The1st signal for them to leave the memorial comes from Carrie. I watched that bit again earlier and she makes the 1st signal a split 2nd before he nods to her to go. Hmm It gets weirder and weirder...

Hmm, DP has pointed out that Carrie and Brodie, although near to the car, we're about six storeys up, so maybe that's why they were out of the blast zone? Any physicists about?

I think they were on the opposite side of the blast i.e. the main thrust of the blast was aimed away from where they were and they got the 'back blast'. I've no idea if that is the correct terminology but kind of explains what I mean.

Interesting discussion about the keys here...and on rewatching, I'd say that Carrie instigates the bunking off for a a quickie, rather than Brodie.

But, up in the office they go to for their private moment, Brodie is looking well shifty, and inexplicably glancing towards the window as though he is expecting something. Oooooooh...

Brody would want to die a martyr for a big event. Maybe there are bigger plans for him (series 3 without him would be hard).

Just watching again and I think Saul is not the mole. His reaction to Carrie being unaccounted for is telling.

Perhaps Estes wanted Brody to be killed because he was the mole so knew that Brody was working for the CIA. Estes could have moved the car and sacrificed himself.

Brody could have asked Mike to look after his family as he knew what was going to happen. He told Dana about the vest because he knew that she was about to find out anyway. He was going to sacrifice himself but changed his mind when Carrie signalled for them to leave.
Did he know that Carrie was going to be there?

On the subject of the mole, I think it's a bit of a red herring. An organisation that big could be leaking like a sieve; I don't think that there is necessarily any one mastermind behind it. Roya was a political journalist with contacts she could have cultivated, and there might be several others like her: people who pick up bits and pieces here and there, perhaps from operatives or support staff (those typists who 'redact' the documents?) etc, who don't even understand the importance of the information they might be giving away. So we could be groping in the dark really for any one Mr or Ms Big.
