OK I haven't watched it yet but will do tonight so let's start on all the spoiler-y comments!

Poor Daryl. I'll miss Merle's character. He was a great antagonist and the actor who plays him is a joy to watch.

And yes, I think the Governor shot him in the chest on purpose. A shot in the head is a mercy killing to him and he wasn't going to show Merle any mercy. He wasn't in a situation where he could prolong the agony so the next best thing is to condemn him to walkerhood.

Finding it hard to care what happens to Andrea but I imagine she'll end up back in the prison crew for season 4.

I just watched it last night and cried so hard! (I'd had a shitty day and am awash with pregnancy hormones, but still...) I'm in America but don't have a TV so I wait and buy them on Amazon.

They actually made me like Merle that episode (I loved his interactions with Michonne and Carol) and then...oh, poor Daryl!

I will comfort him if need be. I'm willing to make that sacrifice.

I think because of the things she said. I thought she diffused the situation admirably. Also I think Merle, racist awful bastard though he was, would have a hard time actually hurting a woman. When the governor said he was going to "talk" to Maggie in a previous episode, Merle looked distinctly uncomfortable.

Oh oh oh I'm watching it today! Did I miss something? I thought they had decided not to take michone to the governor?

I said on the other thread that I loved the exchange between carol and merle about being a late bloomer.

I'm only at the first break but I'm sure this is the most we've heard daryl speak all season. He manages to look so vulnerable and confused when talking to merle and he really didn't like the comparison between merle and Glenn and maggie and rick and michone.

Merle knew Rick would change his mind about sending Michonne to the Governor (and he did) so he took her himself in hopes that the Governor would give them some time. He wanted to protect Daryl.

I've just watched this online. Wow!! Didn't feel like the end of a series though. Felt more like the end of a show. Glad the governor has signed up for season 4. It should take off where season 3 ended.

So disappointed in that season finale - last weeks episode with Darryl and Merle was much better.

I agree that it didn't feel like a finale but it did tie up a few loose ends while leaving plenty wide open for S4.

Poor Milton. I really liked his character. And I liked that he retained his decency to the end. He didn't go the power hungry, blood thirsty way of the Governor.

Andrea. Meh. If she'd spent a bit more time getting the pliers and a bit less time gassing, she'd have got out of there alive. Or if she'd knifed the Governor when she had the chance...However, her final scene with Michonne was well done. I almost shed a tear but that was more at Michonne's reaction than mourning the loss of Andrea.

Nice to see Rick's moral compass pointing back in the right direction. It'll be interesting to see the conflict between him and Carl as Carl becomes more and more affected by growing up in a ZA. His speech about killing the Woodbury kid to stop him killing one of them was exactly what the Governor said, wasn't it? Kill or be killed.

And why, oh why did Martinez not put a few rounds in the Governor's back when he had the chance? Neither he nor the other guy looked particularly thrilled at embarking on a road trip with the psycho so why didn't they just kill him? I guess we'll find out in S4.

I so would have shot the governor when he started shooting the "soldiers". I certainly wouldn't have got into the car with him afterwards

I'm waiting until they all come out on blue-ray while DW is out I can have me time. have watched series1. fantastic. I'm a huge zombie fan and series 1 didn't disappoint.

Series 2 can be a bit slow but that is only my opinion.

Series 3 however was a blinder from the beginning. Again just my opinion
