Well, here we are again, another French Open. Yay ! Grin

It's a shame we wont see Murray, as he was playing very well, it would have been great to see the Top 5 'together' again.

No prizes for guessing who the favourite for the Mens is, VAMOS RAFA ! I'd love to see him win it for the 8th time.

Roger Fed is looking well, just started playing , it would be good to see him do well, although we all know Wimby is his best tournament.

Novak seemed to be struggling a bit earlier this year, after the Aussie Open win, it will be interesting to see how he fares this year on clay. Nicely set up so that he and Rafa will meet in the Semi's, should they both play well. Which easily leads to Rafa for the Final, and his 8th win ! Don't forget, Novak fans, that Rafa beat Nole in 4 sets last year. Wink

Serena Williams is looking her usual belting self, just thrashed her opponent, she must be a consideration for the win, as must last years winner, Maria Sharapova. I'd like to see Laura Robson do well, and Heather Watson, but realistically Laura could be out in the first round.

Hope everybody enjoys the tennis as much as I do, I'm going to have a great fortnight, 9:30am to 9:00pm everyday. Bliss !

Looking forward to having our usual daft threads running, along with the ogling and arguments. Here's to another great summer of tennis ! Wine

Hello All :). Monfils vs Berdych was my pick of today's matches. I predict it'll be much smoother in the next couple of rounds for Rafa.

Monfils was really promising a few years ago. Along with Gasquet, Simon and Tsonga the press referred to them as the Four Musketeers in France. It was accepted as a given that one of them would win Grand Slams. Ther was even a fly on the wall documentaty which followed them around for months on end. It's sad that Monfils has had so many problems with injury as he is talented (and pretty yum in RL). I hope Tsonga will do well though one of these days. He is so nice. And pretty yum too.

The dcs have re-claimed the tv,due to the rain meaning I can't banish them to the gardenGrin

Is it raining at RG? The website is showing no play til 12.30 (their time).

My pick of the day is Paire versus Baghdatis- Baghdatis is another who seemed destined to be a top 10 fixture, and then lost his way. Ilove watching him when he's on form- he is a fighter. And I was really impressed by Paire the other week. Plus, he's another Frenchman, so that should get the crowds going.

oh, Maryz- I love that picture.

Of course it's not as funny as the fabulous naked tennis players page you linked us to last year. That was brilliantGrin

PetiteRaleuse · 28/05/2013 13:15

Bartoli is amazingly irritating to watch. Am I alone in thinking that? Comes across as a nice person on interviews, but on court seems so fidgety and, erm, expressive.

magimedi · 28/05/2013 16:20

Bartoli drives me potty - can't bear watching her. Hoping she hurries up & it stays dry as am looking forward to the Novak v Gofin match.

Raahh · 28/05/2013 17:03

Bartoli looks like someone I wouldn't want to meet down a dark alley. I'm sure she's lovely inthe flesh, thoughGrin

I'm hoping the weather stays fine too- seems the multi-channel option on itv was only on the weekend.Sad.

Raahh · 28/05/2013 17:19

C'mon Govortsova!

Raahh · 28/05/2013 17:35

Ah, well. Well done Bartoli

I really hope we get to see some of the Baghdatis match.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/05/2013 17:46

I don't like watching her but I am glad she won.

magimedi · 28/05/2013 23:03

Did any one else watch the Novka/Gofin match?

I am a little bit in lurve with Gofin - he plays the game so beautifully! The touch, the skill without the power.

ThePavlovianCat · 29/05/2013 11:14

Anyone else watching the Watson match at the moment?

magi- I thought Goffin did well- with a bit more oomph, he might have proved dangerous. Novak clearly didn't want the match to drag on, thoughGrin

Not able to watch at the moment- school holidays are really not the best time to try and take over the tv, especially when the weather is rubbish Sad

I hope Watson does well- she lost her first set, but has a break in the second (thankyou, Roland Garros website)Grin

Raahh · 29/05/2013 16:47

I love getting to see so many players that ordinarily (at Wimbledon, for example) would probably be shuffled off to an outside court without cameras. Very spoiled by 2 Monfils matches, in the last few days, I must say!

ThePavlovianCat · 29/05/2013 17:07

I really hope Monfils wins this match. He comes across as such a nice guy.

Raahh · 29/05/2013 17:26

Yay! Go Monfils!!Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 29/05/2013 17:27

Yay!!

ThePavlovianCat · 29/05/2013 17:32

Who does he play in the next round?

Raahh · 29/05/2013 17:39

He plays Robredo, of Spain next,if I've read it right!

marjproops · 29/05/2013 18:21

Id love Monfils to win the whole thing. don't think he will but id love to see him make at least the semis.

yeh, Gofins got s lovely old fashioned style about him.

marjproops · 29/05/2013 21:46

Wish Wawrinka, Ferrer, and Verdasco would win a GS. They are such solid players and are soooo the 'nearly' men.

also in the womens, Id love Radwanska (careful with spelling there!!),Wosniaki,Watson and Mattek-sands to win a GS too.

CremeEggThief · 30/05/2013 13:57

Out of your list, the only one I'd say has an outside chance at winning a slam is Ferrer, here at Roland Garros, marj. If the big three (not counting Marray) have an off-day, he's got the talent, spirit and know-how.

Very disappointed with how Wozniacki's career is going, as she showed so much promise.

I was impressed with the way Stefanie Voegele played against Heather Watson yesterday, although I thought Heather played well given her circumstances, and the French girl who lost to Sam Stosur today looks promising for the future.

Fed was flawless yesterday, from what I saw of the highlights. Still in amazing shape at 31 :).

Looking forward to checking out Rafa later. Well, if the rain stops!
