New thread.

This is the last thread

Hi, I'm new to the thread. I'm just about to turn 47 and have watched Corrie on and off for my whole life!!

I pretty much agree with all the comments you've been making. Mandy was awful. Lloyd's last girlfriend Cherry was a sexy stripper and then he went out with Mandy - quite a change!

Can I ask please - why do you call Paul the fireman smellytrousers?? Grin

RubberBullets · 12/08/2013 20:42

Maybe Mandy is going because Liz is coming back and Lloyd gets back with her?

If I remember correctly, Paul usually has an expression on his face like he has smelt something horrible. We assume it is because his trousers smell. I could be wrong though :o

hippychick66 · 12/08/2013 20:51

Oh yeah - I'd forgotten that funny scene when Steve discovered Lloyd was seeing his Mum - "She's my mummy!" Love that double act.

whatkungfuthat · 12/08/2013 20:54

Duncan James!

magentastardust · 12/08/2013 21:21

Just catching up-haha Mandys exit couldn't have been faster -no one else came out to say goodbye and the taxi driver even sped off.

eddiemairswife · 12/08/2013 22:11

Wouldn't there be a limit on how many visitors Nick could have? there were 6 of them round his bed. Have they closed the Bistro? No-one seems to be working there. Tracy is vile.

FannyMcNally · 12/08/2013 22:46

I thought it was odd the other day in the hospital when the close family were just all sitting in the corridor and not in with Nick and didn't bat an eyelid when Tina asked if she could go in to Nick's room and speak to David. I know they needed a device to get Tina to 'overhear' David's guilt but she wasn't there to visit Nick and I wasn't sure what she needed to say to David that couldn't wait until he got home. Maybe I missed that as I'm only half tuning in at the moment.

Mandy's departure was so spur of the moment, how did she pack so quickly? No tears either and the usual Corrie, no need to give any reasonable notice to employers,

Poor old Tina is now going to feel guilty about Rita. Liked the Tracey attack but would have preferred a punch. How Deirdre can let her daughter mouth off like that!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 12/08/2013 22:57

Good to see Gail go back to her "shades of Ivy" persona rather than the ditzy fool tonight. I loved how she made it all about her and told off Leanne.

Iwantacampervan · 13/08/2013 07:52

I don't know if I was watching more carefully last night but I noticed several inconsistencies :

  • where did Rita's purple coat come from and why was she suddenly wearing it when she arrived at the Red Rec? The weather still looked sunny.
  • Sally was talking to Tim walking along the road dressed up going for her date. Later on she is still walking to the bus stop, now with insurance man. It must be the longest street in the world !
  • Faye says she is going to the toilet in the pub, gets talking to Katy and they decide to go home - no word to Anna/Owen and no one seems to notice they have gone. No one seemed to think she had been a long time in the toilet or as she's a 'soap child' they mut be ued to having her disappear for long periods of time.
  • why didn't Julie ask about Hayley's absence when she ws chatting at the factory or even mention her (as presumaly she knew).
  • my 12 yo DD picked up on David telling the boys to 'get your coats' when it was a summer's day unless it's just an expression for get ready to go out.

I must get a life and find something ele to do rather than over analyse a fictional drama. In my defence we had been on a long walk and I hadn't the energy for much else.

whatkungfuthat · 13/08/2013 09:15

I thought the same about Faye just going home. Did anyone else think that Sally's make-up looked a bit odd? It made her look piggy eyed with no eyebrows, she looks better normally.

'Tracey' is an appalling actress, not at all believable.

Clawdy · 13/08/2013 09:48

Those "threatening" teenagers in the park looked about as menacing as Simon and Max.

FannyMcNally · 13/08/2013 09:49

I thought exactly the same about Sally walking about all togged up!

SPBisResisting · 13/08/2013 09:50

I hope you don't mind me barging in, but I watched Coronaton Street years ago and happened to catch 5 mins this morning after not watching for well over a decade.

Why were Gail and Leanne looking all weepy eyed? I could tell it was something to do with David, but what is Leanne's relationship to him - as far as I'm concerned she's his ex SIL!!

FannyMcNally · 13/08/2013 09:53

Briefly, Leanne is married to Nick and David caused an accident which has left Nick in a coma. David has been gunning for Nick since finding out that his wife is pregnant by Nick. Leanne is completely unaware and David's wife, Kylie, doesn't know David knows that the baby isn't his. Think that's it!

SPBisResisting · 13/08/2013 10:02

Ah thank you! Drama indeed. I thought Leanne and Nick split up ages ago, must have missed them getting back together.
I am dying to start watching this again but I rarely get to control the remote control :o

whatkungfuthat · 13/08/2013 10:10

I don't think we know who that father is though, it could be either of them

DTisMYdoctor · 13/08/2013 12:29

I thought the same about Faye leaving the pub. Sally's look was strange - I did wonder if she's gone down the botox route though, I thought her forehead was very still when she was talking to Tim. However, when she was talking to Tim she was going to Dev's to get new tights, hence being out later with the boring insurance man.

I only just realised that Julie had reappeared! Short maternity leave - how long has she been out for?

ImNotBloody14 · 13/08/2013 12:51

where had Julie gone to in the show? holiday? is brian still in it? tbh I forgot she'd been away. there's another one they could do without Grin

Mistyshore · 13/08/2013 13:03

Julie went to look after her mum who broke her hip(?) in a fall.

The actress has been off on maternity leave.

ImNotBloody14 · 13/08/2013 13:55

ah yes! I remember now.

btw- is Hayley actress pregnant too?

Begginyouformercy · 13/08/2013 14:15

I like Julie - I think she's great for Corrie as a character.

What a horrible ending - I'm going to be worrying about Rita until the next time it's on Sad.

What was it Kirk said about the woman and the rollercoaster? "That's a bit advanced"? Grin Grin

I liked Tommeh's t-shirt.

squoosh · 13/08/2013 14:18

I'm worried about Rita too! Is she going to be jostled until tomorrow evening? She'll be exhausted.

Begginyouformercy · 13/08/2013 14:21

I was filling up Blush

Lighthousekeeping · 13/08/2013 14:21

I don't think she's prsgnant

squoosh · 13/08/2013 14:22

Rita isn't pregnant?
