The old thread is nearly full. Nice new shiny thread here.

Zukie I am with you, I think is truly awful what Tommy and Tina are doing. Regardless of what I think of izzy and co!

Funny how Rita was raging with Tina one minute then offering her a safe haven the next!!

Karl is doing my tree in! Ok Corrie we get it, Karl is worried that dev might find the truth, stop showing us karls 'worried face' everytime dev does a bit of digging!

Funny, when 'karl' was in Taggart I fancied him but now in Corrie he makes my skin crawl!!!

I think Tommy was saying that to make it hit home what Tina had done, I dont think he agrees with it fully, just supporting Tina?

Who would get the rights if it was taken to court? Did they use Izzy's egg and Gary's sperm so the baby is genetically theirs? Or was it Tina's egg?

Sorry to hijack thread Blush

Sleepyfergus · 10/06/2013 22:17

Is it me or does Maria have a 'tash? Either that or it was very unfortunate lighting in the salon/ bistro. Would explain a lot! I just cannot care about either if them, such woeful, boring characters.

What Tina is doing is terrible. I used to like her character, but I'm going off her. However, I just cannot stand Gary and Izzy. The script writers have not endeared me to them whatsoever. Even when Izzy was crying in the street. Nothing. I did think the bit when Tina held Jake for the first time was quite moving, my womb twanged!!

Dev - yawn!! The pacing and counting steps in the ginnel was hilarious. But agree with whoever up thread said about it being v tiring that Karl happens to be about everything Devcule Poirot fits another piece of the jigsaw together. And I too used to fancy Karl in Taggart, but find him loathsome in Corrie.

And double arf at No 1 this evening. First, Peter and Carla trying to look cosied up on that funny half wood, truncated 'sofa'. Impossible! And Then Tracy trying to do her cold calling. Classic. I do think they should tee up Deirdre to be a Blanche like character. What will they do about Ken? I honestly can't see him coming back now, regardless what happens after his trial. I like the idea of him dropping dead in the library, sort of fitting for his character.

And lastly....the front room is Amy's! Who knew??!

Pidgeroo - it was Izzy's egg and Gary's yuck sperm. So genetically it's there's. I find it a bit odd that Tina wants to keep the baby given those circumstances. Haven't a scooby what happens legally. I guess it happens though.....

OP posts:
heghog · 10/06/2013 23:06

legally it is Tina's. and i am betting genetically also which will come out when they go to court which will of course take weeks and not the years it takes in rl.

doesn't rita look fierce when cross though.

and in rl no one would let a childless woman who has had an abortion go through surrogate pg cos guess what they might not realise what is involved.

heghog · 10/06/2013 23:10

watched a terrible thing yrs ago about a surrogate on US. conceived twins and the couple said she had to get rid of one. she refused. when they were born she wanted to keep them so the genetic father took her to court to stop her but not so he could have them but to put them into care Shock

ClartyCarol · 10/06/2013 23:44

Who on earth would want to keep the spawn of Gary when you could make your very own baby with the delicious Tommy?

Fergus - I also sniggered at Peter and Carla scrunched up awkwardly on that church pew of a sofa, he practically had her in a half Nelson.

Poor Maria, I know what you mean, I don't think she is particularly hirsute but there is sometimes an unfortunate shadow there. She's still bloody gorgeous though. Anybody fancy sharing spoilers about the movement afoot? I think Eileen is set to become a pill head.

whatkungfuthat · 11/06/2013 07:36

I looked at the Digital Spy spoilers for next week, better not post them here but in true Corrie style it looks like they are changing storylines again.

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/06/2013 08:44

Lol @ church pew- it did look so awkward!

Also yes Maria has a 'tash, I've always noticed it and puts me off what she's saying!

I use to like Tina but after all this baby stuff I think it's put her in a really bad light. I don't like Gary/ Izzy but don't think they should have their baby taken away regardless of what the law says about it being Tina's.
I know how excited I was when preg with both my dcs, buying all the stuff, tiny clothes etc and then to be told you're not getting your baby after all :(

Unfortunately this means lots more of Izzy's crying face.

Bakingnovice · 11/06/2013 10:29

After decades of loyalty I switched off weeks ago. I just cannot bear it. Even my former fave characters are ruined by bad storylines and partners: hate Eileen and her new bloke and stupid stupid sleep story; Steves character gets nothing meaty and partnering him with god awful Michelle was a terrible move; liked Carla till they put her with Peter; Lloyd and Mandy are terrible. Gail used to be a strong matriarch. Now she's a parody of a gormless annoying idiot.

FFs then we have terrible awful characters like izzy, Owen, Anna, Faye, Tom, Maria, Marcus, st Ella, sofi, jenna, Karl Eva. I feel nothing for any of them so don't care if they lose their business/ home/ baby.

