Well, here we are again, another French Open. Yay ! Grin

It's a shame we wont see Murray, as he was playing very well, it would have been great to see the Top 5 'together' again.

No prizes for guessing who the favourite for the Mens is, VAMOS RAFA ! I'd love to see him win it for the 8th time.

Roger Fed is looking well, just started playing , it would be good to see him do well, although we all know Wimby is his best tournament.

Novak seemed to be struggling a bit earlier this year, after the Aussie Open win, it will be interesting to see how he fares this year on clay. Nicely set up so that he and Rafa will meet in the Semi's, should they both play well. Which easily leads to Rafa for the Final, and his 8th win ! Don't forget, Novak fans, that Rafa beat Nole in 4 sets last year. Wink

Serena Williams is looking her usual belting self, just thrashed her opponent, she must be a consideration for the win, as must last years winner, Maria Sharapova. I'd like to see Laura Robson do well, and Heather Watson, but realistically Laura could be out in the first round.

Hope everybody enjoys the tennis as much as I do, I'm going to have a great fortnight, 9:30am to 9:00pm everyday. Bliss !

Looking forward to having our usual daft threads running, along with the ogling and arguments. Here's to another great summer of tennis ! Wine

Well that wasn't too exciting. Still congrats ferrer, he looked so happy.
Vamos rafa!
See you Sunday

Raahh · 07/06/2013 19:32

Mama- VAMOS See you Sunday!

I'm hoping for a good one. Want a Rafa number 8, but want Ferrer to put up a fight. The king of clay, and the prince regentGrin

marjproops · 07/06/2013 19:33

thing is with Ferrer hes like the understudy like wawrinka is with the Fed.

and hell be psychologically negative as i think hes never beaten rafa?

i hope hell step up and at least give a good show, as he deserves it, but he may tank as stan does.

noddyholder · 07/06/2013 19:45

Love Ferrer!

marjproops · 07/06/2013 20:11

anyone watching on eurospert- am i the only one that boaks at the sickly-sweet tat of that advert with steffi and andre?

i know its about his foundation academy thing, its just the ham acting and stuff!

MrsVamosRAFA · 07/06/2013 21:28

Awww. Poor Tsonga. Don't know quite where he was today, just didn't go right for him, did it ?

Lovely for Ferrer, though.

I feel slightly sorry for him that you could tell that everyone is thinking "well done for getting into your first Grand Slam Final" although you know as well as we do you have no chance of winning.

Bless.

I predict Rafa wins for the 8th time, making history, in straight sets.

I watched the ITV4 replay thingy after the second semi. So much easier to watch knowing Rafa had won ! Blush

MrsV- just seen your prediction- probably spot on. I did feel sorry for Ferrer- I'm sure he'll put up a fight, but the final at RG is just Rafa's spiritual home. Ferrer isn't expected to win, which may work in his favour- Rafa's to lose, really. I really want it to be tight- I want a close 3 set, not a whitewash.

It was a very, very tense match- really did feel like I was watching the final. Could be Djoko's best chance lost?

No idea what happened to Tsonga- he had the crowd on his side, massive chances but just didn't seem to get going.

Not sure I'm fussed about the womens' final.Grin Too noisy.

Raahh · 08/06/2013 16:04

Well done Serena- first set a bit scrappy, with all the service breaks. Made Shrieky look a bit amateur.

Raahh · 08/06/2013 16:10

Will we get to see some doubles now?
I am a bitHmm as dh has decided to invite his brother for a barbeque- TOMORROW AFTERNOON! Angry

I am unimpressed. Grin

Raahh · 08/06/2013 16:18

They play the national anthem? have they always done that?

marjproops · 08/06/2013 18:43

just read Murrays asked Henman to help him prepeare for Wimbly....he might as well have asked Alex Bogdanovich.

oh dear oh dear ANdy, what are you doing, man?

Raahh · 09/06/2013 12:38

Right-I have prepared the bbq, I had my first glass of wine in 7 weeks last night, so that drinking this afternoon doesn't lave me under a table in 5 minutesGrin I am soooo excited for this afternoon. It was my dream scenario finalGrin

Not sure if I will get chance to post much, but a hearty
VAMOS to both- and

RAFA!RAFA!RAFA!
OCHO!OCHO!OCHO!

(apologies to any Spanish posters if that isn't the word for 8, 6 year old dd1 told meGrin)

Raahh · 09/06/2013 13:10

And why aren't they showing the women's doubles final?HmmAngry
I want Sara Errani to win, to make up for her thrashing the other day!

Raahh · 09/06/2013 13:11

And I've just seen the results Blush - seems they lost.

must read schedule more carefully

IreneR · 09/06/2013 13:27

Raahh: regarding the ocho! thing: that is so cute.

I'm going to put my cards on the table here, and risk the permanent wrath of many. I'd love Ferrer to win. I'm in the mood for a Cinderella story.

Too early for wine at my end; NBC calls their coverage "Breakfast at the French Open." Coffee and croissants, anyone?

Raahh · 09/06/2013 13:33

marj Coffee and croissants sounds lovely.Grin

I am of course Team Rafa- but for once I can honestly say that if he loses, I can't think of a better player he could lose his crown to- and he probably feels the same. It's one of the more relaxed finals I've watched in a while-unlike the semi, which was nail biting.

Raahh · 09/06/2013 13:34

sorry Irene- see, I'm not reading anything properly!!

GlaikitFizzog · 09/06/2013 14:03

Hello! I've been rubbish so far in getting on the threads, work boo!

But I am here, avoiding the sun after missing a bit with the factor 50 yesterday.

I'm split on who to cheer for, I just want a good match of exciting tennis.

Vamos!

Chubfuddler · 09/06/2013 14:06

This is a fab warm up. Ferrer looks incredibly relaxed - perhaps he feels the pressure is off as no one really expects him to win, even though nadal is only fairly recently back on the circuit.

Genuinely don't mind who wins but looking forward to some great tennis.

Raahh · 09/06/2013 14:11

I'm just hoping I get to watch- I mean, I like my BIL and all, but I'd rather watch the tennisGrin

But, it was either a bbq for him today, or Wimbledon final Sunday!Shock - sometimes, I think dh is on a different planetGrin

Startail · 09/06/2013 14:13

raahh, I too have visitors due at 3, so I'm only going to get a few balls, before I swap to recording it.

Chubfuddler · 09/06/2013 14:41

Is no one watching?

It's pretty even isn't it?

purpleprincess · 09/06/2013 14:44

Yes I'm watching ...while ironing. It's fine as long as you iron between points or whole Rafa is bouncing the ball! Vamos Rafa. Think he will win although Ferrer may test him bit more....

IreneR · 09/06/2013 14:48

I'm watching, and I'm enjoying the fine tennis. Vamos, y'all.

purpleprincess · 09/06/2013 14:52

Watching on itv as it is HD can see how sweaty Rafa is! Makes in realise how good BBC coverage is! Rafa warming up nicely now!😁
