dontcallmehon · 28/08/2012 21:05

Evening all.

NellyBluth · 28/08/2012 21:05

Evening! This will be interesting - I spent charming 5 days on the post-labour ward. Am Envy that they have private rooms though! They should show what it's really like on a busy ward with 8 beds, 8 mums and 8 babies!

Pickles77 · 28/08/2012 21:06

Woah nelly that sounds stressfull!

crikey she looks like me when i was carrying twins

DawnOfTheDee · 28/08/2012 21:09

She looks like me when i was carrying DD. Not an excess of fluid though...an excess of baby for me...DD was 10lb 10oz. My mw hadn't mentioned i was measuring ahead though and the mw at the hospital was a bit Hmm

DawnOfTheDee · 28/08/2012 21:09

Am also Envy at the private rooms!

NellyBluth · 28/08/2012 21:10

Its quite fun, actually - if you're in for a few days you all get to chat, watch each others babies when you go for a shower or to express. The only entertainment factor is when the babies start crying at 3am.

Pickles77 · 28/08/2012 21:10

10lbs 10? Wow. Smile Envy of private rooms too

The hospital looks lovely.

Is this series all set in the same hospital or is it a different one every week?

PatFenis · 28/08/2012 21:12

viva its Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral, its very recently been fully refurbished :)

NellyBluth · 28/08/2012 21:13

Sorry, I just heard someone say '4 hourly obs' for c-sec mums.

Ha haaa ha ha haa....

thekidsrule · 28/08/2012 21:13

i had a private room with all my births, thought that was pretty normal

we had the best day room with muffins, biscuits etc

and a decked balcony and this was NHS

though there was a ward there as a few private rooms

dontcallmehon · 28/08/2012 21:13

The midwives here seem lovely.

MerrilyWatkins · 28/08/2012 21:13

This is Arrowe Park on the Wirral where my youngest brother was born - it wasn't built when I was born!!

The series has differnt hospitals.

Pickles77 · 28/08/2012 21:14

I'm not being selfish but I hope I get a room as its going to really distress me seeing people's partners visiting Blush

PatFenis · 28/08/2012 21:15

Merrily all my children were born at the hospital, my eldest is 21. The maternity unit has always been there it has just been completely overhauled.

ImPeppaPigOink · 28/08/2012 21:15

With my first child's birth I had a separate room.

With DD I was put on a ward with 4 beds. Only 3 was used and I found it better then the previous birth even though other peoples babies kept crying, it was nice to be with other mums and able to chat.

The births were at different hospitals.

thekidsrule · 28/08/2012 21:16

Pickles77 are you single

Meglet · 28/08/2012 21:16

bless her, she looks exhausted.

NellyBluth · 28/08/2012 21:16

Oh, pickles. You should make a public announcement on here, we'd all troop down to see you!

Thekidsrule - where were you? Can I move there?! Our local area has no choice of hospitals, they spent a fortune on the MLU and CLU suites - which are admittedly fantastic - but didn't revamp the 1970s, 6 or 8-bed, orange curtained wards...

Poor Alison.

MerrilyWatkins · 28/08/2012 21:18

I was born in a nursing home in Birkenhead, I'm pretty sure AP wasn't built in 1971, my little brother is a lot younger than me.

Pickles77 · 28/08/2012 21:19

Yeah all on my ownsome, dreading flowers and balloons and stuff. It'll just be me and my mum/dad. Not the person I want it to be- its all on my notes though so they will keep a eye on me Wink
Anyway if I get upset I'll be calling for you
Lot!!!
And enough- I'm not meant to be thinking about it Grin