I'm glad dev is trying to get to the truth but does he really need to carry an old newspaper and wear a trench coat in true poirot style? And Karl hovering every time dev is on screen is bizarre. This is not a theatre production! And I'm sick to the back teeth of Tracy and rob. Dire dire dire in every way. I catch about one episode a week if that and usually switch off quickly.

carabos · 11/06/2013 12:12

The whole thing has become like a spoof of itself. Tina deciding to keep the baby and thinking that all that's involved in that is to tell the biological parents to get lost .

Marcus and Maria - just Shock. That doesn't stand up to scrutiny for a millisecond and I don't like the sub-text (he hadn't found the right girl).

Karl - Christ. In Corrie world normally stories take about three episodes to work through - this one is going on till flipping Xmas. It's got more red herrings than a North Sea trawler.

The missing persons - all the children; Emily; Julie; Kev; Ken; Kev's dad and Aunty Pam - some explained, some not.

I'd like to see a proper exposition of the surrogacy issues with accurate reference to the law of this land not Corrie land. I'd like all the extraneous characters to be sensibly wiped out - that's all of St Ella's lot, Mandy and Jenna, most of the Windasses (not Gary though - he's got potential), Michelle, Tracy, Nick and Leanne, Ryan and Katie...

I could stop watching it I suppose Grin.

Eileen And her stupid fireman. Wish she would just shut the fuck up about his job and him dying. Chance'd be a fine thing. I've never known a more pointless story. They obviously saw Sharon addicted to pills and decided to copy. Every single bloody plot line with these two has been terrible: the wife, her Alzheimer's, wife moving in, the bizarre threesome, the wife's death, Eileen's gormless face, firemans gappy mouth face. It gives me the absolute rage. And I used to love Eileen.

JessicaBeatriceFletcher · 11/06/2013 14:48

I'm worried about Emily. We've hardly seen her all year. I wonder if Eileen Derbyshire is unwell. I do hope not, Emily has always been a favourite by being 'normal' and the sort of person every street has one of. And being the only person who can give Tracy a mouthful and leave her speechless. With Eileen being very, very private, we'd probably not hear about her being ill as we did with Betty Driver and Maggie Jones.

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/06/2013 15:20

I quite liked the fireman's wife having Alzheimer's storyline but the way they killed her off was odd and it's gone dramatically downhill since then. I thought the actress who played his wife was v good.

JessicaBeatriceFletcher · 11/06/2013 15:32

Barbara used to live not too far from me on the Gloucestershire/Warwickshire border. Nice lady, also quite publicity shy.

Just seen Emily is going to be in again according to Digital Spy. Phew.

Slippysnow · 11/06/2013 16:38

I've been lurking, but also thinking about how they would write ken out whilst being sensitive if he is actually found guilty (I think he probably will). Writers have got a really hard job, he's been in it for such a long time that he can't just be forgotten by everyone, a funeral to honour his character would be on a large scale on the street (undeserved for his boring, loathsome character) so if they killed him off (if found guilty) would be distasteful.

I think whoever said jumping back on the barge with Marge or whatever her name is hit the nail on the head. That way he stays true to his cheating character and no one will be upset about him leaving, deidre would be so used to him!

No idea about Kevin, maybe he just never returns.

CatherineofMumbles · 11/06/2013 17:17

I don't see why they shouldn't have a funeral for Ken - even if the actor is found guilty (which we should not presume or speculate about) - the character is separate from the actor. The actor never needs to appear again, but that should not prevent a funeral for the character.

ProfYaffle · 11/06/2013 18:04

Even my 9yo dd is getting really frustrated with the slow, repetitive storylines. I'm desperately trying to indoctrinate her into CS but it's not easy atm.

buzzgirly · 11/06/2013 19:17

I think they should get rid of Ken either way, I haven't even noticed that he's not been on screen. Tbh since he made this claims about sleeping with a huge number of women I've been waiting for him to get the boot. About time too!

I've never been struck on Tina, but am warning to her with this storyline. The scene when she told Izzy last night that she loves the baby was really good.

qazxc · 11/06/2013 21:27

Why is everyone being so sneery at Tracy's new job? Is telesales so far below shoving knickers in boxes at the factory?

Wishfulmakeupping · 12/06/2013 13:29

I'm really struggling to watch it at the min and I love corrie's but its daft and quite cruel with this baby business hard to watch. Hope it gets better its the only soap I watch

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/06/2013 13:54

I'm sticking with it but get frustrated. They've already done prescription drug addiction with Tina's dad, hope they don't do it again.

I think Gary and Izzi should get Jake, it would be unspeakably cruel of Tina to keep him. I prefer Tina to Izzi as a character though. Just want the Carl/Dev thing to be over.
