I'm soooo excited
I cannot wait til DC's bedtime tonight!

OP posts:
Cybercat · 16/09/2013 22:27

Bloody DH is still not home and I've had to get ready for bed. Should have watched it by myself.

Cooroo · 16/09/2013 22:32

But Cybercat you've got 3 whole episodes to look forward to, think of that. Hmmm I think I would have had to watch and pretend to DP I hadn't. Which would be very hard.

Cybercat · 16/09/2013 22:46

I'm all up to date apart from the most recent episode. DH is back and I've warned him I won't be waiting next time. We've got the new Sons of Anarchy episode to watch too.

AlannaPartridge · 16/09/2013 22:49
Shock

Extraordinary episode.

CYBERCAT - DON'T READ

I think Walt saves Jesse & then Jesse kills him. The Jane reveal was the end for Walt and Jesse :(

Elsiequadrille · 16/09/2013 22:58

Yes, "my goodness" was rather restrained, Stranger Grin

DisappointedHorse · 16/09/2013 23:15

What can I say really? I barely breathed for the entire episode.

The scene in the desert was painful but the aftermath was devastating. Everything he did it for, gone.

The phone call to Skylar was incredible acting from them both and I didn't immediately twig what he was doing.

Alanna, I think you may be right. I don't think there can be any coming back from that. I think it's testament to BB's acting, writing and direction though that on some level I still want him to get away. Despite all he's done.

breakingbadaddict · 17/09/2013 00:37

I still want him to get away with it too! Ha! Is that bad?! I don't think he will, he can't, it would be a crap ending if he did. They can't go all Lost on us with a shit ending!

Elsiequadrille · 17/09/2013 01:18

And it's also wanting to see how he's going to manage to get away with it I think. It will possibly be the cancer that gets him in the end.

I'm wondering what it is that will bring him out of hiding, and needing the guns and ricin.

AlannaPartridge · 17/09/2013 03:10

Some things that I missed, but cleverer people than I spotted....

  • The chess game has the White King almost checkmated, but with a couple more moves to go

  • First we had the Problem dog (Gale), then we had the Rabid dog/Old Yeller (Jesse) - then we have the Stray Dog (assuming this is Walt)

  • There's an incredible shot where Walt is standing by his car after it's broken down. You can see his reflection in the car and the top of his head is caved in by a bullet hole Shock

  • As Walt is rolling the barrel through the desert, there's a pair of beige trousers on the ground. Gilligan confirmed these were Walt's trousers from the pilot

And here's what I think is interesting.....most of Walt's actions in this were not Heisenbergian (my new word!). He was willing to give up everything to save Hank's life, he tried to clear Skyler with that phone call and he gave back Holly. The only Heisenberg thing was his hatred of Jesse, and I think the Jane thing was pure spite.

I need to get out more. Can't wait till next week :)

Cooroo · 17/09/2013 06:39

I was really thick and didn't realise what was going on in the phone call although I could see how hard it was for him. Love how they gave him all the Skyler haters' words.

Loved the car reflection, the dog and Jesse's birds.

breakingbadaddict · 17/09/2013 07:56

Alanna, amazing thanks for pointing them out! I did see some things & thought they must be significant but my brain doesn't work fast enough when I'm enthralled!

LesserSpottedNeckSnake · 17/09/2013 08:22

That was...painful. I can't bear what is happening to Jesse. Seeing him shackled like that was somehow worse than all the murders that have gone before. I will admit to a 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' at Hank's exit. The acting is superb. I really want that evil little shit who's cooking with Jesse to get his. Fucker.

StrangerintheNight · 17/09/2013 09:37

Eek, that was grim. Love how Walt is still utterly baffled that his family don't respect and admire him for what he's done.

Another good call-back to earlier episodes was Poor Jesse's face looking very much like Gus Fring's post-bomb face and also the pink plane-crash teddy.

AlannaPartridge · 17/09/2013 09:50

Yes, yes to Jesse's face looking like Fring's. I thought that too because when he was looking at the photo it looked like his eye was completely gone.

Where was the teddy? Missed that.

misslaughalot · 17/09/2013 10:30

Shock OMG what an episode!

Hank's demise was brutal. I knew it was coming yet still gasped when it happened.

Loved seeing Walt's trousers out in the desert, and good spot with Jesse's face being like Gus's and the pink teddy. Alanna the teddy was from the plane crash in the earlier seasons, Walt found it in his pool and half of its face was burnt.

Also, Walt lying on the ground in pieces after Hank was shot reminded me of Gus lying by the pool in his flashback when he went to see Don Eladio.

misslaughalot · 17/09/2013 10:38

Also, have you guys seen this?

