Sparkly new thread.....

I wonder why DVO is so vehemently disliked on here. I'm no fan of hers by the way - she has always irritated me because she plays the cute ditzy blonde act when in fact I would be certain that she has a core and nerves of steel and is extremely ambitious. There's nothing wrong with being ambitious but acting like a total twit to cover it up is really grating.

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2012 14:29

lottapianos I think she's disliked for a few reasons;-

  1. She 's obviously a trained dancer and performer but she says she isn't or has not done much. Whereas the others who are trained admit to it..
  1. There was a thread about celebrities who were unpleasant and she featured on that thread.
  1. You mentioned a couple more reasons Grin
LadyClariceCannockMonty · 07/11/2012 14:36

Lotta, I think you've answered your own question. Grin

ppeat (Hi!), because Lisa and Robin were the last ones called 'safe' does that really mean they only narrowly escaped the dance-off? Do they always call out the lowest-scoring safe couple first? I always thought they did them in random order score-wise but in the order of most drama possible e.g. someone who scored v low with the judges but was saved by the public will get called safe first so we can all see the looks of disbelief and joy on their faces!

Lottapianos · 07/11/2012 14:40

'There was a thread about celebrities who were unpleasant and she featured on that thread''

Ooh, didn't see that - can you remember any specific goss?

I guess most people share my feelings about her then. Was just interested to see if there was a range of irritations or if it was mostly the 'ditzy blonde' act. Also agree that she has waaaaaay more dance experience than anyone else in the competition and shouldn't be there.

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2012 14:59

Lady Hello Grin Your guess is as good as mine 'cos i only got into SCD at the end of the last one (with the gorgeous Harry Judd and Aliona) I have to admit I don't vote either !

Lotta My computer doesn't do links so I can't link to it; someone could though probably. It was long and very interesting; sometimes you can guess certain 'stars' are not pusycats Grin

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2012 15:01

I can spell 'pussycats' correctly!! I've met a few celebs including Fern who is LOVELY BTW Smile

Lottapianos · 07/11/2012 15:06

I'm glad Fern is lovely! I always thought she seemed nice. I vaguely remember the thread but can't remember any details. Who else have you met ppeatfruit?

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2012 15:14

Well DH is in the biz as are DDs 1 and 2 (who used to act on telly) On Lovejoy etc. So i've met lots (don't want to boast emoticom).

Lottapianos · 07/11/2012 15:23

Jealous emoticon + Smile

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2012 16:21

Grin They're only people like us Grin

Lottapianos · 07/11/2012 16:22

Well yes, but I've always been quite fascinated with 'famous people' and do get very starry eyed.

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2012 17:06

Unless they're very lucky and in the right place at the right time with the right 'look' and or know the right people like Keira Knightley. They need to be highly motivated ,driven people who tend to 'walk over' others to get what they want.

DD1 decided she preferred to be controlling not controlled. She's an editor at Channel 4 now. When she got older she couldn't bear to be competing for work, she's too sensitive IMO to be refused a part due to her height or voice or whatever; it is terribly personal so you need a very thick skin to cope.

Then if you become a 'star' you need a thick skin to cope with mean lying journos and jealous stalkers, twitterers etc.

NotQuitePerfect · 08/11/2012 07:45

Lotta -can't remember the thread but someone ' in the know ' said that the 3 most horrible-in-real-life celebs were DVO, Ulrika & V Feltz.

Lottapianos · 08/11/2012 08:42

Ooh thanks NQP. Surprised at Vanessa, a mate met her very briefly at an awards thing and said she was lovely. Not surprised about DVO or Ulrika though.

Oodthunkit · 08/11/2012 10:44

Place marking

lakeofshiningwaters · 08/11/2012 12:25

Ooo, love a good Strictly chat!

I'm really trying to like DVO, as I've got no real reason to dislike her - nice enough woman, very attractive, lovely dancing - but... she irritates me, like fingernails down a blackboard!

Victoria is soooo painful to watch. Not only is she wobbling all over the place, but her eyes look like she's about to shatter into pieces inside. Not entertaining imo. It's hard to equate her with the Olympian who is so disliked by others in her field.

Loved Dani & Vincent's jive this week - was so fun (unlike the comedy VT that came before it!).

Fern is trying so hard - I disagree with the poster who said she's lazy, I think she's worn out! You can't compare her with Pamela Stephenson who'd been having dancing lessons for years, even several from Bruno (god, can you imagine what he'd be like as a teacher!).

I like Louis - I like his dry sense of humour, and the fact he's not buying into the melodrama and the 'it means everything to me' hype. I sometimes take my son to the gym where he trains and Louis in real life is very polite, and lovely with the younger ones. Plus, he has the awesome Flavia! I too am Flavia in a parallel universe, with amazing beauty, poise and dancing skills - my girl crush just gets stronger every year!

I loved Pasha and Chelsee last year so much, and really wanted to like Kimberley too, but she is just so dull. Chelsee is a hard act to follow; after starting off as favourite to go out Week 1, seeming like an airhead then winning everyone around with her partnership with Pasha, and her great personality.

Sad that Colin went out, could listen to him talk all day, but won't miss Kristina and her routines designed to make herself look sexy - a sexy cat fgs!

Richard out next I reckon, though I quite enjoy his dancing. How long till Saturday?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 08/11/2012 14:15

I think the absolute most horrible sleb according to MN is Cilla Black. Not one single good word for her, literally.

AndiMac · 08/11/2012 14:49

Did anyone catch Wednesday's It Takes Two? Along with being able to compare the comfort levels of both Olympians, Louis did some hilarious impressions of the other male pro dancers. They were really good!

Sparklingbrook · 08/11/2012 14:50

That was hilarious wasn't it Andi. I really laughed. Then DVO came on with lots of slap on and DH and I sat there trying to work out why we weren't keen on her. We still have no idea.....

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 08/11/2012 17:31

Yes I saw the impressions too - they were ace weren't they! I'd never really noticed that they actually looked different when they danced iyswim but you could absolutely see where he was coming from. And I thought it must take quite a lot of dance skill to be able to impersonate the dancers!

ppeatfruit · 08/11/2012 17:36

Yes they were clever esp. the one of the smallest pro who dances with Danni Louis did the eyebrows Funny Grin I take back what I said about a lack of personality and he's SOOOO cute!!!

LetUsPrey · 08/11/2012 22:19

Just watching tonight's ITT. Good grief but I really want to dance with Ian Waite! His paso training with DvO is fantastic.

Looking forward to Louis and Flavia's waltz. They seem to be getting on well and he's coming out of his shell a bit more. He needs to do a Gethin. Without the coming third part robbed by Matt di Angelo.

Lottapianos · 09/11/2012 08:13

I want to do all sorts of things with Ian Waite!

ppeatfruit · 09/11/2012 09:43

The other thing that was funny about Louis was the typical teenager but older way of speaking about his mum Grin

womblingalong · 09/11/2012 10:08

Hi all, massive strictly fan here, been lurking for a bit.

Loved louis and flavia - she is completely my fave pro.
DVO and James were brill, and honestly, DVO - is lovely in RL, met her once, and she is nice, but yet she has a core of steel, which I think is good in celeb land!

Dani and Vincent also really good.

Not taken by Nicky or Michael or even Kimberly, but I love Pasta Pasha and Artem.

My DSis has met the pro's and says James was the nicest and most friendly.
