the old, crumbly ones yet there were jets of fresh almost arterial blood.

Maybe when they're all dead it'll be a brave new world of eutopia?

I noticed the decomposition in this episode.

I'm wondering why the zombie swarm are attacking the prison when they had a whole town full of dinner with the Governor and just used to wander up one or two at a time. It does make me realise that the six foot fence I put up around my garden and which I thought would stand me in good stead in the ZA is not going to cut the mustard.

I think they are attacking the prison because the governor is leading them there with fresh meat, alicia. I thought the little girl was feeding the zombies, but now I think it's the governor.

Am annoyed that next week's episode is a stand-alone one about the governor. I want to see the Daryl-Rick showdown .

I hadn't thought about the blood/decomposition issue, Santiago. I suppose the film-makers are going for maximum gore/shock factor, rather than verisimilitude.

Housekeeping question: as this is clearly advertised as the US pace thread, as long as we post them in a way that they aren't seen in the first line in 'Active Threads', why can't we talk openly about plot developments?

Anyway, I had a facepalm moment last night about it not even occuring to me in Episode 1, that the hand seen feeding rats to the walkers was the one-eyed one.

Other than that, I was a bit bored by Episode 5. Bit anti-climactic and nothing really covered in terms of themes that hasn't been already.

On a logical note, instead of dealing with the fence vs walkers issue ad-hoc, WTF are they not wondering what to do to deter walkers from migrating to them? Time to go hunting, surely.

Michonne and the baby was sad. Was she a mum then before? did baby die?
DH says he thinks that the reason she doesnt stay at the prison (always out on runs) is because she was probably on her way to prison when the outbreak happened. (if youve played The Walking Dead Game on Ipad or xbox) itll make sense. I dont know, need more of her background story.

I gave up on it. I have precious TV time and having found out half way through it was all Gov centred I stopped watching.
The Gov'd craziness was tiring last season and quite frankly I didn't want to sit through an hour of him turning into a lovely person.

What happened to his little minion btw? And how crazy were those women!??? Two of them, a child and a dying man and they open their door (with free guns and ammo) to a psycho- looking stranger? Quite frankly they were asking for unspeakable things to happen to them? And they managed to last nearly two years without having left their flat?

Do you think the Governor is now Captain Twinky? All lovely and shiny like a candy-floss covered unicorn? It's weird - I'm with anonacfr - I really didn't like the Governor last season and I'd rather just spend an hour watching Michonne swing her sword and Daryl can take his top off or something.

He's not turned nice though has he? He's still a crazed psycho. Through all his craziness last series it was his daughter who calmed him. He's just found a new daughter/family substitute. He just wants to try and find something of his life that existed before the world turned crazy. I think we all would be like that. To be honest, I'm surprised there are not more pairings off in the group in the prison. I'll stick a quid on that by next week he's back to being a nutter killing people for fun.

And unwashed and with a beard I still would - Rick can stick with his bean counting, I washed my hands of him when he kicked Carol out.