BettyButterknife · 17/09/2013 15:20

I also think Walt must be going back for Jesse, but doesn't he think Jesse's dead?

Maybe he's going to get his money back from Uncle Evil and then stumbles upon Jesse...

Whatever happens, OMFG! It's just so tense. I can barely stand it.

Lottapianos · 17/09/2013 15:34

I cried through about half of last night's episode. It was pure agony. Poor Hank Sad He was so brave - I would have begged and pleaded and promised Jack anything under the sun. I thought until the last second that he may have had a way out of it and it was just heartbreaking when he shot him.

And Marie Sad I love Marie.

And poor Walt Jr Sad He's such a sweetie.

And Jesse Sad Sad Sad Surely there can be no way back for him and Walt. I can't believe Walt told him about Jane - that was unbearably cruel.

Not for the first time, I've sat and watched what happens and thought 'how on earth did it come to all this?' The brief scene at the start of the episode showed how much Walt has changed - seeing him rehearsing the lie he was going to tell Skylar, putting so much effort into it, whereas now......

I do realise it's not real by the way Wink

I have absolutely no clue how the last 2 episodes are going to wrap up. I predict lots more tears, though unbearable tension as well as sadness!

AlannaPartridge · 17/09/2013 15:54

Miss Oh, I know about the teddy from before, I thought it had made a reappearance yesterday. I misread.

Maybe Walt goes back for Jesse's confession DVD?

tobiasfunke · 17/09/2013 16:29

I've caught up now so I can join the discussion without fearing spoilers. The last two episodes were amazing.

Why is Todd bothering to cook meth when he has his share of the 70 million dollars? Is it because he seems to have some sort of creepy attraction to Lydia and wants to please her. DH noticed that Todd was left alone with Walt in a lot of the desert scenes and was wondering whether it was Walt's idea for him to take Jesse. Watching it back we couldn't really tell and why would he do it? I did wonder if Walt telling Jesse about Jane was a confession of sorts not just pure evil as it was the last big secret.

DH and I are presuming the big gun we see him with in the opening scene of the series is to go back and use against the Nazis. Is it because he knows or finds out that Jesse is being held there and wants to free him or is it to revenge Hanks death -after all a lot of the last episode seemed to be all about redemption and making good.

Do you think poor Huell is still sitting in that room?

I worry about Marie as the Nazis are off to look for the confession DVD. Mind you if they do off her it will save Alberquerque from the mother of all shoplifting sprees.

breakingbadaddict · 17/09/2013 17:29

Do you think Jesse & Walt will have a stand off in the last episode, I love this magazine cover;
popwatch.ew.com/2013/09/04/this-weeks-cover-buckle-up-for-the-end-of-breaking-bad/
I too felt so much sympathy for Jesse, but surely he can't get off scott free either, he is a crim after all!
I think Todd wants to cook meth to try and get his leg over Lydia, I don't predict things will end well for her either...

AlannaPartridge · 17/09/2013 18:57

See - the whole Jesse/Walt thing confuses me, and for the life of me I cannot see what's coming. I can't even hazard a guess.

Their relationship has been the engine driving this show, in my opinion, and I simply cannot believe that it'll end with one shooting the other in the head. I just can't.

But they clearly hate each other now, and there's no coming back from that. Unless, unless......someone pointed out that Walt & Meth Damon were alone in the desert while the Nazis were digging up the money, so maybe Walt told freak boy to save Jesse for some convoluted reason. But that doesn't really explain the Jane reveal Hmm

I really, really want Jesse to survive & not end up on death row. He killed Gale to save Walt's life, so I can forgive him for that (although I LOVED Gale), but he never deserved all the shit that he's had to deal with. I keep thinking back to that boy with the "Yo, Biatch" ansaphone message and his "Build a robot???" when the RV broke down. Now he's a shaking wreck who seems 20 years older :(

Oh, and RIP Hank. "My name is ASAC Schrader...and you can go fuck yourself". Class.

Snowballed · 17/09/2013 19:07

I typed a nice long comment out & it's gone into the ether Hmm

Anyway - who sprayed Heisenberg at the house???

AlannaPartridge · 17/09/2013 19:11

Anyway - who sprayed Heisenberg at the house???

We're assuming it was written with hatred/scorn - maybe it's an admiring thing? Which might mean Todd?

Maybe Walt himself? "Remember my name!" (But I doubt it).

I don't think it's Walt Jr though.

TotemPole · 17/09/2013 19:15

I felt so sorry for Jesse. He's always been out of his depth throughout this.
