can anyone explain the running order that Channel 4 uses for Frazier? it's my guilty pleasure, especially as I didn't watch it first time around. anyway, last week Niles and Daphne had just got together. this morning I settle down with a coffee, and realize I'm watching the final episode, and Niles and Daphne have a baby. it looks as though I'll just have to get the boxed set.

Oh yes, Eddie Grin The way he always used to stare at Frasier.

And jump on the sofa when he left the room.

Wasn't his real name Moose? What a great name

marjproops · 20/04/2013 21:29

Yes Mosse. he was so adorable and expressive.

marjproops · 20/04/2013 21:29

sorry, MOOSE. darn typos again!

montage · 21/04/2013 19:31

You don't really want to know what happens in the last episode Lollilou, it's action-packed and there's a surprise at the very end. Watch it on you tube Get the boxset and enjoy it all.

montage · 21/04/2013 19:35

Moose has his own wiki page Grin

It claims that David Hyde Pierce's husband wrote the "autobiography" of Moose and explains that Moose's son took over in Season 8. That bit was also in the Frasier documentary but I can never tell when "Eddie" changes.

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 21/04/2013 22:01

You can tell Enzo apart from Miose (Enzo is the other Eddie, Moose's son) because he's taller, skinnier, browner (as in more brown and less white) and his fur is shorter and smoother than Moose's. He doesn't have Moose's beard. Also a bit sprightlier.

I, too, am a Frasier addict and watch it every day. I think my face episodes are:

The Ski Lodge (Guy is brilliant! Daphne's friend - not so much)
A Word to the Wise Guy (Where they get a mobster to help Maris out - but he wants the favour returned).

The episode where Frasier dates the woman who looks like his mum, and the other episode where he dates the model (Kelly Easterbrook - the lotion girl!) but no one believes him.

Too many good ones, although I feel from series 8 onwards the quality drops significantly and they get pretty dire at times. Plus they forgot the programme was a comedy at times- the episode where Nikes had heart surgery - wtf was that??! No need for the storyline at all, needlessly depressing.

The episode with Nike/Daphne thinking Roz wanted a threesome was pretty cringily contrived and unfunny too.

And I loathed Cam Winston, Daphne's mum, Lana/Lorna Linnley (she looks so much like Kim Cattrell!) and Laura Linney's character in series 11.

And breathe.

I get angry because it was ace at its height, you see, but lost it towards the last few series.

So I'll end with: "What the Hell was that, I've been vaccinated slower!"

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 21/04/2013 22:02

Not sure why my phone insists on autocorrecting Niles to Nikes...

Chipstick10 · 21/04/2013 22:10

I couldn't watch it once niles and daph got together. It was so cringe. Especially daph. She lost all her charm it was yuk. And why did they put Martin with ronnie.? Horrid, they didn't suit. He was suited to sherry much more.

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 21/04/2013 22:13

Yy to sherry being better than Ronnie!!!!! Oh I hated her! It stank of 'Ok, the show's coming to an end soon - better hook Martin up with someone." Then they forgot to write the plot until the day before.

montage · 21/04/2013 22:22

It was a shame what happened to Daphne's character after she got together with Niles. Apart from that (and Daphne's mother and brothers and father) I'm ok with most of later seasons. They are never in the same league of the early stuff when the dialogue was sparkling, but I enjoy most of them.

(with a few obvious strange exceptions). there is always Niles who remains exceptional.

With the boxset you can make your own themed marathons - I like to watch all the ones where Lillith appears.

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 21/04/2013 22:28

Or all the ones with Bebe in them - Niles has some particularly good lines about her!

Chipstick10 · 21/04/2013 22:30

It seems that niles was most people's fav but Frasier was defo mine. Ooh I'd forgotten daphs awful family, another reason not to watch the later episodes.

PseudoBadger · 21/04/2013 22:30

"I would've assumed she killed after mating" :o

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 21/04/2013 22:40

"Lady Macbeth but without the sincerity." :D

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 21/04/2013 23:40

And who amongst us has never sung along to this classic:

"Flesh is burning, nuh nuh nuh nuh nuuuh nuh,
Flesh is burning, nuh nuh nuh nuh nuuuh nuh."

marjproops · 22/04/2013 16:53

MMA yy to cam winston. i couldnt sit through those episodes. Daphnes mum was okay i thhink, annoying but watcheable, smae about Lana/kim catrall, spot on there, mean. and same with Laura linneys character too.

and i preffered sherry too to ronnie. she was annoying and you're right abut the plot with her and Martin.

Bulldog was annoying and funny at the same time.

love Noel and (gone blank on his name) the posh effeminate one who does the food show. Gill, is it?

the episode where theyre on the cruise ship with Maris and 'the barracuda'. another good one.

PseudoBadger · 22/04/2013 17:21

"Dad, wait! The mud pie's coming!"

montage · 22/04/2013 19:11

That still goes through my head at random times MeanandMeasly!

The Cam Winston episode where he unleashes his flag during Frasier's patriotic speech is excellent

Niles: "How did you do that?"

I also like the scene where it transpires that Gil is actually married to a woman

(Roz: "I've never seen anyone in themselves before")

Niles/Bebe, Niles/Roz in the early years and Niles/Lilith are all great

"I learned that if you kiss her too fast, you get an ice-cream headache"

Actually the one after Niles sleeps with Lillith is classic

"My God!"
"My Goddess!"

And the episode where Niles and Roz pretend to be together is very funny.

montage · 22/04/2013 19:13

Does anyone else get annoyed when lines get ommited at 9 in the morning on Channel 4?

I know they do it seamlessly and I get that it's pre-watershed but poor Roz gets disproportionately censored!

JennyFromTheB0g · 22/04/2013 19:24

re daphne's brothers' accents, did anybody see bridesmaids? there were a brother and sister in it and one was english and the other was australian but they were both supposed to me english. I was thinking, is this an extra joke? do the americans get it?

montage · 22/04/2013 20:12

Daphne's aussie brother was supposed to be cast with such a bad english accent as a joke because of all the criticism the show had had about accents, wasn't he?

When she did HIGNFY her actual accent was quite a surprise.

ChasedByBees · 22/04/2013 22:11

I love the episode where Frasier is putting on a radio show and Niles has to do about 4 of the parts. Excellent!

MeanAndMeaslyMiddleAges · 22/04/2013 22:31

Ham Radio! I actually quoted that this evening at a rehearsal for a play I'm in - went to the loo while we were editing the script and came back to find some of my lines had been cut. I said "As long as I've still got that marvellous speech about my boyhood in Surrey - rrrromping through the fens and spinneys..."

Looked at me like I was mad, they did.

Lighthousekeeping · 23/04/2013 08:59

Looking back its unbelievable that he was off his face for most of the time.

ChasedByBees · 23/04/2013 11:35

I would have got that reference M&M :)
