Haven't watched neighbours since being a teen, but recognise most of these names!

Also, as an Aussie, can I tell you that home births are quite rare, at least, nothing like they as over here, at least they weren't seven and five years ago when I had my boys. Almost unheard of. I did not know a single person to have one and it is not offered as an option routinely like here.

Also, cloth nappies are huge in Oz, although only available to buy online. (Again, unless they have changed in the few years I have been in the uk. Quite possible! I sourced all my cloths from the Internet as could not buy any locally.)
And if you want disposable nappies in hospital you have to bring your own. They only provide cloth. They also do not provide formula routinely as they expect everyone to breast feed.

Anyway, massive tangent but thought I would explain the wierd oz hospital practises! :)

Oh, and there is a linen bin for the cloth nappies and they whisk the, away and wash them for you!

Can I join?
Been a lurker for a while but I love neighbours.
I don't really like Rhys, I kinda wish he would bugger off and let Vanessa and Lucas get together. Has anyone read the spoilers? What's wrong with the baby?

Always room for another one on the couch, readyforno2.

I haven't read any of the spoilers, but I am guessing heart problems.

The straight forward birth just had to lead to complication for the baby later,no one gets off Scott free in soap land!

I love the way only in neighbours the same 2 Drs treat everyone, isn't it unethical to treat a close friend Hmm, and they deal with all aspects of medicine from the same hospital bed!

And lawyer! Toadie has so far defended all his neighbours and his girlfriend. Surely that can't be allowed!

I was quite glad that they both still had a bit of tummy bump after just giving birth, not gone back to flat straight away as in lots of soaps.

Sonya may have been reluctant to go to Erinsborough General in particular - they weren't exactly great with the obs.

Susan and Carmel had gone home, cooked dinner/gotten takeaway and had the ooportunity to discuss the etiquette of one's husband hitting on the other, before anyone twigged that Sonya was unconscious rather than asleep - and it was Toadie that twigged first in the end.

I liked that too cecy, much more realistic. I hate it when soap mums go home with miraculously flat stomachs.

Did you notice how Patrick was sometimes in an isolette and sometimes in a basinette today? Or how, when he was lying in the basinette, swaddled up to the eyebrows, with not a wire in sight, the ECG was still beeping!

I couldn't believe Rhys - "your brand new baby may need heart surgery but don't think about, let's plan our wedding instead!' Really?

And also, would they really make a tiny baby go for tests without a parent? I have no experience of this but surely that can't be true Hmm

(I'm getting way too invested in this storyline aren't I? Wink)

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 16/02/2013 11:02

We were with our DD all through each test with her hole in the heart. It was an exhausting day on many levels.
And yeah, even Rhy's character wouldn't be that insensitive!!

Report
SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/02/2013 15:58

Oh I don't know - I think Rhys could be that insensitive. And Vanessa is far too good for him and should marry Lucas.

I was a bit surprised that Sonya was able to leave Nell for quite some time, and Toadie could take her into the office - how is she being fed? I assume that a desire to breastfeed would accompany Sonya's desire for as natural as possible a birth at home, but there's been no indication of anyone feeding Nell yet - or at least, not since Toadie and Callum had to, whilst Sonya was in surgery.

ShipwreckedAndComatose · 16/02/2013 16:51

Lol!

'Your baby needs an op and to take your mind off it, let's plan our wedding!'

I believe there is a Sonya breastfeeding in public storyline coming up which did make me wonder about the surgery time too!

Report
PuffPants · 16/02/2013 18:29

Sonya does seen to be having plenty of me time for a brand-new mother!

I would have assumed Nell would have had to be formula fed while Sonya was in hospital - surely it's not easy to start bfing after a few days? Obviously I don't know this for sure!

So glad Vanessa ditched Rhys. I do think he loved her but it's too complicated and I think she should give Lucas a chance - or just be co-parents for a while without others in the way.

Baby Patrick is gorgeous.

Grr - the whole baby Nell storyline is driving me bonkers. Sonja hasn't really been near the baby instead we get 'comedy' moments with Toadie and Calum looking after the baby. Was anyone else screaming at the tv for them just pick the baby up when they trying to stop her crying and ho ho ho she likes country music. And let me take a baby into the office instead of just dropping her off with sonja at the doctors or anyone else in the road Hmm
And Vanessa and Lucas - oh yes please take our newborn baby off for 'tests' without asking what they were for or if they could come as well - good grief..
And AJ?? Who does a job like a lawyer just because he wanted to support his family - and oh yes let me quit on a whim. Don't get me started on the whole Pria/Paul thing..
I think I have way too much invested in this programme...

scrappy I've been watching Neighbours for ages. I just accept and move on!

SDT I completely agree that Rhys does not deserve Vanessa. I think Lucas and Vanessa will start exchanging loving glances soon :) Like I said above - Neighbours isn't great with the technicalities! There is a breastfeeding in public storyline coming up this week so we'll see what they do with that.

Have to agree I really don't like Rhys. Just catching up now.
I don't really get how the breast feeding thing is going to work.. You never see her being fed. Also, she is huge for a baby who is meant to be a week old.
Ajay is such a wet blanket. He's so boring. I guess they're leaving so the new family can move it there.
