Just starting a new thread before tonight's elimination, as I'm sure we'll all have something to say about that.

I missed it and will likely miss the results show too because of picking up children from various places. :(

I think Michael or Lisa should go this week.

franklyidontgiveadamn · 02/12/2012 10:49

Ah that'll be why ppeat - I can't really get into STT now it's Zoe Ball, she's the equivalent of DVO imo, professional and looks the part but no real humour or likeability (ok I know that's not a real word but it's sunday morning and my brain won't work).

Not sure what happened with DVO and james, perhaps by this stage the proffs are starting to run out of ideas for new moves. I thought James claimed responsibility in order to deflect criticism away from Denise which is sweet but i don't think enough to win any more votes.

The judges are getting right on my nerves - Craig seems much less honest than he used to be and more swayed by the audience, Len just tells everyone 'well done' and Darcy's voice is sooo grating I can't listen to what she says. Bruno is the only decent judge - he's very funny and his comments are right on the nail.

digerd · 02/12/2012 10:58

Frankly
My opinion too.
Arlene was always honest, but kind.

digerd · 02/12/2012 11:14

Babas
Big grin face at DVO ending with her face on Jame's crotch - didn't notice that.
Only that her dancing was very inconsistent, but then James said he went blank at one point which threw them both off.

Wonder if she is prgn?

digerd · 02/12/2012 11:17

I like Zoe and she's a much better dancer than Claudia - Len used to be impatient with her on the dance instruction.

LittleMissFlustered · 02/12/2012 11:27

Michael to go, if not please get rid of Nicky or that sodding Kimberley!

We love Dani and Louis chez Flustered:)

franklyidontgiveadamn · 02/12/2012 11:28

Digerd I missed the season where Zoe was dancing so perhaps I would have liked her more if I'd seen it but I really like Claudia's daffy sense of humour and I think she created a more fun atmosphere in STT.

AndiMac · 02/12/2012 11:34

I only got into ITT when Zoe was hosting it. I think Claudia's daffiness 5 days a week might have driven me a bit mad. I love her in short snippets or once a week, but not every day.

In news somewhere last week, it said that this was DVOs last fling with show biz as she intends to retire to focus on her family, so maybe pg.

Minimammoth · 02/12/2012 11:41

Although I would not be doing the splits much if I was pg.

ppeatfruit · 02/12/2012 12:25

It's true to an extent about the judges; Craig always looks acts so glum when he tells the truth, he could be kind too. But I like Darcey a lot she tells the truth; always tries to give constructive, positive advice with the negative.

I agree about Bruno; he's great. Len is sometimes alright and sometimes surprisingly wrong IMHO of courseGrin

Arlene could take B.F.'s place!!

franklyidontgiveadamn · 02/12/2012 12:33

Basil Brush could take B.F.'s place and no-one would notice...Grin

TheSmallClanger · 02/12/2012 12:35

DVO was over-marked despite making very obvious cock-ups. The voting knives may come out now. I liked her dance last week, but this week's was raggedy and too stop-starty.

I agree with everyone saying that Lisa has reached her limit. She isn't that great at ballroom, Robin's choreography relied too much on gimmicks again and her timing was off in parts. She is vulnerable now.

I really enjoyed Kimberly's jive. It was a bit messy in parts, but the kicks and the bits in hold were really good. Helped by a good music choice.

Nicky was better than usual, but the judges were correct in their criticism - too stompy and grabby and not fluid enough. His footwork was very good when he was on his own.

Dani and Vincent I'm not sure about. He has used that music for the V-Waltz before, with a similar routine iirc, and the judges slaughtered him for not putting enough proper content in. He got away with it this time. Dani is a good dancer, but I found the music and choreography cheesy and off-putting.

Michael will probably go. As lovely as Natalie is, he is easily the least able dancer left it, and his latin hip action is quite unpleasant to watch sometimes. Did anyone else notice he nearly fell over near the end of his routine?

Louis and Flavia have obviously been watching some competition Charleston videos - their routine had lots of Charleston steps, using the swing dance hold as well as side-by-side. Acrobatics fit better into this dance than all the upside down lifts that we normally see on Strictly - that throw lift is also a bona fide swing move. Great job.

digerd · 02/12/2012 12:43

Clanger
Yes, my heart was in my mouth as Natalie did a lovely low back bend and he lost his balance and nearly fell forwards.
He took many shifty steps and tensed up to save them both - it could have been a nasty accident, with Nat hitting her head on the floor with him on top of her. I bet that scared him. Nat probably had to recover from her backbend herself without his help.

PuffPants · 02/12/2012 14:05

DVO really reminded me of Penny in Dirty Dancing this week, the hair and the skirt flapping - I'm sure they took some moves from it too! Politics aside, she's a lovely dancer.

Louis to win for me.

ilovesooty · 02/12/2012 15:24

Ilovesooty do you really think there is a "plan" ? I'm not sure they're organised enough for that

I certainly do. I think Louis' journey to the glitterball has been carefully managed from the beginning.

ppeatfruit · 02/12/2012 15:44

Nooh the beeb have had their fingers burned so many times with minor infringements like saying something's live when it isn't to go in for a biggie like that. Unless you have evidence of course ilovesooty

WhatTheFookIsGangnamStyle · 02/12/2012 15:51

Lisa to go please. It's like watching Shrek in a dress whenever she dances.

digerd · 02/12/2012 16:12

Oh dear, if Michael is in the dance off, I shall be fearing the bit where he nearly fell on Nat in her backbend when lost his balance. < scared face>

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 02/12/2012 17:03

Grin at 'It's like watching Shrek in a dress'.

ilovesooty · 02/12/2012 17:23

If you look on the Digital Spy forum you'll find I'm by no means the only one who thinks so.

And of course the BBC still persist in the fiction of the results show going out live on a Sunday...

annaje · 02/12/2012 17:26

Louis was fantastic - deserved 4 10's IMO.
DVO is too skinny and bony for the salsa - you really look better with some curves like Kimberley.
Michael has too go - that was shocking Shock
Kimberley was good, I just don't think the pubic are behind her enough - same as Nicky
Lisa was awful - the footwork is dreadful
Nicky is just Meh - although he has improved ALOT
i like Dani - thought she deserved better marks than that

The marking has been awful this year. Bruno is becoming the only one who makes sense. Even DH has commented this year on the marking - believe me, not much tears him away from his IPAD

digerd · 02/12/2012 18:05

Liked the music better this week, except the Morecombe/Wise one.

chipstick10 · 02/12/2012 18:26

Bruno was the only one to tell it like it was as far as Victoria was concerned. You don't have to be cruel but the rest of the judges treated her like a little girl. Bruno just seemed to loose patience with her, and that seemed pretty fair to me.
I think dani has been under marked a couple of times. Lisa was defo over marked last night and so was Denise.
