The book was set partly in Whitby ....don't think the tv adaptation is.

Also think it's 3 different stories over the next three weeks.

Oh I love Jackson!!

Victoria Wood as Tracy seems like great casting.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 19/05/2013 20:35

Reeces peanut butter cups, blanket, Jackson Brodie.........oh yes Wink

Lighthousekeeping · 19/05/2013 20:39

Why didn't we like the last one though? I remember we were really disappointed with it.

Snugglepiggy · 19/05/2013 21:53

Loved the books but can't put my finger on why Amanda Abbingdon grates on me as Louisa Monroe ? I like her well enough as an actress ,but not in this.Is it the accent ,surely they could have cast a Scottish actress for the part ? Felt the same last time.Jason Issacs is just perfect as Jackson though IMO.

LadyBeagleEyes · 19/05/2013 22:53

I enjoyed it.
It was all a bit confusing but all the pieces fitted in at the end, a bit like the book.

Lighthousekeeping · 19/05/2013 23:07

I can't recall the book at all. I think I must be easily confused. Is Jackson the one who was going out with an actress who performed at the Edinburgh festival? Julia I think she was. Has that one been shown before or have completely lost he plot?

HeavenlyYoni · 19/05/2013 23:10

So that was the adaptation of 'started early took my dog'. The next episode I don't recall so maybe newly written for the series?

OP posts:
Lighthousekeeping · 19/05/2013 23:13

Have no idea I'm going to have to google the last series.

Witco · 20/05/2013 09:41

Victoria Wood was brilliant, really enjoyed it.

decaffwithcream · 20/05/2013 19:32

That was the second book Lighthouse, they have basically adapted the first 3 books last series and the 4th one was last night. So they have run out of books now. Grin

Am very surprised that the TV series is going ahead of the books. I would definitely prefer to read the books first but in the absence of any books atm I'll be happy to watch Jason Isaacs. He really is perfectly Jackson.

Kate Atkinson had said she was working on the next Jackson but then her other "Life After Life" book came out instead - did she do the plot for these next 2 or has she handed over Jackson to the TV writers? He is hardly going to go in two different directions on screen and in print? (all that stuff about Marlee coming to live with him?). I would love to know what's going on!

Catmint · 20/05/2013 19:33

Had no idea this was coming. Great news, thanks for the update.

So excited!
