Well, here we are again, another French Open. Yay ! Grin

It's a shame we wont see Murray, as he was playing very well, it would have been great to see the Top 5 'together' again.

No prizes for guessing who the favourite for the Mens is, VAMOS RAFA ! I'd love to see him win it for the 8th time.

Roger Fed is looking well, just started playing , it would be good to see him do well, although we all know Wimby is his best tournament.

Novak seemed to be struggling a bit earlier this year, after the Aussie Open win, it will be interesting to see how he fares this year on clay. Nicely set up so that he and Rafa will meet in the Semi's, should they both play well. Which easily leads to Rafa for the Final, and his 8th win ! Don't forget, Novak fans, that Rafa beat Nole in 4 sets last year. Wink

Serena Williams is looking her usual belting self, just thrashed her opponent, she must be a consideration for the win, as must last years winner, Maria Sharapova. I'd like to see Laura Robson do well, and Heather Watson, but realistically Laura could be out in the first round.

Hope everybody enjoys the tennis as much as I do, I'm going to have a great fortnight, 9:30am to 9:00pm everyday. Bliss !

Looking forward to having our usual daft threads running, along with the ogling and arguments. Here's to another great summer of tennis ! Wine

Well, Ferrer is doing well, and I think Tsonga might just win this one ( Iknow it's early days...)prepared to be proved wrong though!

Raahh · 04/06/2013 16:18

Looks like Federer hasn't really arrived in this match- he isn't a player who regularly plays 5 set matches, will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

PetiteRaleuse · 04/06/2013 16:22

Ingers crossed Tsonga keeps this up. Is he the last Frenchman standing? i can't remember.

Raahh · 04/06/2013 16:38

I think he is - Petite.

Tsonga will be serving for the second set Grin

LottieJenkins · 04/06/2013 16:42

Go Tsonga!! Smile

Raahh · 04/06/2013 16:43

Robredo is 2 sets down- can he make it 4 matches in a row that he comes back from the dead? Grin doubtful

Raahh · 04/06/2013 17:06

Fed is not looking at all comfortable or happy today. He's not one for querying calls, as a rule.

Vamos Ferrer! Robredo's run came to a swift end- but I'm sure he's happy with how he's done so far..

Raahh · 04/06/2013 17:13

30 years since Yannick Noah won- blimey, I now feel very old.Grin Loved Noah.

Raahh · 04/06/2013 17:16

can't watch

Raahh · 04/06/2013 17:17

Wow!!!

Well done Tsonga!!Grin

LottieJenkins · 04/06/2013 17:17

Well done Tsonga! It is Jo's day!!!!!!!!!!Grin

Witt · 04/06/2013 17:18

Well done Tsonga Grin

LottieJenkins · 04/06/2013 17:19

Mats Willander was always my favourite when i was growing up!

Raahh · 04/06/2013 17:24

My absolute favourite was/is Edberg. It wasn't easy being an Edberg fan-he was a beautiful player, but there was never the air of inevitability that he would always win, that players like Sampras or Federer had in their prime.

PetiteRaleuse · 04/06/2013 17:26

Yay !!!!!!!

IreneR · 04/06/2013 18:11

I'm definitely disappointed ... while oddly almost relieved (no Rafa-Fed beat-down this tourney!)

And I do like Tsonga, so it's quite nice for him. How delightful if he could go to the final!

Lottie, I don't post much here, so I'm out of the loop, but why are you obviously a Tsonga fan?

CremeEggThief · 04/06/2013 18:13

:(. I did say much earlier in the thread I was a bit worried Roger had peaked too early...

IreneR · 04/06/2013 18:21

(How do you suppose it will be for RF at Wimbledon?)

marjproops · 04/06/2013 18:24

RF is almost supreme at Wimbles altho Jo's beaten him there before.

Hopefully this year itll be a repeat of lastt years final but the winner reversed!

Frew McMillan commented about Rafa not getting warnings/penaltys for the time he takes to serve.

Djokos the same.

IreneR · 04/06/2013 18:28

Regarding the Wimbledon prognostication:

Cue Marge Simpson voice, muttering disapprovingly to marjproops, "Hmmmmmmmm......"

marjproops · 04/06/2013 18:51

What?

IreneR · 04/06/2013 19:03

I disagree with wanting Andy Murray to beat Roger Federer. So I disapprove of what you wrote. And I asked Marge Simpson to help me disapprove of what you said.

So much for my attempt at humor.

marjproops · 04/06/2013 19:17

oh okay. why dont people like Murray?

hes not the most jovial of chaps but hes the best player weve had since Perry, Hanman and Greg.

And he got a GS and a medal last year.

dont you think he should have the Wimble crown? Feds got more than enough!! Grin

and feds been beaten before at wimble before thefinal.

I do like Mrs Fed tho. pretty yet 'normal' and not all dolled up glamorous catwalk.

IreneR · 04/06/2013 19:35

Oh, I just like RF better -- I'm not a Murray-hater. I was really happy for him at the US Open last year.

And given the way the year's been going, it might as well be Murray at Wimbledon. If it can't be RF, I mean.

And I do agree about Mrs. Fed. I think she's lovely. I remember some MNetter saying last year that she had "a face like a slapped arse", which cracked me up. She's serious, all right, but so ... appropriate.

PetiteRaleuse · 04/06/2013 19:54

I love Murray. I have loved watching him mature as a player and stick it to all the haterz. He's refreshingly honest and humble, and great with children, really encouraging. Like his mum, who I also think is fab.
